Is that Ubuntu servers only or available on mirrors?

The snap store is down, which completely kills some programs which Ubuntu forced on there. Firefox can't be updated which is a bit of a pain for liveCD usage.

but wsl on windows is ubuntu. so you're still using ubuntu.

It's telling that other companies have also been attacked by the group over the last weeks. But only Canonical have fallen flat on their face and can't get up.
>>
>>108732548
Security updates only go through security.ubuntu.com, which is/was affected. I don't think having third party mirrors would help unless the package hasn't gotten a security update since the last point release. I know on Debian that's kinda how it works.

Is it true Ubuntu now requires at least 6GB of RAM?
>>
>>108734815
Yes, but it's what they recommend. I think just the desktop itself uses like 2gb by doing nothing.

Ubuntu isn't Linux. It's evolved into it's own thing. Simply using the Linux kernel doesn't make it "Linux" at the end of the day.

they were probably invisibly sitting on some US corperate servers of a specific company waiting for a 0 day to be released. ddosing the security/repos in the time it took for canonical to release the patch is a great idea. draw the attention with a huge extortion fee on canonical in the mean time, and remove the ability for companies to report breaches in the mean time by targetting their auth servers.

if they weren't also doing that theyre dumbasses.

who's "not smart" are the daily wintard /g/eets still struggling with the concept of repo mirrors. or retards who believe whatever association a "hacker group" claims.

trust me the valve fanboys are newfags who come from windows only recently

real linux enjoyers have been on linux for years, the valve cocksuckers are the same people who code in .NET and C# for years, going back to 2016/2017 they were writing in .NET and C#, linux oldfags at that time were in bash/c/gcc

What I really like about Ubuntu compared to every other distro is that the fonts look good out of the box.
>>
there's a reason ubuntu went from 50% market share to under 5%. It's shit. only delusional fanboys still use it.
>>
>>108741603
And this is why it’ll never be YOTLD. As soon as something works too well, you crabs pull it back into the bucket.

There’s no better LTS release right now than Ubuntu 26.04. 5 years of updates, and more if you pay. That’s enough for commerical software vendors to take seriously and target as a platform.
>>
>>108741780
Yes I personally emailed microsoft asking them to pay canonical to destroy the linux desktop

>>
>>108741360
yeah, it needs proprietary drivers to run well

>>108741422
it was way too easy
>>
>>108743405
I always put the drivers in but something about Fedora always seem to be slightly laggy. It could be my imagination though. When I've used Fedora its almost always worry free. I really just wish you could do a vanilla gnome session on Ubuntu.
>>
>>108729999
I guess that answers why I couldn't get an ISO of 26.04 yesterday. I wish I had known about LTS HWE before I did all my distro hopping the past 3 years from Mint.
>>
>>108743457
Depends on the hardware, but you are right, it is usually laggy out of the box and even with proprietary drivers it still stutters on some systems.
It's a hit or miss in my experience.
>>
>>108743497
lel yeah when I learned ubuntu lts / mint have pretty recent kernel / drivers is when I stopped using rolling releases.
I mean, sure, if you absolutely need the latest kernel then go ahead but having a well tested, not so old driver stack is just too convenient.

Good choice, i can't understand the point of Ubuntu, it you aren't a new users, it not make much sense in my view. Just use the puppy Linux and you will be happy.

But what do you want do? In first step.

if the answer is confirming your retardation, then yes, since you could have grabbed it from a million different mirrors as well as torrents.
