There are people who actually care about Windows internals?

I was gonna laugh at it because it hadn't been updated since Windows 8.1, but they did finally get around to an edition for Windows 10! Good job!
>Published 5/2017
It's only out of date by nine years! Well done Winjeets! Maybe the Windows 11 version will be out by 2028!

Did you read those? Because I started to and let me tell you these are not your average windows for dummies level.

i dont like modern, updated to Rus t Russinovich, but thats probably a good read

they are though
>>108738178
That's because nothing really changed changed if you are building a service. In fact very little has changed from NT4 to now.

I regret having wasted lifetime reading those back in university 13 years ago. I eventually switched to Linux a few years ago, Windows can't be saved.
>>
>>108738610
Did you read Linux' equivalent though?
>>
>>108738628
I did not, though I did read chunks of the docs.
>>
>>108738610
every read or study is a waste if you never apply it. though, some people like to read technical papers to expand the knowledge and train memory. whats the point of sobering about writing empty messages? theres no point, clap clap on the shoulder, hehehe
>>
>>108737038
yes, the ones who get paid to understand just that

>I NEED to have my OS internals guide UPDOOTED because the kernel of an OS dramatically changes over the course of a couple of years
Isn't one of the main gripes people have with Windows that it's built upon on old stuff and doesn't care to update what works? Please familiarize yourself with technology before going on the technology board, you may stick to /lgbt/ until then.

Niggers don't understand that having a copy to IDA and a couple of PDBs is basically the same thing as having the source code. If your source code is a pile of object oriented jeet shit and has a confusing structure then the decompiler output is actually better than the source because the compiler has filtered out all the object oriented bullshit from your code and now you can see what it's actually doing.

the last "big" jump was NT5 to NT6

Why do windows, now that Linux exists?

If there's a bug that you don't want, you can make your own.
>>
windows is in serious risk of being replaced with a linux fork, same way they did with edge.
Truth is the only thing keeping windows relevant is office and corporate environment, precisely the ones that will benefit the most with a switch to linux.
>>

You can have both at the same time.
Windows can change syscall codes during regular updates. Not even a new major release, one Windows 10 might use different syscalls than another Windows 10, because its on a newer update.
Meanwhile Windows also carries around lots of old garbage for no tangible benefit, because the backwards compatibility is already broken.

Anon, is closed source for a good reason. You don't want to see all that crap, and it only gets worse every day with all the slop and crap pushed there by AI (clankers and indians).

The benefits are for a lot of weird edge cases: Apparently, there's this one daemon that steals a noticeable amount of resources, and a lot of those "Debloated Windows" custom ISOs will disable it by default. This daemon being disabled will indeed boost performance without downsides, unless you want to print anything, then you'll get a bluescreen every time you try
