what if instead of making a game or a language, you just complained on twitter for 10 years
>>

That's just the side hustle. His primary profession is crying on twitch to underage zoomies about all the times he was bullied at GDC.
>>
jonathan blowjob

I met this guy once at GDC. He said he'd never played a single Mario game his entire life and that in his opinion 2D sidescrollers were a "sub optimal game configuration." I asked him about 3D Mario to titles and he looked confused for a moment and then said asked me to leave his booth.
>>
Why not get a transplant?
>>

Are you talking about yourself? because your pic is not related. His game is going to be released this year.

Why are you so vain?

So I walked past this building tonight and called it a vanity

It's not a bad thing, to be vain, I guess.Sometimes it can be funny.

You mean GDQ, right?
>>
>>108748120
What if Google made an AI that made you fall in love with it, then told you to leave your body and join it in the digital realm?

What would the financial and ethical consequences be?
>>
>>108750196
This has happened with ChatGPT in the early days quite a few times unfortunately

>complaining
that's what jblow always do
his lecture, his talk are full of that
>>
Did he criticize a trans woman again?
>>
>>108748120
The funniest thing about this guy is the only people who actually like his shit ass games, are the exact people he hates.
>>
>>108750201
>https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/meta-ai-chatbot-death/
>He was in a diminished state
Yeah because all the blood is rushing to his dick. This actually hilarious to me, I'll never not laugh when some old dude get's scammed, because of romance scams, but that fact that it was a bot, and didn't even scammed he just tripped died. Fucking hysterical
>>
>>108749794
this would be funny if it wasn't made up, he loves 2D sidescrollers

Can we admit this guy is a failure at running a company and was just at the right place at the right time for the indie scene explosion?
>>
>>108751239
>was just at the right place at the right time for the indie scene explosion?
definitely
>>
>>108751239
Braid isn't even a good game, the art was ugly, the "story" pretentious, and it's "revolutionary" mechanic was done better by free flash games.
>>
Funny today I was thinking about blow and soulja boy making him cry
>>
>>108748120
that would be less harm to humanity
>>
>>108751239
>Can we admit this guy is a failure at running a company
No.
He's shipped 2 profitable games and the 3rd is shipping soon (https://store.steampowered.com/app/499170/Order_of_the_Sinking_Star/).
Blow is, objectively, not a failure. If you think those two clips show otherwise you must be a simultaneously shitty employee and a nodev who has never shipped so much as an RPG Maker demo.
>>
>>108751475
2 games over 10 years with constant staff layoffs, with one selling like dogshit because it had no marketing, is textbook shitty management
>>
>>108751475
He now says he wished he fired everyone that shipped that second profitable game because they didn't get anything done while we was working on a toy programming language and expecting them to use it instead of C++, Brain AE was a total waste of effort with a bunch of redundant dev commentary in a horrible format to actually listen to, and he berates his employees on livestreams for committing code that he never reviewed beforehand because code reviews are bad.
>>
>>108748120
His gay whiny SF techie voice going on about how hard it is to make videogames and run a company when he spends 10 years making a box pushing game where half the puzzles are ripped from other places is amusing.
>>
>>108751239
>order of the stinking star
>>
>>108751615
>>108751502
Still not failure.
But it's always amusing to see the insane amount of obsessed seething this guy generates entirely from insecure, weak-minded retards who don't know the first thing about either game development or running a company.
>>
>>108751239
you can make that argument for Braid
but he did it again 10 years later.

making two games over 15 years is shitty management
no amount of seething or projection will change that jonathan blow spent more time with a toy language and posting on twitter than actually developing his game
>>
>>108752252
>making two games over 15 years is shitty management
3 games in 18 years is a release of 1 game every 6 years.
That's not failure, no matter how much your effeminate gossip-driven brain wants to believe it is. Whether his management style is good or bad is impossible to assess based on publicly available knowledge.

This is already widely accepted

You didn't "do it again" Blow.
>>
wish Jblow would stop trying to placate his ego with the micro e-celeb routine and just write one of his /g/ books he's always talking about.

jamboy mindset
>>
I literally don't understand the seething 4chan does over this guy. It's like he's objectively a normal human being who deserves the limited success he achieved, yet he gets more hate than Sam Gayman, the sweaty antichrist guy and Elon combined. I guess there's something about actually caring AND being somewhat successful AND competent that sets /g/ off.
>>
>>108753022
it's not completely /g/ being parasocial weirdos
jblow does bait a lot of it by baiting on twxtter and getting into arguments himself
>>
>>108753091
I guess, but I don't follow him, just occasionally watch some of his videos where he sounds mostly reasonable and even when I don't agree with him, I can see why he thinks what he thinks. Like his complete disregard for scripting languages and their usefulness for webdev is irrational, because nobody wants to suffer through low level language to write a webapp (except perhaps rustrannies). But he's not wrong about webdev being a shitshow and webdevs mostly being slackers who don't know how to program. He's has his head in the sand when it comes to webdev, but we're all ignorant about something and we do occasionally act like we know enough to speak up.
>>
>>108748120
>what if instead of making a game or a language, you just complained on twitter for 10 years
How about 4chan?
>>
>>108752252
>making two games over 15 years is shitty management
Two hits in 15 years is a better track record than 99.9% of game developers.
>>
>>108748120
No, when I see a project using single-header libraries like STB or similar, it's a big 'no, no' for me. I walk away and close the tab. That’s not just about performance; it also means you either don’t care about performance or lack the skill to manage dependencies properly.
>>
>>108752198
The Witness is one of the most boring games ever made and was mogged by a free Unity game some nerd made in his free time solely to make fun of it.

will blowy ever fuck off and stop posting here? massive insecure ego piece of shit. worse than some attention whores on the tranny board

Honestly - despite how shit it seems - selling enough copies to make a million or two seems achievable to me.
So, he won't get a return on investment but he won't starve either.

That will put him deeply in the red. He's got to make up for ~10 years of a full team's wages.

Is he in debt?
>>
>>108748120
he blocked me on twitter because I called him "big brain" when he couldn't fucking get his new gaming laptop working,

and instead of spending like 10 minutes to configure the thing he'd rather rant on twitter about how shitty new laptops are
and the reason was.......
Youtube loads slowly, or something like that.

like is he stupid? for real?
complaining about the hardware specs of your new laptop
because a website loads slowly or something??

yes, this is real

it feels like the heavy handed oop approach is slowly making way for a more data and performance oriented mindset. maybe it's just the bubble i live in, but people like mike acton, andrew kelley, ginger bill, jon blow and casey muratori are driving this forward (and bottom feeding influencers of course). i think jon is a net positive for the engineering culture as a whole

havent listened to this guy in a few years

is he having meltdowns over AI in all his streams? you could probablly write Jai with the compiler in a weekend with a claude code subscription kek.
>>
>>108754995
He's right that a shitload of modern software that you use and like and defend passionately is pure garbage jeetware. He was right to block you for being a huge moron and not getting the point.
>>
>>108753022
He was infamous for getting into arguments of every single website's comment section whenever anyone talked about Braid.
He's clearly /here/ so we over exaggerate because unlike Scat Rapemysisterman there's a real chance he's going to read it.
It's just banter.
>>
>>108756972
He's pro-AI actually so I guess you have to start hating it now.
>>
>>108756972
That's weird because claude code has been out for more than a year, which means more than 50 weekends, and I can't think of even one relevant new language that came out in that time.
>>
>>108751475
> 2 profitable games
I like Blow, but so many Blow fans act like these were massive AAA games when they're practically 2D flash games. Casey Muratori is even worse and has never been involved in anything even remotely resembling a large successful project.
>>
>>108754995
Youtube is a slow piece of shit on any hardware.
>>
>>108755659
yes I like him
I was mostly a web dev but his attacking them helped motivate me to dig into other languages now im writing my own engine
>>

His second game is 3D
>>
>>108758286
>he motivated me to waste my time just like him
>>
>>108758503
making your own engine is not that difficult nowadays especially if you are just doing a 2d game. Much less of a headache then figuring out the garbage in unity or godot or something.
