What happens when the servers shut down?
>>108708096I don't know
Who cars about console peasants.
>>108708096you really need the stop killing games initiative in the EU or something similar to passalso sorry to hear you fell for a console, it goes against human computer usage dignity. we don't have something this ridiculous for hammers but if we did, I'd feel fucking stupid for having THAT hammer not the unrestricted one
>>108708188>consoleIt's the same thing on pc too, unless you use GoG and have the installers btw
>>108708096Don't you mean, what happens when PSN gets hacked again and suffers a multi month outage?
>>108708096They Start Killing Games
>>108708096I don't give a shit. Now what happens when Steam shuts down the servers?
>>108708096The third reich hopefully.
>>108708096heh
>>108708322Doesn't apply to like 90% of games.*cpu overheats*
>>108708322Even on Steam just about nothing has re-activation, games work if your PC has been offline 10y.They're just doing abusive as fuck bullshit.
>>108708547that's not true actually
>>108708096I don't play gaymes. Explain what's that. If you don't connect in 30 days your gaymes stop working?
>>108708096you cfw it and install pemanently
install gentoo
pirates win again!
Just shoved my Super Mario Bros cartridge into my NES and guess what. It still works. Without any internet connectivity. I can even resell it on Ebay if I want.
>>108709049lmao get w/ the times unc
>>108708096If you purchased digital games, that implies that you're online. How are you going to purchase a game and download it if the servers are down? The only use case I can think of is if you were to go on a web browser to purchase a game and then download the game on your PS5 like 3 weeks later. >>108709049I don't like Mario.
if buying isn't owning...
>>108708096what's Valid? some distribution partner?
>>108708188exactly
>>108708380i run a steam emulator and nothing changes
>>108708096If the servers shut down it means they've gone out of business, in which case why would they care what happens
>>108708096You own nothingYou are happy
>"purchase" game>studio pulls game from psn, you lose access>studio releases game remastered>you are forced to re-"purchase" it>studio pulls game remastered from psn, you lose access>studio releases game remastered goty editionthis is really what they want. they're out of game ideas and want you just keep paying for the same game + some AI texture mods over and over. this is your future.
piratesisters... we win by paying nothing
gaming on consoles is an humiliation ritual>b-but it's the same on pcno it is not, stop playing mmo always online gacha trash>b-but denuvo requires online activationdenuvo has been effectively bypassed as a concept and cannot be fixed
>>108708322Nah not really, on PC even in the most extreme scenario you can just use some crack or DRM bypass, because you can run whatever software you want on your computer. Consoles are so DRM'd down to the hardware you can't even do that unless there's some jailbreak which busts it wide open and I don't think any of those exist for the latest consoles.
Stop tolerating digital-only slop on consoles. All you had to do was refuse to participate in any consoles that didn't sell physical media with true ownership rights over your games.
>>108709541That's also retarded given that most of the physical games you buy these days need a patch or update to properly function. Once the serves are offline you run into the exact same problem you do with digital versions. What you really need to do is buy things on a platform that lets you basically own the game, such as on GOG, or by outright pirating the game.
>>108708096>buy console>buy "game" (digital download)>buy more storage for games>pay for internet to download said games>pay for microtransactions in game>pay for "online access" to gameconsole players are completely retarded
>>108709569ownership is a legal fiction, it doesn't change anythingyou just need computational freedom to do with your bytes as you please
>>108709584ps3 was last console i bought. the forced updates to use online shit, games that needed 10s of gb of patches. i sold the console and move on. kept the games just in case i can rip them in the future.
>>108708096somebody call Ross, he will do something about it
>>108708096You lose access to the games you rented from Sony.>rented? But I paid for it, it's a one time purchase so I own itDo you? Do you really own those games?
>>108709236>If the servers shut down it means they've gone out of business, in which case why would they care what happensOh, when did EA go out of business?
>>108710277very soon probably
>>108708096>What happens when the servers shut down? You run linux on it and load your steam library.
>>108710452What happens when Steam goes offline once Gabe dies and the company goes public?
>>108710502I pirate, so not my problem
>>108710502well, shareholder value maximization and a royal screwing that would finally move me back to pirating games.
