it is one of the best distro out there
Canonical has done some gay telemetry stuff and snap packages are generally inferior to the pre-existing alternatives.
>>108754684Is any mainstream distro not forcing age verification on its users?
Nigga you crazyhttps://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/the-future-of-ai-in-ubuntu/81130
>>108754733No, and any small ones that become mainstream enough will also decide to implement it to avoid legal trouble.
>>108754716>Canonical has done some gay telemetry stuffIt’s opt-in. Telemetry isn’t ‘le bad’ and it’s not spying on you.
>>108754758Literally nothing wrong with that, and also Red Hat has a similar view to AI. I’m not sure why anons want to larp in a world where you imagine AI doesn’t exist. Open source is especially starved of contributors so this should be a change you welcome.
>>108754716There are very few snap packages preinstalled. The only snap packages installed by default are snapd (the snap daemon), snap-store (the software center), and a few core snap system libraries like core and gtk-common-themes. Ubuntu uses the APT package manager for the vast majority of its system. Snap and Flatpak are both terrible. AppImage and APT are the best.
literally the worst distro lmaojust use fedora
>>108754924Ubuntu has better defaults for codecs and non-free drivers (normal people want this) and also the advantage of an LTS system. This is why you see Ubuntu along side RHEL as supported platforms for commercial software.
>>108754684They hate it because it works too well. And then what would a person do, use their computer for something productive?
>>108754684Ubuntu isn't Linux. It's literally it's own thing now.
>>108754684it started with the hate of some bad decisions but later became a meme and for some couple of years you were laugh off if you used ubuntunow it's just normal to hate it and that's why it gets hate. THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON: if you comment something negative about ubuntu, it gets you upvotes/likes and indians/bots always want likes>>108754758making accessibility changes to help disable users is le bad now?>>108754770Canonical literally only asks for your harware. Morons here give that shit and more to Valve willingly
>>108755701There is no ‘certified linux’, only linux based systems of which Ubuntu still is.
>>108754684i love. using it right now.
The two worst parts of it>Obsession with Rust>The name: Was Oogabooga linux taken? Why even associate these ‘people’ with linux or even computers for that matter?
>>108754684It's because of the way Canonical has done things in recent memory. Is the same case as Mozilla, doing stupid shit for the wrong reasons. Like pushing ads, telemetry, snaps, and now AI. Stuff not a single soul asked for. And when the backlash gets to them instead of apologizing and turning back, they double down on their retarded shit. Same as microslop does.Ubuntu is still a great OS despite Canonical, just as Windows was despite of microjeet, now look where the latter is. You get the idea.
>>108754770
>>108756411Who paged you? Also aren’t you in hell?
>>108756417
>>108756290I'd use oogabooga Linux or Bixnood Linux tbqhfamdesu
>>108754917Isn't pipewire snap on Ubuntu 26?
>>108756462no
>>108754684I love bubuntu but I hate canonical. Also Debian is done for.Time to migrate to fedora.
They're just a more retarded version of Red Hat.>You don't need X11, try Ubuntu Mir!>Rewrite everything in Python.>Forget Sysvinit and SystemD, Upstart / Usplash is the future!>Remember when Windows 8 tried putting a tablet interface on desktop? Surely we can get it right! (ACKS Unity)>Introducing Ubuntu One cloud storage!>Rewrite everything in Rust.>You don't need flatpak, try Snapcraft!>You don't need coreutils, try our rust rewrite the Ubuntu utils! (you are here)
>>108756493But "mesa-2404" is a snap package. Isn't that the whole graphics stack?Does it not create trouble when uninstalling that?
>>108756527No trouble, mesa is userland and already in the kernel so it just uses that.
>>108756549Thanks for the help mate!So Ubuntu 26 isn't as bad as I thought at first. I will think about using it now. I think I prefer it over other distros.
>>108754684GNOME is ugly, clunky, and constantly fights against you. Leaves a bad impression.>just change your DENew users won't, and ubuntu is historically the first distro recommended to new users. For a new user, the distro IS the desktop environment. And it's a bad one.>who cares about new usersEveryone was a new user at some point. The bad association lingers even when people move on to something better.
>>108754684I dual boot it for work and so far everything just werks. Also it's the most popular distro so every software is tested on it and the set up instructions/scripts are for ubuntu 99% of the time
>>108756290We complain about indians now stuck-in-2004 kun
