>>108707328Years ago I was watching something on youtube. Some sort of military expo of software to figure out who is a terrorist. They didnt need to record any phone calls just needed a set of data and from that meta data. They could then accurately identify who is who and what they were likely up to. The way llms operate and how similar people can be I think people over estimate how unique they think they all are. Once a large enough data set and enough llms looking at it there will be more "truth" available than ever before. This is not necessarily a good thing. Anything you've ever done that you didnt want people to know. They will know about you. They might not have direct evidence of it, but because the LLM truth machine said it about you and has generally been accurate before. This will just be accepted as truth by most people. They sort of touched on this in a shitty movie called Mercy. Sort of minority report style movie but AI just uses "facts" and statistics to determine your guilt of a crime. The masks we wear are important we spend a lot of time trying to display a version of ourselves we want to be. Take away the masks and we are left with unfettered truth. No one likes someone that is truly honest, our entire civilization operates on lies. Lies are important sources of motivation that if you knew the truth it would be difficult to do or try anything. Most things are a huge gamble and being to aware of the odds can deter people. Some of the most successful people were absolutely delusional about the success they would obtain. Metaphorical truths/lies have a purpose. Stories are how we operate and understand the world around us. Nietzsche talked a lot about truth and staring into the abyss. It is something worth perusing but I don't think its helpful for the masses or a public policy.
