>No nuance or logic allowed, just primal emotions.
Worse than that, these aren’t even true emotions, because the comments you see aren’t even their own opinions, they’re merely regurgitations of group-think to avoid any community pushback. It’s really the “redditisation” of the internet, in which people have been corralled into espousing only ‘correct’ opinions which are dominated by the most vocal terminally-online individuals. These ‘repeaters’ might even be bots, but that’s really a distinction without a difference if the output is the same. If you want them to scatter, just press them on technical details, but they’re worthless, so it’s even better to ignore the noise. Don’t let them suck the oxygen out of the room.

Microsoft’s reliance on cheap Indian H1Bs is a valid critique, and the aggressive push to force-feed copilot into all of their programs is deserving of derision. Yet, Microsoft’s misteps do not magically result in the Linux Desktop somehow becoming a superior product, it’s still the old bloated monolithic kernel and patch-work Frankenstein OS, a paucity of quality software, and now featuring a fractured Windowing system (X11/Wayland). Even quality FOSS tools like KCad have had a hard time with that one.

I added the linux db and KEK keys. I want to replace the PK but worried it might brick my computer.
>>
>>108720817
You can use the tool sbctl to properly set up secure boot keys for your Linux install that the Windows install will be happy with. And if you're using something Ubuntu or Fedora based you already have a pre-configured shim that deals with secure boot properly without any other work to do. Also remember to disable hibernation in the Windows install so you don't accidentally use fast boot.
>>
is there a way to make push notifications less ugly in 10? i dont like how they look
>>
>>108721376
I already have both windows and arch linux installed. I generated the keys manually. I enrolled the db and the KEK manually using the UEFI firmware and all works well, but I'm really worried of replacing the PK because I'm worried it might brick my computer. I use a thinkpad and the bricking is so bad the arch wiki had a warning about it here:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Unified_Extensible_Firmware_Interface/Secure_Boot#Using_your_own_keys

the PK is the most important key right? since that's essentially who controls the platform. will replacing the PK also break the KEKs and db's. some say it's ok to remove the MS and keep the lenovo ones. others say the opposite. it's confusing. sbctl says you only need the MS CA 2011 keys to not brick your system but I'm still worried which is why I didn't use sbctl.

Is there a way to reliably query the alt+tab grid in Windows? I am using AHK to implement window switching using mouse swiping like you can with the touchpad. It works pretty well, but with the touchpad you have the focus stopping at the end of a grid, meanwhile with my script, since I'm just emitting arrow keys, I wrap around the edges of the grid, which makes it a little harder to focus on a specific window.

Hello, thread. Dumb question.
I have an M2 SSD and an IDE SSD, both have Windows 11 installed. When I boot up it offers me to choose which Windows I'd like to launch.

BUT

If I remove the M2 SSD from my motherboard BIOS won't even let me choose the IDE one as a bootable option (but it sees it and knows that it exists). What do? Yes, windows was installed on the M2 one first but then I bought the new IDE one and installed windows there from the usb flash device.

Ventoy isn't "confirmed malware" dipshit. If you want to make a Windows boot USB on Linux you either need to use Ventoy or make a boot USB manually via formatting a USB as FAT32, moving all the files from an ISO to it (besides install.wim in the sources folder), then downloading wimlib to split the install.wim into two 4GB-aiming .swm pieces and putting them on the USB.

It 100% is and you're retarded if you don't see it. It's literally using the exact same trick as the xz exploit to shoehorn in unverified binary blobs when you compile it, and the chink creator refuses to acknowledge it.
>make a boot USB manually via formatting a USB as FAT32, moving all the files from an ISO to it (besides install.wim in the sources folder), then downloading wimlib to split the install.wim into two 4GB-aiming .swm pieces and putting them on the USB.

Wild guess, but temporarily disable secure boot? You might want to do a registry change within W11's setup environment to circumvent the secure boot check, though (BypassSecureBootCheck DWORD value in HKLM\System\Setup\LabConfig)
>unless you use W11 IoT Enterprise or the LTSC variant thereof

As long as you split the .WIM image to .SWM parts or recompress it with LZMS solid compression as .ESD with wimlib, then copy all of the install medium's contents to a FAT32-formatted drive (make sure the boot and EFI folders/files are copied!), everything should be alright

>>
Hello. I just put a new 1TB SSD in my notebook and then most of the heavy stuff inside it.
But my Windows isn't searching in it when I try to search files. Does anyone know how I make it so searches include the files in it?
>>
>>108724917
All of them, because surprise surprise, every dipshit that yells "Ventoy is malware" is too incompetent and retarded to actually verify if the blobs are just pre-compiled code the dev put out of laziness, or if it's some proprietary code, or if it's genuine malware. All that matters is that it has proprietary blobs, therefore malware.
>b-but these are literal black boxes compiled code they cannot be read
So is malware yet we've been doing heuristics for decades. Almost as if there are methods to decompile and debug such packages, and Ventoy could be brought to the point where these blobs are eliminated with the project compiling properly. But oh no, that takes skill and effort, something 99% of this board doesn't have so yelling about how it's literally installing a CCP backdoor is all they can muster.

Of course no one raises a stink about the metric fuckton of binary blobs in the Linux kernel used to make it work, and it's automatically assumed to be safe just because it's Linux, so it must be safe. Rules for me, not for thee. Either hold every FOSS project to the same scrutiny or shut the fuck up.

>>
>>108724957
you basically wrote the quiet part of my post for me, that pretty much covers everything i was planning to respond with. binary blobs are super common in the linux and bsd kernels, they aren't inherently malicious, they usually ended up being used for a particular reason (usually to make some thing work), and complaining about proprietary black box blobs in relation to windows which is almost entirely a black box just seems silly. but i was at least going to hear out what he had to say.

I don't really like the linux desktop, find the community (and their politics) largely insufferable, but I do see value in more users migrating there because it will cause a counter reaction which should result in a better Windows.
