Most Debian devs do not want such a front facing public role, they just want to poosh updoot and only discuss technical aspects of the project. That's part of why there was hardly any competition in the election. The dpl also doesn't have all of the powers that you might think they do if we're pretending Debian is a company and the dpl is CEO. In particular they don't have control over technical aspects of the project, all of those decisions will be handled by the people getting their hands dirty just like always.
