with rocknix you can now run linux on your android arm handheldwill you make the switch steam deck sisters?
USE CASE for 120Hz if this potato provides decent 60fps at best
How stable is it? Are there lots of bugs? Has it gotten over the limitations that ARM imposes over the x86-based Steam Deck?
oh i have one of thesei only use it to play Animal Crossing (original) for 15 minutes every dayso i cant tell if it's any good but the OLED is annoying it has retention from the 4:3 game already after only 4 months
>>108703536many android games support 120hz natively as phones have 120hz display as well. snapdragon has built in framegen. there's also game streaming which is 120fps av1 or hvec.

>>108703771idk ask valve they are the ones working on fex so they see value in it
>>108703406>armI'd take a galileo g8 over that shit using my phone.Fairly cheaper, much better and swappable.
>>108703406I own a steam deck, switch and a powerful PC. Still play picrel out in my yard 90% of the time over the other systems.
>>108704441older stuff is becoming more and more soulful to me. considering picking up a vita or a psp
>>108704441I'm hoping they make Rocknix better compatible with Ayn Thor, I don't want to pay for 3DS's inflated price.

>>108703931...which works primarily by streaming games from a real computer to the ARM powered display. The kind of PC games you'd want to play on a phone class device with emulation, even really good emulation, are 15-20yo or have similar requirements.

don't care still buying a steam deck
>>108703406You lose some functionality with rocknix, I don't think there's ps2 or switch emulators on that side yet. Not quite a deck killer yet. I really wish there was a smaller deck alternative with better battery life.
>>108705764lmao is that really the steam deck? has nobody at valve ever seen a handheld or even just a controller? that's such a shit layout i hope the retard who designed it gets carpal tunnel or some shit from playing it lol. it looks like dreamcast and n64 were alcoholic siblings that had an inbred fetal alcohol baby together. if this thing isn't a financial disaster i'm going to start pouring lsd into the water supply like that sweaty bitch from the first batman.

>>108703406Unlike the UEFI Forum that oversees x86 OEMs and mandates all x86 PCs implement UEFI and allow end users to run any code they want, including bootloaders for any OS they want, ARM allows complete "freedom" for corponigger ARM OEMs to release billions upon billions of completely locked down unserviceable unmaintainable planned obsolescence 5-year-lifespan-maximum ARM devices with zero user freedoms. When's the last time you saw a functioning ARM computer older than 5 years? How about 10 years?x86 computers from 1980 are still in use to this day, running trains, airports, power plants, factories, even nuclear missile silos, and they're all completely serviceable with original parts from 1980, or after market parts made 4 decades later.UEFI has existed for two decades, BIOS for four decades, ARM has been around nearly that entire time and has outright refused to standardize or mandate a booting system that gives users even a shred of freedom. ARM have sat back for decades and enabled and encouraged ARM OEMs to completely and totally fuck ARM users with planned obsolescence in the name of profits. They have completely infested the mobile industry with their locked down shit ISA and now want to infest the desktop industry as well.ARM is a cancerous blight on computing whose only function is to strip away and undermine the ideals and principles of personal computing freedoms and liberties by forcing normies to accept having zero freedoms.ARM is the single greatest threat to computing freedoms in the history of computers. Not surprisingly ARM was co-founded and funded by the most freedom-hating globohomo niggerlover corporation in history: Apple.
>>108705513The Odin is a retro/emulation machine, it's 16:9 with widescreen mods at best or native 16:9 if you're lucky
>>108705764>>108704441i dont get the appeal of these giant handheds theyre not really handheld youve gotta rest them on a table or on your lap and crane over them which is uncomfy. dont get how they took off so much i exclusively use my switch docked. i do have a switch lite which is nice to use when i want a something portable though. ive had far more use from my 3ds, vita, nds and gba. i really hope we get some smaller x86 handhelds>>108706319its not better emulation is gay and never just works
I really want a handheld but I'm not sure which one I should get. Most of them are too big, or too expensive, or unavailable and usually all three at the same time Even the Odin 3, I have no idea where I'm supposed to get one. On the ayn website with the taxes they'd be like 700 euros. And Aliexpress really comes and goes and has no supportI want to play psp, vita, switch and possibly steam games
I like the idea of a smaller deck but these handhelds usually actually cost more than the deck OLED + I doubt it's as easy to just set up and play anything on it
>>108703536so you can vsync at 40fps because it doesn't have VRR
>>108707260>When's the last time you saw a functioning ARM computer older than 5 years? How about 10 years? Retarded argument. I'm typing now from a 12 year old arm device. The work laptop is a 2021 MacBook pro M1 Max that is still kino. My mass spectroscopy instruments still use consoles running 2005-tier arm thumb ISAs. There is nothing fundamentally obsolete-ing about RISC, it's just a different design philosophy.
>>108707517There are 75hz monitors with VRR and 120hz monitors without it
Why the fuck would I buy another thing that performs the same function as the thing I already own, except with even worse compatibility and performance?
>>108707431mental illness in one picture

>>108708981people are still posting this fud? lol lmao
>>108708940mods you can do on original; hw with roms/flashcarts>modern hardwarememe point when the games work better on the old hardware theyre designed for>with better resolutions, better framerates, running at non native resolutions is not better same for framerates>and better screens.only point that might make it better but then youre scaling the games and there isnt a one size fits all screen that can perfectly integer scale every console. having the console/handheld for each respective gen is better
I like it personally. It keeps my phone free of bloat.
