Why is it so hard to find battery banks with interchangeable batteries? Lately it seems like they want to lock us into their battery bank without the ability to change the batteries so that we throw the device and buy a new one. Most of them are single battery. Are there any 2x21700 battery banks in the market?
>>108726429Funny, recently I've been thinking about 18650 powerbank/chargers for emergency use, and I swear Nitecore had devices like these, but now you can't find anything like that on Aliexpress.>hook up to a solar panel charger>store juice for later>can charge a phone from it>or pop the batt out and use in a flashlightBasically ideal for blackout scenarios, but nah, why bother offering value to the people.
Why is it so hard to find phones with interchangeable batteries?
>>108726511EU is going to enforce that on february 2027.In the meantime, all you get is Samsung XCover.Dear God, what an awful phone that dies in a single fall.
>>108726429China had a bunch, though I remember only 18650s, not 21700.however, maybe you'd be ok with a LED lantern or torch or w/e? the more enthusiast lamps with bigger lipos now really quite often have usb-c pd charging/dischargingyea, I know, more costs, but also more functions that are relevant to almost everyone
>>108726526>EU is going to enforce that on february 2027.I think they can still ignore that if they have a certain IP rating.
>>108726556it doesn't automatically waive the requirement and while you can probably argue that you do this (with documentation and stuff and dealing yet more with the EU bueraucracy) ... like, is your plan to win less than a handful of years while bothering the EU customers and politicians?they probably will change the rules again if you try to mess around too much and offer only "phones for showering and diving"like, would you do this as LG or Samsung or whoever?
>>108726581>like, would you do this as LG or Samsung or whoever?Depends if it was cheaper or not.
>>108726586Both EU customers and EU politicians will react poorly. It just won't be.I'm also guessing that other legislatures will demand the same thing anyhow.
>>108726556>>108726581What is this retarded gaslighting shit. Are gaskets lost technology like going to the moon?
What's the point of having replaceable batteries for a battery bank? The battery bank IS the battery, it just has some plastic and a bit of electronics attached to it.
>>108726633>What is this retarded gaslighting shit. What? Who's gaslighting you?
>>108726633Yea, I think it'll not *usually* work on the EU. Too stupid. Quite a few of us even already held waterproofed smartphones with replaceable batteries and such in our hands in the past.Perhaps it won't even be attempted too many times for consumer devices because, again, there can be fairly costly reactions by both the customers AND governments.
>>108726429If you can wait, the Linus Tech Tips man is developing a fully modular one.ie. As well as the battery cells, you'll be able to replace or swap the USB outlets (like how Framework laptops have socketable I/O), and the daughter board handling the charging protocol too, so that when Apple comes up with some whackadoo new Fast Charge system or the USB Consortium release PD v7 or whatever, if it's not supportable via firmware update you'll be able to order just a new PCB.
>>108726781Fucker charges $70 for a screwdriver.
>>108726685you're paying for charging and usb power delivery circuitry soldered onto some cheap cells in a convenience product
>>108726792Well, yeah, shit costs money to development and manufacture. And you can think whatever you like of the price, but it's reflective of the work they put into its design (something about it's ratcheting mechanism is novel) and that it's machined on the level of something from PB Swiss.tl;dr - If you don't like it, don't buy. Same as with the battery bank if it ever comes to market.
>>108726866>Well, yeah, shit costs money to development and manufacture. And you can think whatever you like of the price, but it's reflective of the work they put into its design (something about it's ratcheting mechanism is novel) and that it's machined on the level of something from PB Swiss.Do you have one shoved up your ass right now or something? Sounds like you're in love with this shitty fucking screwdriver lol
What's a decent battery bank from aliexpress with decent price/quality ratio?
>>108726889Xiaomi/ZMI/Anker/Ugreen/Nitecore and others are generally good brands BUT as far as I can tell somehow very often they're now cheaper elsewhere (their own online store, amazon, local stores and warehouses that are more regional/national in your area). >>>/g/csg/ - Chink Shit General maybe has a different idea tho, ask them too
>>108726429You can literally buy them for like 5 bucks on AliExpress Are they worth it, though?>Retail cost of batteries >Battery balancing>Power input/output ratesDoubt it.
>>108726889At least in the US you don't save much over just buying from amazon or something. I have the 65w compact Inui one and it's pretty nice
>>108726968Xiaomi and Ugreen work but they’re far from good. You get bullshit like "one port has full 100W, the other is 35W max" on ugreen chargers, and their 3.5" drive enclosures have some pants on head retarded design that means you can’t delete files from the drive faster than 8 files per second (I don’t even know, man). Their things work and they’re cheap but they’re firmly mediocre, with odd tradeoffs to save 5 cents per productAnker is good tho. Idk the others
>>108726882As a matter of fact, I do. Linus did extensive testing to ensure that it would properly stimulate the prostate
>>108726866>it costs moneyYour lust for cock knows no bounds. Kill yourself.
>>108727042Bought 3 of these for absolute peanuts. I intend to charge the 18650s with an external Nitecore D2 charger I already have.
>>108726429>Are there any 2x21700 battery banks in the market? You just posted one.Xtar charger with output, you can get them from amajew, they have mixed reviews though. What grinds my gears about them though is that they discontinued the original 18650 version. Though the 21700 one can charge both, i dont need all that extra bulk, because i do not use or own 21700's.>>108726444Exactly why i wanted one, but for camping and backpacking.I use 18650's for my lights and smoke, but i also need to charge my gps and other devices, that i would not trust plugging directly into my solar panel. (they are known to fry sensitive devices)Its hard enough finding a charger that gets along with the panel, it gives most of them errors.
you can buy chips for DiY battery banks for nothing and source your own 18650's to make your own battery bank.or just buy some cheap chinese ones off ebay/aliexpress, it's a solved technology to the point where even the bottom of the barrel products work fine.
>>108728506power bank battery, not drive enclosure.many smaller power banks didn't do multiple 100W+ ports because there's nearly no actual use where that would be needed? IDK, I don't see it as an issue.
>>108726429I have a Liitokala charger from China can both charge and output power.
>>108728914You can't pirate a screwdriver, anon. I suggest getting a job.
>>108726781I'm never buying anything from that idiot. Doesn't he cover up sexual assaults at his workplace and treat his employees like shit? I saw he just bought a private jet too for him and his family. I'm sure he's going to try to spin it and make a video claiming he's going to take employees on trips or some bullshit.
>>108726429XTAR PB2SL V2 can accept 2 21700 unprotected cells (but protected ones won't fit). And i agree with non-interchangeable battery bullshit, lately i wanted to buy bike lights and they all have internal batteries. Ended up buying two 16850 flashlights (one is dual mode with red LED for rear light) and bike mounts.
>>108726429Because they need to be balanced.
>>108732360>I saw he just bought a private jet tooI don't give a shit if he bought a jet, but for some reason him insisting it was "free" pissed me the fuck off for some reason.
>>108732360>Doesn't he cover up sexual assaults at his workplaceWow, i actuality hate the man, but you are on the verge of making me like him. Based as fuck.all female workers get the grope.
>>108732360>dramasnexus cunt still dramaposting about some fake bullshit and whining about a company jet
>>108732464It's some big business thing where, because of the timing that he bought it (just after a big service job/recertification milestone that otherwise costs tens of thousands of dollars- all borne by the previous owner), on balance with what he can sell it for after he's done with it, then given the value it generates via time + cost savings while he has it (plus the whole thing being tax deductible) he would have been retarded not to buy it.I agree it's gross, but it's indicative of a broader problem with the kind of shit we and the tax service let businesses/CEOs get away with, and Linus was just as a astonished as the audience to learn this was possible with smart accounting even with his relatively small business ledgers.
>>108734274>then given the value it generates via time + cost savings while he has it
>>108734274The amortization or the purchase cost of a private jet being tax deductible specially for a small enterprise like his has to be the most jewish thing I've heard in some time, only possible in jewmerica or jewnada.
>>108733110Nexus isn't the one who bought $1 million dollars of "lab tech testing equipment" just to have an excuse to not give his employees a raise or a bonus, and then not even use it to expose the claimed specs of products because it might piss off "the advertisers". Linus is a coward.
>>108726795so build your own
