What I hate is that when you paste a torrent url to download, and it doesn't immediately appear in the torrent list, there's no indication of what is happening with that request. Did the server return a webpage instead of a torrent? Is the request hanging? Did a dns lookup fail? Is it retrying? You have no clue what's going on and if the client is still making requests.

Why is that? Linux software just feels kinda.. I don't know, sloppy.

After a 1 or 2 second delay, it pops up with the window where you pick what files you want and save locations and all that. That is, if you literally mean a link to the .torrent file and not a magnet. Even magnets pop up like this even if the files aren't showing yet.
