Just the sheer stupidity of the average office worker keeps them from using any other OS. You ever try to explain how to shut down or restart a computer? These fucking people just look at you.Then there's the infrastructure. In just a basic office of 300 people for a midsized organization you have an LDAP Domain with Microsoft AD and all of the infra associated with that, plus Microsoft servers which, through a combination of decades of use, are effectively in use by hundreds and controlled by maybe three people who know how to repair them and keep them usable by the rest of the company, and that's if you're lucky and kept old wizards around. Lots of places I know have more than a few black boxes that are running various flavors of Windows Server.Then there's software built specifically to run on windows. Not just O365, which corporations buy on license with their operating system and Azure and servers, but all the software that vendors code specifically in languages and dependencies that require windows.Dismantling that would take decades, and would serve no useful function other than to waste money. And no company wants to run to open source software for business line apps. Their servers may be Linux, but they run shit like RHEL where you can call some dipshit.
