i3 is better because you can control picom with sed commands, rather than be limited by sway's config file, which isn't hot, and the picom-trans command isn't powerful or versatile enough in comparison.

how so? although yeah GNOME 50 has had a few more performance issues and bugs than usual for a new release. doesn't help that the main guy reviewing GNOME extensions is getting bombed in Iran so several of them have to be manually fixed and the list has been piling up
for what it's worth I've been trying KDE these last couple of days and pretty much migrated my Tiling Assistant workflow to it, but I'd still say give i3 or sway a shot, they're pretty reliable on Debian.

My main gripe with the tiling assistant is always having to fuck about whenever I try to tile the bottom left corner. I can't just drag a window down there because that's where my other monitor is and I end up just dragging the window down there instead. It's a bit of a nitpick. Otherwise, it's serviceable. My real issue with gnome at the moment is that it's just too resource intensive and it chokes whenever I have to much shit open. Once I get around 60% RAM usage, Nautilus gets unresponsive, and I have to close either my browser or Strawberry to get it back to normal.

I've had openSUSE Tumbleweed for about 2 years total (with a few distrohop pauses in between), and I haven't had any serious problems after updating yet. A few weeks ago, an update was released for RawTherapee, which I use almost daily. However, it wouldn't open. It would just segfault at startup. Three days later, after hitting "sudo zypper up" again, an update appeared that fixed the issue.
On the other hand, openSUSE Leap didn't even let me log in after a fresh install because the "Wayland session failed."
I would say the most problematic thing about Linux is the hardware. My 2016 Kaby Lake CPU has been tested for years, but newer hardware probably doesn't have as fine-tuned drivers.

i make my own colorschemes though, plenty anons do the same. if you cant notice subtle differences in a palette, then ricing probably isnt for you

Sometimes, but in those times I just go and find a theme from online to use. For example, Qbittorrent wont go into dark mode with the theme so I have to manually install a dark mode. Strawberry is the only one I can't go dark mode no matter what I do.
>>
>>108733071
>memorize key binds to use your pc?
>It can't be practical or am I wrong?
actually it is. ive always used the same keybinds that i just port over every time i try a new TWM so i know them very well. most WMs come with pretty sane defaults so its not like you have to do a whole lot of customization if you dont want to
>>
>>108733071
As a former windows user, I knew basically all the windows keybinds. Win+arrows, alt+tab, alt+shift+tab, win+r, alt+f4, all the keys for interacting with gui progs w/o mouse (hold alt or press alt-space so an underline appears beneath the letter of "File," "Edit," "View," etc, that you need to press to open the fly-out menu), win+numbers for the taskbar, etc. But you can't change them or make new ones with anything that actually makes any sense. When I learned about twm's on linux it just seemed like the logical conclusion of actually knowing what you are doing with your os.

yes its really simple. its actually just a bash script that is piped to the herbstclient that interacts with the wm, a bit like bspwm but far superior imo. its a manual tiler so there isnt really much layout stuff since you do that with binds.

I had this problem when I did a fresh install of Debian 13. There's a Gnome package that lets you use dark mode on those apps. It used to come installed by default on Debian 12, but for some reason, it doesn't anymore on 13. I think the package is called gnome themes extra, but I'm not 100% sure. Try downloading, then go to Tweaks, Appearance, and under Legacy Applications you should see an option called Adwaita-Dark.
