Thermal paste needs to be replaced. What do I need, besides new thermal paste, to do that? I have methylated spirits at home. Will that work to remove the old paste or will I need something else? Do I need a special cloth or tool to clean it or will anything clean do the trick? and what thermal paste is good for my laptop’s CPU? It’s a Core i5-1035G1.

My battery health is 73% and I want to replace it. This will be the second time I’ve replaced the battery. This current one is aftermarket and it seems to have a fast discharge. Will I get better battery life from a first-party battery? and how can I verify the battery I’m buying from eBay is a genuine first-party battery? The seller has 100% positive reviews and the product has the Dell logo on it.

I was considering getting a new fan and heatsink but, having looked at them, they both seem ok. Is it worth spending the money to replace them at this point? I also looked underneath the fan but there’s hardly any dust. Maybe there’s dust under the heatsink, I can check when I remove the back cover next time.

I want to put in another RAM module. It says in the user manual the only possible configurations are any variation up to a maximum of 16GB. Is that just because the manual was written at a time when 16GB cards weren’t widely available or is it a hardware limitation? because I want to put in a 16GB card as the second bringing my total to 24GB but I won’t do that if it won’t work, I’ll just get an 8GB module.

No, it's usually a hard cap by the motherboard. It just wont recognize more.

IPA and toilet paper. A lof of solvents are good but IPA evaporates quickly and doesn't leave a residue
