I've been using Firefox religiously for twenty years but they really fucked up in the last update. I can't even watch Youtube videos anymore. Besides everything is slow as fuck. I'm sad and disapointed at Mozilla.

Works fine for me, zero issues what-so-ever, both on my Windows 11 machine and my GNU/+Linux (Arch) machine.
Actually, I haven't had a singular issue on Firefox since installing it back in 2009. Nor did I have a single issue with Brave since 2018.
You people are crazily braindead or just post shit like this for the lolz. Idk how else you could break something that works fine as is.

It might be a youtube / adblock thing.

Firefox has had its ups and downs in terms of performance, but to me at least it's currently in a decent place. I haven't had any issues. YouTube is a bit slower to load on Firefox, especially if you're logged in, but that's nothing new.

My only advice is to install Enhancer for YouTube, open it and look at the right side panel (Video codecs and formats) and enable the second option (the one that uses MP4 and H.264). For me at least, it noticeably improved performance while watching videos at higher speeds with no decrease in quality (just uncheck it if you want to watch something in 4K). The first option using standard framerates is overkill unless you're on a very low spec PC as the limit is severe. Yes, you can technically do all of this by blocking certain video formats in about:config, but this solution is more elegant.

Also make sure that you don't use any extensions that might interfere with regular functioning, in my experience stuff like Malwarebytes' extension can slow the browser down to a crawl.

Also, while we're on the topic, maybe look through Firefox's general setting as well as Privacy & Security. I have some pretty restrictive standards set and it works fine, but you may have accidentally blocked some essential cookies.

Also, since you got me started, I do run a few about:config settings that might help. I have seen a slight improvement, but I'm no expert.

gfx.webrender.layer-compositor - true (default: false)

media.wmf.zero-copy-nv12-textures-force-enabled - true (default: false) [this one is for AMD only apparently, but maybe it works on Nvidia GPUs as well]

I also like to disable the fullscreen fade effect, it makes the browser feel snappier:

set full-screen-api.transition-duration.enter to 0 0 (default 200 200)
full-screen-api.transition-duration.leave to 0 0 (default 200 200)

Now that I think about it, the only time I've ever had issues with videos not playing was when I tried to use an user agent switching extension.

Brave/Vivaldi is the best if you're not an autistic retard opposed to all things chromium for no reason as it's objectively the better browser engine. And they have no ads

NTAYART, but I am also a Mozilla enjoyer.
And shall save your suggestions for tomorrow

Not to get into this whole conversation again, but there's always the option of using Chromium for YouTube and Firefox for everything else. There are plenty of situations where Firefox works better. The fact that it allows you to change so many things about it through about:config and userchrome.css is what makes it stand out to me, among a few other things. And I'm not the type to tinker for the sake of tinkering, I'm being pragmatic about the changes I make.

I think it's actually just the internet that's broken. At work, home, mobile I'm regularly runnibg into moments where websites just refuse to load for whatever reason for a minute or two.

It's like they're actively trying to sabotage the brand by pushing its users away as much as possible with every update, including that the main version has near daily patches.
I came just to check if other retards were having issues with current version with sites saying the browser is not supported, or login services being stuck in an infinite loop of entering username and not getting the password prompt when hitting "Next." Cleared cache and that worked for one site but others still refuse to work. Gonna try downgrading versions next, what the fuck, Firefox.

Which version were you using? I just assumed that OP meant the regular edition.

Also, do you have "Allow Firefox to improve features, performance, and stability between updates" enabled under Data Collection, by any chance? I tend to turn it off just in case they push faulty updates.

The only recent issue I noticed, and I'm not 100% sure about it, is that under Privacy & Security, the "Block dangerous and deceptive content" option was on and possibly a bit overzealous when blocking downloads. I don't remember if I usually turned it off, I recently did a fresh reinstall.

Did they fuck with scripts somehow? 4chanxt has been super fucked for me. It needs 3-5 minutes and/or multiple refreshes to load when I open a new thread.

Thanks. This wasn't the problem, but there was a "third-party pop-up blocker" around to these options that got activated at some point, probably from clearing the browser's settings. Fucking Firefox.
>>
>>108705790
Something definitely changed, but for me it works after a single refresh the first time I open 4chan (I tend to use private browsing as my main method and only use regular for a handful of sites).
>>

Interesting. I have it on as well, but I haven't noticed any issues. I even use a separate "pop-up blocker" (technically it's anti-redirect since pop-ups aren't really a thing anymore in the classic sense) called Popup Blocker (Strict). Some might think it's bloat, but it saved me from many misclicks throughout the years.
