This post just makes me imagine a Gen Alpha wanting to go back in time to experience the original 4chan. Using the MetaTimeVision™ they set the year to 2001 and see that google is around (comforting). But then they try and find 4chan and realize it's not there. They try and figure out if it had a different name (4ch, .net, etc), but no luck. Now they're stuck in the year 2001 with 200 Kb/s Internet speeds (assuming they were lucky and got broadband), no AI, no YouTube, and no idea of what to do.

Poorfags will never understand the absolute joy of Sun workstations. This shit will last a lifetime
I can't believe people are actually trying to make cheap intel shit that has uptimes of like 4 hours before it crashes work. x86 will NEVER take the server market. Linux is a poor imitation of real UNIX and NT is an inside joke where everyone in on it has died.
It's a dying platform anyway since Itanium will replace it soon. But who has time to wait for that? Why would you want shitty slow consumer electronics CPUs in your server? The value of internet companies only knows one direction: to the moon. Every dollar you spend on SPARC workstations and Solaris employee training will pay back a thousand fold.

Was equally as weird living in Germany. When the first plane hit in the middle of the day a good chunk of all TV stations had already switched to live feeds. I saw the second plane hit live on air and I don't think there were any channels left broadcasting anything but NY after that. You just had barely enough time to think "wow that's a fucked up accident" before the second plane cut that thought very fucking short.

also doesn't support dos games at all. i'd wait until you actually need it for something

someone actually just recently ported osx to the wii (the wii is basically just a slightly better gamecube), that could maybe be ported itself to gamecube but there's already very little ram on the wii and gc has even less
https://bryankeller.github.io/2026/04/08/porting-mac-os-x-nintendo-wii.html

no it's not very useful, it's osx 10.0, with nearly no hardware peripherals supported, but it is a true port, not like some vm or look-alike

IE:mac is even better and looks nice in Mac OS X's new Aqua interface, and the browser buttons can even change color to match your Mac model. So far, the Tasman rendering engine used in IE:mac is the only one that can pass the Acid1 test for full CSS1 support. So the guy who invented the Bloomberg Terminal, Mike Bloomberg, is running for mayor of New York City. It would be nice to have people in politics who know about technology. I know Bill Clinton did a photo-op in front of a computer but it was obviously staged since there wasn't even a keyboard. Bloomberg actually knows how to use technology. My wife's boyfriend works on Wall Street and he loves his Bloomberg Terminal. If you live in New York City, you should consider voting in the Republican primary on September 11, 2001 to show Bloomberg your support. Maybe even one day he'll be President of the United States.

There was no /g/ in 2001, nor was there 4chan. In 2001i was partying and fucking bitches for most of the year, then September came along the everything was shit. Everyone was too paranoid to party.

>tfw I was passed out on the floor at a friend's house with a bunch of people after a huge house party and was awakened by a kick in the ribs and some random bitch yelling "WAKE THE FUCK UP WORLD WAR 3 IS ABOUT TO START! WE ARE BEING ATTACKED!" and I wake up just in time to see a replay of the first plane, then the second plane hits and I went "oh shit another one!" Then argued with this ham planet cunt for almost 5 mins that it was a second plane and not just another replay of the first until the news confirmed I was right

Then about 40ish mins later BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM... WE ALL FREAK THE MOTHER FUCK OUT... We were a few blocks from the Pentagon.

I am currently inhabiting my 5 year old self. Frankly, I'm in disbelief that the time machine worked, but it only allows you to visit time periods that you were alive for. It seems that it needs a suitable host to put your consciousness into, and all the previous attempts with random strangers were complete non-starters. I'm currently using my father's IBM NetVista, but it's difficult to type on the keyboard. People from my time obsess over this thing, but it's a pain trying to use it with underdeveloped digits.
The return-home relay device isn't operational, so it would seem that I am stuck here for the foreseeable future. I must have unknowingly wished upon a monkey's paw, as the more I think about the situation I'm in, the more I can envision its black, hairy finger curling into its palm. I neither get to enjoy the childlike wonder I experienced at this age nor can I enjoy the era as if I had been born 25 years prior. It truly is the worst of both worlds, and I'm not sure if I can take another 13 years of compulsory education. Not sure if I'll be able to convince my parents to buy certain stocks either.
I have been informed by my mother that I have school in the morning, so I must end my message here. Anon out.
