Hey fellas

Need to get an app that automatically sends a text message at a certain time every day.
I know Tasker can do it but it's not easy to use for the person I'm going to be giving it to.

I'm not a FOSS only guy but I do want an app that doesn't sell my data out the wazoo, so I found this on F Droid

https://f-droid.org/packages/com.github.yeriomin.smsscheduler/

It's almost 10 years old. Is it still fine to use or I should look elsewhere due to any security concerns?

The project is dead and was only for android versions 2 through 7.
You are on your own if you install it, if it installs at all.

Why don't you vibe code an app? It must be quite easy if you need that little functionality.

Here's some maintained stuff...

Messaging app replacement. Supports scheduling SMS.

Another one. Supposedly it can also schedule SMS, but I'm not sure.

Here's an interesting project. Might be a fundamental security risk though.

It does install and it honestly does work as dated as it is
But what kind of problems could I face using it?

I never considered this at all. Is it that easy? What AI would I use?

Thank you anon. The trouble is those are replacements for the SMS app and that's one thing I don't really want to do because of the use case here. I'm guessing both those apps are completely safe given they're open source? Since I'd be giving all text messaging data away.

I don't need the thing to be open source but I'm dealing with sensitive data and it's not my device so have to err on the side of caution. I know Taster won't sell my data off

I honestly don't know, anon. I'm a poorfag and I stop paying for AI when I left my previous programming job. I used for code completion inside my IDE and that was it. It was VSCode + a service called Cody (discontinued). The latter granted access to a bunch of LLMs.
The first thing you should do is set up this environment, but I already think that's way over your head. So I suggest this: ask LLMs to assess/evaluate the projects the other anon mentioned and call it a day. It would be better if you could actually set them to look at the code, but that's another different beast. If you really want to try this, drop an email or Discord and I'll help you figure this out (assessing the repos with LLMs, not coding the tool)

Maybe try with IFTTT?

>JUST ASK A SLOPBORG HURR HURR! DON'T LEARN TO DO ANYTHING BY YOURSELF!

This is actually sinister.

I don't presume anon to be a programmer nor a technical dude, so I think it's fair to assume that if he really wants it, it's better for him to try something like that rather than learn to program.
