Why do people send voice notes rather than text messages? What makes people think someone wants to spend six minutes listening to them rambling just because they couldn't be bothered to type?
>>
>>108708494
It's more efficient for the sender, less efficient for the receiver. Most people in Britain are unemployed, they have all the time in the world to tap tap a text message.
>>
>>108708494
>Why do people send voice notes rather than text messages
Illiteracy, laziness, low IQ.
>>
>>108708494
I've only ever seen women do this
>>
>>108708494
In Latin America youre seen as weird if you don’t send voice notes at least some of the time
>>
Because they couldn't be bothered to type. You answered your own question.
In addition to that I find it's harder to misinterpret voice with inflection rather than tone-less text.
I wouldn't want to communicate with someone like OP regardless though.
>>
The only people here in the US who send voice notes are illiterate immigrants using whatsapp.
>>
>>108708494
>couldn't be bothered to type
Bitches love smiley faces.
>>
>>108708494
Same reason these people love speakerphone.
>>
>>108708494
>Why do people send voice notes rather than text messages?
Autism
>>
>>108708494
i can’t think of a single time i’ve received a voice message that wasn’t on an answering machine
>>
How the definition of nigger technology evolved over time.
>>
>>108708570
This, it's very woman coded.
>>
Thirdies are illiterate
>>
>>108709580
Americans are thirdies now?
>>
typing long text messages requires a degree patience of smartphone literacy that most people don't have, even if they do do it, normies will read the first line and ignore everything else, so they would rather send what is effectively a voicemail
>>
>>108709800
>turn to 2x speed
>wait for keywords
>if using Snapchat or iMessage, just read the transcript
its that easy
>>108709609
always have been
>>
>>108708570
True, only women send voice notes.
My mom sometimes sends me 1 second voice notes, which literally consist of a two-word question.
I hate when she does this.
>>
only the biggest oversocialized normgroids do this that think talking to their phone is normal
>>
How mentally stunted do you have to be to complain about people using their phones as communication devices?

>>108708587
Why though
>>
>>108710014
What do you think a phone is for??
>>
Why would anyone in their right mind spent a minute trying to type some shit they could have said in five seconds.
>>
>>108708494
chinks do that because their written language is retarded
>>
>>108710252
It’s more social, highly social cultures feel like texts are too impersonal and detached and want to feel like they’re talking face to face
You think being autistic is bad in a western country you haven’t tried being autistic in a Latin American or arab country
>>
>>108708494
Only turd worlders do this. Whites intuitively understand that parsing text is far more efficient way of communicating and analyzing information.
>>
>>108708518
>less efficient for the receiver
You can speed up audio, you can't speed up text. Everyone prefers audiobooks and podcasts to written texts.
>>
>>108711011
I don’t know about China but Korea and Japan prefer texts by far. See my previous post >>108711016 because societal autism and preference for texts over voice is directly correlated. For example Finland, Estonia aren’t on this graph >>108710252 but I can easily predict they are 70%+ in favor of texts. Meanwhile I can predict Turkey is 50/50 or even has a slight preference for voice notes
>>
>>108708494
Because tts filters people who can't speak clearly.
>>
>>108711028
>Everyone prefers audiobooks and podcasts to written texts.
do goyim really
>>
>>108708494
I wish my mom had sent me more voice notes now that she's gone but for pretty much every other situation I'd much rather just have the text. It's the same number of taps to just have the phone convert your voice to text and it should be just as easy to convert a voice note to text.
>>
>>108708494
i see people on the bus/train do this all the time, its a pain to type messages when you are on a moving vehicle
>>
voice notes are protected by the same laws that prevent wiretapping phone calls. texts are not
>>
>>108711137
what state? in florida it applies to any communication whether it's oral, electronic, or wire.
>>
Async audio communication is better than texting. Texting is a regression, it's inefficient, and only tolerated by hyperverbal, antisocial populations

you know you can dictate to your phone right
>>

Yeah, most people I contact through WhatsApp in Hueland send voice messages for some reason.

>>
>>108711877
That's right!
>>
>>108708494
The only reason anyone uses any tech: they push it in front of users to force us to use it. Grandpa just wants to convey a message and the phone says, "do it this way!" so he does.
>>
>>108708494
My gf does that when she's driving but she has a cute voice so i don't mind.
>>
>>108708494
OP is 100% a busriding yuropoor. Being in the USA and driving with Android Auto or Carplay, speech to text still sucks even with the latest Gemini, so voice notes would actually be useful except Google decided to not expose it in Android Auto. If you text while you drive, you deserve to have your thumbs lopped off and your eyes gouged out.
>>
I've got no one to text or send voice notes so.
>>
>>108711982
Sending voice messages while you drive is ALSO a major distraction and cannot be allowed.
>>
>>108708494
It's for 3rd worlders and women. Moreso 3rd worlders.
>>
>>108708494
>why would people who have jobs and drive and have shit to do prefer to send a voice message rather than type it?
yet another confirmation that this board is full of students and NEETs
>>
>>108710969
habit
on the other hand, voice recognition is pretty good and I’m starting to get the muscle memory to press the microphone button if I don’t have any weird proper nouns in what I’m about to say
>>
>>108708494
kinda a moot point when text to speech and speech to text exist
>>
I used to talk to a girl who would send me voice notes. I loved the sound of her voice, and I would replay them over and over sometimes. I wish I had kept them but it's probably for the best.
>>
I had a supervisor send me a 10 minute video of them rambling over a screen recording and was upset when I asked if that was a joke. Send it via text, if it takes too long to type then consider condensing it.
>>
>>108708494
Just use AI to make a transcript (or summary) nigga
>>
>>108708494
Whenever someone sends me a voice message I just tell them that it didn't load or play correctly and ask them to write it out instead. I think expecting someone to spend minutes listening to your poorly thought out ramblings is disrespectful
>>
>>108712781
Anyone who tries that with me will regret it when I spend an hour typing an email in reply that anticipates every possible branch of the conversation and proactively and exhaustively addresses it.
>they call me back
I let it go to voicemail and write a second email, from scratch rather than cribbing from the first.
>>
>>108708587
Corporate shill on Facebook: "You're WEEEEIRD! You're WEEEEEEEIRD!"
>>
>>108712963
ok
>>
>>108708494
If I receive a voice message I usually just ignore it
>>
>>108716196
Why?
>>
>>108711817
yeah nothing beats getting a voicemail in the midst of public transit
>>
>>108709609
Americans don't do voice notes. Half of them are still doing SMS.
>>
Imagine if 4chan was all voice posts.

4chan but all posts are text-to-speech getting played at the same time when you enter a thread.
>>
>>108716262
just click the transcribe button or put your headphones on?
>>
>>108708494
I wish messenger programs would at least offer easy transcribing functions. And also use those for notifications if possible.

People who send voice messages are fucking trash. Unless you're in a highly distressing situation, you have no right to waste my time like this. Just use the dictation function on your fucking device if you're too dumb to type, or wait till you have time to type. 98% of messages are pointless anyway.
>>
>>108716330
No you put it on speaker nigga, then the while bus/train knows about your positive chlamydia test.
>>
>>108708494
I want you to hear my voice of command. Text castrates authority
>>
>>108716339
yeah it makes absolutely zero sense that I can press the button to convert my voice to text, but I can't press a button to convert someone elses voice to text.
>>
>>108716214
If I ever need to recheck what was sent to me or get any detail of the message, I'd have to relisten to the whole voice message, it's extremely annoying. I think it's kinda disrespectful of people's time.
>>
>>108716426
A valid argument. Except the last point. My time is more valuable than yours.
>>
>>108708494
>quicker to make than writing on a shitty phone keyboard
>if i just care about text ,the phone transcribes it in like 1 second per minute of audio
>if its someone i like i get happy chemicals hearing their voice
no downsides
>>
>>108710000
>My mom sends me two word voice notes
>Washed Sock?
>Job Yet?
>Fuck Much?
>>
>>108716214
Why not?
>>
>>108716864
What it's something extremely important?
>>
>>108716426
>If I ever need to recheck what was sent to me or get any detail of the message,
THat's when you just ask them. Waste their time instead of yours. And if they don't answer, fuck it, not your problem.
>>
>>108716933
Then they should have sent a text message
>>
>>108716970
Bingo.
