I built a Tinder-style dating app where all the profiles are horses — and you can actually chat with your matches thanks to LLM-powered conversations.

Each horse has a unique personality. Thunder the Arabian is a cocky speedster. Pearl the Lipizzaner is a classical diva. Copper the Quarter Horse texts in cowboy slang. When you match and open a chat, the LLM stays fully in character — flirting, making horse puns, referencing their interests, the whole thing.

How it works:

Swipe through 10 horse profiles (drag or tap the buttons)
~70% chance of matching when you swipe right
"It's a Match!" animation with floating emoji
Open a chat messages go to a free LLM API (LLM7.io, no auth required) with a per-horse system prompt
Falls back to smart scripted responses if the API is down

Tech stack: React, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind CSS, Framer Motion, LLM7.io (free, no API key needed)

What I found interesting building this:

Writing distinct system prompts that make each horse feel genuinely different was the hardest part. Temperature 0.9 helps a lot.
The free-tier LLM API landscape is surprisingly usable now. LLM7.io gives you GPT-4o-mini with zero signup — just POST to the endpoint.
Framer Motion's useMotionValue + useTransform makes the Tinder swipe mechanic (with the rotating LIKE/NOPE stamps) surprisingly easy to implement.

The whole thing is a single-page app that builds to one HTML file. No backend, no database, no auth.

Yes, this is silly. No, horses cannot use phones. But the AI conversations are genuinely entertaining — Ghost the Andalusian tried to recite poetry to me and Shadow the Percheron apologized for being "too big to fit through the chat window."

Happy to answer questions about the LLM integration or the swipe mechanics.

Want me to adjust the tone (more technical, more humorous, shorter) or tailor it for a different platform?

can the horses send racy photos?

you would have had guaranteed funding from (((genderists))) if you marketed this as a Grindr for horses instead.
considering "gay animals" is one of the primary "arguments" used for normalizing faggotry, (((they))) would feel compelled to use such a "platform" to further that "argument".

Hey there, Matt from Stallion here.
Great question and honestly this is some of our most requested feedback since launch. We're super heads down on this right now and I can share that it's on the roadmap for Q3. We want to make sure we're doing it in a way that's thoughtful and doesn't compromise the core experience we've worked so hard to build.
The short answer is: yes, but we're being very intentional about the rollout. We're exploring a freemium model where basic photo sharing is available to all users, with a premium tier ("Stallion Gold") that unlocks more... expressive content. We've been in conversation with a few strategic partners around content moderation to make sure we're scaling this responsibly.
The technical lift is actually pretty minimal — the harder problem is the trust and safety surface area. Horses are a vulnerable population and we take that seriously.
If you want to be an early tester when we open up the beta, there's a waitlist at the link in my bio. We're onboarding in waves to make sure the quality bar stays high.
Appreciate the engagement — this kind of community feedback is genuinely how we prioritize. We're building this for you guys.
