Why are they bloating my home dir?
>>

>projects is bloat
>but not public and templates
>>
>>108712201
what is even templates for? I've been using computers since the 90's and I never used it.
>>
>>108712186
You don't have any project?
>>
>>108712186
If it had a special icon with a symbol on it you wouldn't even notice or care
>>
>>108712186
Who’s “they”? That’s the name of the directory that I created to put all my projects in
pretty good name if you ask me
>>
>>108712201
Public is for network shares and Templates are for creating new documents. I don't even know what projects does. Probably only there to make me feel like a lazy piece of shit for leaving it empty.

Also, fuck you 4chan. I didn't fail that fucking captcha. How dare you make me solve them three times in a row to make this braindead reply. I'm going to fuck you in the ass, Hiromoot.

just disable it, isn't xdg-user-dirs optional anyway? maybe not if you're a footfag I guess
>>
>>108712279
Put a document file of any kind in there and you can create a copy of it through, for example, context menus. You could put a blank text document, notetaking template, MLA template, shell script template, html template, anything you want in there and create copies quickly and easily.

Every word in the English dictionary should be a sub-directory in the $HOME directory.

What if I already have a /home/anonymous/niggers?
>>
Thanks, it works!

Just need to update and reboot now
>>
>>108712322
it's optional and gnome/gtk programs tend to respect it. however some software, like chromium and firefox will force the creations of the dirs, even if you disable it.

is the reason for /*me* pattern to trick rm variants with sanity checks for root and /home and the like? is it so that anons don't notice the removal for a while? is it just a very halfhearted trick?

having a semi-locked template keeps you from accidentally editing the original
macOS has this functionality and for some workflows (none of mine) this could be useful

It is bad but still better than Nautilus (or "Files" as they call it now, stupid name) and also I give you 2 years before the genius @ the gnome project come up with an excuse to start ripping off liquid glass

Gnomer, the bloat is not the user personal project.
The default home folders is bloat, just like XDG project added complexity and bloat.

Imagine you make a lot of reports with a specific template. You put the template in ~/Templates then whenever and wherever you want to make a report you merely right click > New File > Report.odt and it's done.

Your approach does the same but takes more steps.

How do I only resize the Icon-And-Text Taskmanager without letting them scale the application launcher icons?

The only option I have is to resize the entire panel. Fedora KDE 44
>>
>>108712306
why is your directory on my computer?
>>
>>108713689
Nautilus has like 30% of the functionality of finder
Top panel has no point
macOS has zero trouble with tray icons
The one single thing GNOME does better than macOS is virtual desktops

i do wish devs would grow even a few brain cells
people don't actually group files by their type do they? music or video? you make a folder for a collection of files related by some kind of theme surely?
do people have a reaction folder in images and then copy it to videos because it has webm in it too? or a hard link? i just have a folder called reactions in home dir. all of these folders are empty.
i don't keep music in my home folder i have a network drive so i can stream it around the house.

What the fuck are you gonna store related to a music band? fucking wikipedia articles?
>>
>>108714996
i wouldn't put music like that in a home directory at all and if i did want to, i could just make the folder myself
