>>

>>
>>108741095
I made a thread about this on /v/ and tranny janny had to FUCKING DELETE IT when I still had questions.

If you have or have access to a PS2 slim, use FreeDVDBoot to make a FreeMCBoot memory card.
???
Profit.

Based retard
>>
>>108741127
fat ps2 is better because you can put a 4tb hdd in with the network extension and have basically every single ps2 rom ready to go
>>
If I get PSxMemCard, what do I have to do to load games?
>>
BUMP
>>
Use FreeDVDBoot and bootstrap into making a FreeMcBoot memory card
You can buy FreeMcBoot memory cards online.
>>
>>108741193
no its not. use the freemcboot with a slim and use the ethernet-port to load games from your pc. loading times are identical and you dont have to deal with the incredibly loud fan nose from your fat and the mechanical noise from the hdd. yes the noise is a MAJOR problem. the fat is basically unusable because of it.
>>
>>108741193
If you install the full FreeMCBoot, you can use it in any console, so it doesn't matter after that. Use fat or slim.
>>
>>108741277
>yes the noise is a MAJOR problem
No. I have both and I barely notice the fan in the fat.
>>
>>108741307
just because you have low standards, doesnt mean its not a major for normal human beings.
>>
>>108741310
No. You're just autistic.
>>
Get access to a fat ps2 and buy a clone hdd adapter or try to get the official one. You can root it straight from the hdd now, no need to use a chipped ps2 to load freemcboot.
>>
>>108741277
>and use the ethernet-port to load games from your pc
or you could use a fat ps2 and have a 4tb hdd with every iso
>>
Modchip it

>>
you can buy freemcboot memory card cheap online or do it yourself using swap trick.
>>
>>108741277
I use an sd to ide adapter, no noise shits great

PS2 demos are notoriously exploitable. What I did was make a dump of the ISO and replace one of the demos in it with your own .elf homebrew (LaunchElf for instance). On the screen when before you play the demo where it shows the controls you swap the demo disc with your modded burned disc and the homebrew will boot after you press X. From there you can install FreeMCBoot or load into OpenPS2Loader.

I disc swapped James Bond in 2015 and installed freemcboot and streamed games via LAN in 2015, Also had a third party network adapter but I think I some trouble with some bugs running off HDD. I just emulate nowadays too much of a hassle otherwise

OP here, I wanted to clarify that I just want to get ISOs from my PC to my PS2. I have a fat model. Is there any way to do this under 40 or so bucks?
>>
>>108742444
you can buy a freemcboot memory card online for like $15 or
do this
>>108741456
what you need:
>demo disc from ebay or any flea market ($1-5)
>dvd burner ($10)
>single blank dvd-r (electronics store will hook you up for free if you ask nicely)
replace the demo.elf with your homebrew .elf, burn it to the dvd, boot up the demo, swap the disc, press X, jailbroken land
>>
>>108742506
How does a jailbroken PS2 work? How would I actually get the games from that?
>>
>>108742561
once you actually hit jailbroken land you have multiple options.

burn your isos to dvd and play them
load your isos onto usb or hard drive via ftp and play them
you can even network load your games through ethernet

most games play best on dvd or hard drive

It ain't 2004 anymore Pablo, there's no point to hardmodding PS2s.

yeah, no shit
>>
>>108742656
>there's no point to hardmodding PS2s
Can a soft-modded PS2 play PS1 games?
>>
>>108742938
Yes, we have mechapwn now. Even POPStarter has improved a lot in recent years.
>>
>>108741277
I'll never understand noise fags. I WANT my electronics to be as loud as possible. Wish my PC sounded like a gas generator.
>>
>>108741277
Holy fuck if you're going to do all that shit just use a fucking emulator
>>
>>108741348
>I still have my pristine launch PS2 and HDD adaptor in my closet, remember when HDD Loader first came out and we would buy games from walmart, rip them to the HDD, and then reseal and return them
So it's that easy now, huh?
>>
>>108741348
>fat ps2 and buy a clone hdd adapter
The fans on the fats go apeshit when you plug in the HDD adapter.
>>
>>108743114
Just replace the fan with a Noctua
>>
>>108743098
no because emulation is not 100% accurate. small audio crackle here and there ruins the whole experience.
>>
>>108743138
2016 called

>>108743147
He's right, but he's still autistic.
>>
>>108742606
I heard ftp via USB is slow, so what would be the cheapest ftp via hard drive for a far model? Would something like PSxMemCard work without having to load games?
>>
>>108742444
I have a slim but here's my setup, replace NAS with hard drive for yours if you want
>bought FMCB card
>bought SD2PSX
>downloaded library to NAS
>Enabled smb in opl
>Use microSD card for games with compatibility issues over NAS just in case
>Bought a stack of blank CDRs
>Burn the PS1 game you wanna play
>Bought $2 loose disc PS1 shovelware
>Open ulaunchelf to disc swap
>This is the only way to play natively
>optional but reccomended, brook converter to use your prefered controller
>PS1 memory card to save (some games have passwords)
>>
>>108741088
do this, it's awesome
https://github.com/CosmicScale/PSBBN-Definitive-Project
>>
>>108741456
>>108742506
Do I need the fat model to do this or does it work on the slim model too?
>>
>>108743205
It's relatively slow because it came with usb 1.1. imo running it over network would be better
>>
>>108744150
I thought the disc swap method only worked on slims
>>
>>108744216
If it's a slim then there's no need to do a disc swap anyway, cause you can FreeDVDBoot all of them.
>>
>>108741088
Well it can't play any game you want but you might like free mc boot

you can also print a dvd, and take a straw, a paper spitball, and something else to trick the tray sensor, then you have to hotswap the disc as it spins to get around region locks

it's a pain in the ass, free mc boot is what you want probably
>>
>>108744179
>>108743205
It depends on the game. If they are fmv heavy (metal gear solid) or the iso takes up a dual layer dvd (grand theft auto san andreas) then don't attempt USB it is too slow. For more reasonable games think SSX Tricky, DBZ Budokai, Soul Calibur the USB is fine. But like other anon said it's better to use network if you got Ethernet and setup.
>>
>>108744150
>>108744216
These work on all models. Normally PS2 games put up a error or freeze when you eject the disc but demos are special where these two don't apply if you do in a controlled situation.
>>
>>108744466
USB is plenty fast for GTA, but I still don't recommend the USB method anyway. If you have a network adaptor/Slim, just use UDPBD.
>>
>>108744498
USB breaks GTA SA if you drive too fast. It's only 1.5mb/s, the DVD is 5mb/s.
>>
>>108744510
>USB breaks GTA SA if you drive too fast
Played through all of III and SA via USB, with the latter being a game where you can fly a Harrier across the map. Didn't have this issue, maybe you're just using an old version of OPL.
>>
>>108744515
Probably OPL mode stuff, to be honest I can't be bothered with it when dvds just work since the days of swap magic.
