probably the same future that Audacity had. Recall there was a split. One fork was called Sneedacity or something like that. There was a kerfuffle between them and Audacity then gave up. Sneedacity, despite "winning" became inactive and was abandoned like a day or two after.

All is well, chuds. Doomers BTFO. If you check the mailing list, the transition is going smoothly and DDs are supporting the new DPL.

Reign of Debian as THE Linux distribution continues unabated. Reminder that all the anti-Debian shills are ghouls of suckless, Drew Devault, XLibre, etc. Misanthropic losers no open source project wants.

DEBIAN VOTED FOR THIS.
There will be no split over this.

So what? Coding is janitor-tier work.

It's funny how a librarian get's the role of a leader of a well known open source project, meanwhile a normal software developer needs to know and do the full stack of a company alone and still doesn't get a job.
Is it time to write applications to OSS projects? Looks like they are taking anyone

That analogy doesn't apply here because the dpl is not a natural step up from being a regular Debian dev. Most Debian devs do not want such a front facing public role, they just want to poosh updoot and only discuss technical aspects of the project. That's part of why there was hardly any competition in the election. The dpl also doesn't have all of the powers that you might think they do if we're pretending Debian is a company and the dpl is CEO. In particular they don't have control over technical aspects of the project, all of those decisions will be handled by the people getting their hands dirty just like always.

>The dpl also doesn't have all of the powers that you might think they do if we're pretending Debian is a company and the dpl is CEO. In particular they don't have control over technical aspects of the project
This. Technical matters as discussed by the Debian Technical Committee. The DPL can make suggestions just like any DD, but final decisions are made by the committee.

The DPL is the head of outreach, marketing, budgeting, HR and event coordination. That is also the position with most izzat. Sruthi got herself on a ruby packaging team to get DD status and be added to the keyring, and immediately started running for DPL. She's run in every election since 2021 and always lost cause there were other candidates.

DPL is more like the political janny who needs to manage their relations and activities. But the annoying part is her being incompetent in that, someone died in one of her managed conferences, and she didn't lurk enough to be a DPL, she barely knows how to use the mailing list and didn't use it that much before. It's like no one is interested in this job so they just threw it into anyone stupid enough to do it, and that person is mostly some loser who wants to feel important, like the last DPL.

Debian wouldn't change, but it's concerning.

It's budgeting for events and infrastructure costs. Developers all work for free. She can give more money on events to attract.women and jeets, but that still wouldn't affect technical development.

That would just condemn Linux to it's own demise. 90% of the distros people actually use for desktop and server are Debian or Debian based. Letting the ship sink fully because of 1 year of Pajeeta is foolish and weak minded.

>>108708962
For this to happen we need an "out with the old, in with the new" attitude. Don't say "we mvst go back", assert that Xlibre and Devuan is the future. Wayland is a failed experiment by Redhat much like Ubuntu mir and Debian is an old rotting distro losing support.

PS.
Be advised these FOSS companies like Red Hat and Canonical are insurance companies. They make things work for other corporations, offer support and are held liable when those things go wrong.
Devuan has one too, they're backed by Dyne - https://dyne.org/
If you want to make sure the same thing doesn't happen to Devuan, it might be worth "infiltrating" Dyne and making connections on related forums.

I've been lurking the Dyne chatrooms, they already have several antifa members and only tolerate things like Xlibre out of shared interest.
>>
>>108713493
>Dyne
Those are the guys behind dyne:bolic.
>This software is a tool for resistance, to share knowledge and information in a Babylonian world that seeks to control the way we communicate as much as possible. This software is for all those who cannot afford new expensive equipment to express their consciousness and words of goodwill. This software is not just for consuming information: it has a whole series of tools for producing it. It is a complete multimedia studio, thanks to it you do not need to buy anything to express yourself. Freedom, knowledge sharing and empowerment are the pillars of our development. That is where this software comes from.

>Capitalist and ideological governments rule the world by using a monopoly on mass television and corporate social media to propagate their principles, and suppress all criticism. With Dynebolic we break free from exploitative operating systems: always demanding expensive hardware, giving us gratis players while requiring us to spend money to make and share our own creations.
Mega based.
https://dyne.org/dynebolic/
>they already have several antifa members
Based beyond all human comprehension. Thanks for the tip, they're about to get one more antifa in the forums. Not even joking.
>>
>>108713493
This is the correct approach. You want to make connections, build and contribute, and voice your opinion during relevant moments. If you're only reacting to things when they get bad and running off to whatever seem safest then you'll never have a home and always be one (or several) steps behind.
Alternatively, focus your energy on explicitly non-leftist software to make it too good to ignore. You should also support people and companies who make connections with """nazis""". As time progresses it becomes increasingly obvious that team sports are not optional, you either start playing now or you let them score a bunch of goals before you even decide who the goalie is.
Also ignore people like >>108713742 even if they act on their words they are just trying to demoralize and antagonize because as I said before, they're already playing team sports and are both sore winners and sore losers.

It's the result of Linux Foundation, KDE, GNOME, Red Hat, and similar corporate drones donating massive sums of money to 3rd world countries (mainly India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh) and running "diversity" programs to bring more no-coders and JeetScript and Pyjeeton skiddies into free-software (GPL and AGPL) projects to first boot all of the original maintainers out and then rewrite those projects into some meme language and license the rewritten version using an open-source license (BSD, MIT, CC0...).

Not great. Already seeing the major impacts as the long term devs have either left or been kicked.

Native debian arm (not raspian or some other fork) is now practically dead. Library quality has dropped.
And there's been numerous dependency issues between the current and prior versions causing conflicts.

It's only going to get worse as debian focuses on being the wokest dogshit OS.
It's a fucking disgrace because science and engineering groups practically lived off debian for Yonkers and now they're on a timebomb OS.
