Linux: Not even a real desktop OS, it's basically a SaaS product that allows you to put together your own OS, lots of maintenance issues and time-wasting. Also a lot of gaslighting from the community with phrases like "Just use y instead of x."

Windows: A joke at this point, with 10 it has turned into a "telemetry" hub and now with 11 it has a UI performance worse than Ubisoft games.

MacOS: Hardware-exclusive OS. Also, similar privacy policy with Windows.

Japan literally feels like that photo sometimes. After being there twice, I can catch no many Japanese nuances in it

>Linux: lots of maintenance issues and time-wasting
This hasn't been true for like a decade at this point. Just install Mint and get on with your life
>>
>>108702474
this. my tech-retarded mom uses mint, few clicks to install, revived her laptop and she's never had to ask me to do anything with it
these low effort posts should be permabanned
>>
>>108702633
because she probably doesn't step outside of the browser, if you're doing anything other than web browsing or playing steam games it's still a total shitshow and borderline unusable.
>>
>>108702474
HAHAHAHA

>Also a lot of gaslighting from the community with phrases like "Just use y instead of x."

A few moments later:

>Just install Y and stop complaining

>>108702633
Mint? You mean that thing derived from "Debian-derived Ubuntu" and also forces you to use Cinnamon DE which has no input isolation, which is a huge security and privacy flaw, because they are still working on Wayland support and Wayland will become default only after 2028?
>>
>>108702661
Also, Debian > Ubuntu > Mint packages are STA'b'LE. You try to install neovim and they offer you a version from 18 months ago which won't work with a lots of plugins.
>>
Home computing is pretty much dead at this point. Or circling the drain soon to be dead.
Everyone in the real world just uses their phones or a tablet for anything they're doing. The only ones still holding onto computers and laptops are older generations.
>>
>>108702714
Use a distro with Wayland then? I don't see how a Linux distribution is SaaS unless you're that one retard who always bitches about "repo slavery" then yes that makes sense you'd say that.

>I have to use THE INTERNET to DOWNLOAD software!
I'd tell you to buy the following 27 DVDs but you'd just cry about someone telling you to use something else.

>toy for toddlers to pretend that they are using a real computer.
>>
>>108702292
In the end the only problem is that modern hardware/software don't support Windows 7 anymore.
>>
>>108702292
I think Mac is winning the race, Valve and/or China may save linux
>>
>>108702661
>t. cant figure out how to use a software
store
ngmi
>>108702727
this isnt something normies care about, and if youre not a normie you know how to get newer anyway
>>
>>108702714
>huge security and privacy flaw
this is a nothingburger, you're just autistic
>>
>>108702292
xdddd
>>
>>108704640
This actually makes another good point about why it's so terrible: app stores/package repos are an awful distribution model that restricts user freedom.
>but you can compile from source
yeah I can, not some normoid though so you're effectively locking them into your curated ecosystem, no better than android or apple.
>>
>>108704300
Valve doesn't care about linux as a general computing platform, they want it as a game delivery system. I do love how freetards are looking to corpos to save them.
>>
>>108704972
>app stores/package repos are an awful distribution model that restricts user freedom
are you retarded? you can still find most major software with linux ports online as .deb files
troll is troll
>>
>>108702736
Anyone doing real work needs at least a laptop.
>>
>>108705029
>.deb
distro specific, not sure how that's supposed to help your point
>>
>>108702292

>>
>>108702292
>Hardware-exclusive OS
What is a hackintosh
>>
>>108702292
The first thing that is required for a SaaS to be called a SaaS is... it makes profit.

No one actually pretends Linux is an OS. That's confusion made by normies
>>
>>108705079
i was talking about mint, which supports .deb. most linux users are on ubuntu which also supports .deb
my point is you can still find install binaries for other distros through other sources than repos, .AppImage is very common now and not distro-specific
thanks for the uhm akshually you dolt
>>
Operating systems made for home environments were a mistake. Computers should've stayed in professional workspaces, not in some random normie retard's bedroom.
You're now seeing the consequences of bringing technology where it was never meant to exist.
>>
>>108702292
What did you think Linux was prior
>>
>>108702292
Haiku meets your criteria.
>>
>>108702292
Operating systems were a mistake, return to machine code monitor.
>>
>>108705012
The only good FOSS projects are those backed by corps.
>>
>>108707463
I completely agree, but it totally goes against the mindset of a lot of anti-capatalist freetards.
>>
bsd's exist still need to know what youre doing if you desire a rebrand
>>
>>108705079
>distro specific
Watch this:
https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/PKGBUILD?h=google-chrome
Yes, that's right. All this package is doing is unpacking the official Google Chrome .deb and using it on Arch. You can just do that. This is how thousands of Arch users install Chrome on their systems.
Repo slavery status?
>>
>>108702292
SaaS deserves all the hate it gets but you're clearly just using it as an insult without the slightest clue what it actually means.
>>
>>108702661
>a total shitshow
oh come on, anon
>>
>>108703617
Windows 7 was the perfect thing.
