In order to prepare you for the inevitable AI takeover?I'm visiting my dad's during the weekends in order to pick up fixing cars and basic electrician shit. And you?

If white collar layoffs actually skyrocket, then consumption would collapse and the people getting rich would be the types who demand services to their lambos in Dubai, which is already done by low-skill slaves. The trillionaires left standing won't demand 50,000 plumbers each. Blue collar job "skills" are only scarce because blue collar jobs suck shit. If they remained as the only option in the economy, wages would collapse due to unbelievable labor surplus. If you actually believe the end is nigh, learn how to be self-sufficient so you don't need to spend any of your $50 of monthly allotted food tokens on plumbing problems.

>>108754022I haven't bothered. If everyone who gets displaced by AI transitions to trades then there will be so much competition you will NOT be able to find a job doing trades no matter how much prices are lowered to the point of it not being sustainable to earn a living. It's like starting over again at level 1 in a video game where you're earning coppers instead of being max level earning multiple gold coins per kill. Furthermore the automation wont end with white collar jobs. The robots have been doing really precise movements and the companies are hiring tradesmen to teach the ai robots how to do their jobs, so by the time anyone starting now makes it to a level where other people would want to hire you, they wont because robots will be available.
>>108754150Yes, the reasons robots don't do more low-skill labor are the robots are dumb, energy costs are too high, and robots are not ideal at certain customer-facing roles. The hypothetical presupposes the first two problems are solved, so maybe everyone can just be a retail employee and help people find where their favorite glue sticks are at Target.
>>108754022I'm not going to let AI stop me from pursuing what I've always wanted to do.
>>108754022i dream with opening a plant nursery someday desu. for bonsai material specifically.>>108754150>The robots have been doing really precise movementsread papers on the latest locomotion and manipulation research. it's all moslty fragmented and incremental improvements to subsets of problems. it's all actually in diapers still. it'll be a while before robots can do anything useful, let alone be deployed at any large scale (outside of static/repetitive factory tasks with a robot arm and such, that stuff's way easier)
Fuck, I fell for the same dumb - chase the current trend for a good job™ - meme and got a business degree back then instead of simply choosing something, thats at least somewhat interesting>>108754387yeah, this notion of woowie there are currently +10 new job openings in this field, you should consider retraining/switching - is simply retarded
