Huh, I disliked how deluge doesn't keep track of lifetime data use without using some dumb plugin that I didn't want to use, so I wrote a quick powershell script instead to do it using the network interface (since I already have Deluge slaved to a dedicated virtual network interface that nothing else uses) Turns out Deluge uses ~140MB every 15 minutes just from DHT and basic protocol traffic.Honestly surprised it's this high, deluge itself only shows payload data in their bandwidth logging, so i'd never see how high the background data use was. From my log file;> [Tue 05/05/2026 18:38:43.53] [STATS] Delta -> RX: 70.1 MB | TX: 72.89 MB> [Tue 05/05/2026 18:53:43.56] [STATS] Delta -> RX: 69.21 MB | TX: 71.97 MB> [Tue 05/05/2026 19:08:43.56] [STATS] Delta -> RX: 69.41 MB | TX: 72.05 MBThough since i'm measuring interface traffic and it's the same interface my VPN is slaved to, TECHNICALLY it's showing some VPN protocol traffic too, but the VPN i'm using is pretty lightweight in API and telemetry, so i'd still estimate ~80-90% of the traffic is coming from Deluge (primarily DHT). Anyway, just thought it was interesting how much traffic a totally idle torrent client uses, around 450GB/month if run 24/7 (which I do) without downloading a single torrent.
>>108761929Yeah put this script next to the restart everyday script and the vpn rebind script. What a shit client.
>>108761551>jpopsuki is killno

>>108762084Meh, the entire thing is ~50 lines of actual code. Took not much time at all, and works without any problems.Imagine being such a lazy cunt you can't even write a basic script to improve your software, you just go out and migrate your ENTIRE torrenting workflow to a new software stack.Wewlad.
>>108762153>Imagine being such a lazy cunt you can't even write a basic script to improve your softwareimagine using software made by some lazy cunt that requires the end user to jump through hoops for it to werk
>>108762183None of the scripts i've written have "fixed" anything that wouldn't allow Deluge to work. All my fixes do is improve it.You can run deluge for weeks on end if you don't care about high memory useSimilarly, if you don't care about 100% IP leak protection, you can just use standard split tunneling or similar methods. And bandwidth tracking has literally nothing to do with actual function of the client, just a nice to have data point.
>>108762222>witnessedhaven't been around for a couple of weeks, so -aside from analysing its network traffic- what kind of improvements did you make?
>>108762089try logging in
>>108762311i'm already logged in, works on my machine.
>>108762293My script monitors my VPN network interface and forwarded port and makes sure deluge stays strictly bound to that interface and port, preventing any possible IP leak.It also runs a basic 24 hour timer and safely restarts deluge after 24 hours to prevent long term memory use from increasing over time. it's also smart enough to automatically rebind deluge if the internet drops in the middle of the night or while i'm at work, or if the VPN goes down for an extended period, whenever it comes back up it automatically reconnects (and ensures deluge is using the correct interface and port again). And the new one I wrote today just tracks bandwidth use.So again, none of them "fix" something about deluge that is inherently BROKEN; they just improve things for my specific use case.
>>108762222>You can run deluge for weeks on end if you don't care about high memory usei already run qbit, tixati and 2.2.1 only rebooting for updates every 5-6 weeks, with no worries about memory even with thousands of torrents across the three.you're just using a shit client and coping with custom scripts
>>108761327Nah that's GGn's default state.
>>108762360Again, I really, GENUINELY don't care what other clients can do. I really don't.I'm not migrating ~10TB of torrents to a new client
I am on all top tier trackers. You can find 95% of media worth consooming with a simple search on google, or using one of the popular sites (slsk, rutracker, nyaa etc). I mean if you have the accounts use them, you can probably find/download at higher speeds that file your friend acted in that 2003 indie production. Otherwise it's about losers wanting to feel special in a private circlejerk outside of the other normies, or so they would call them. They might have that hot capepoop movie 20 min faster than you, and something very obscure a month earlier, eventually it will trickle down, but if you have a life you won't care about this level of autism. There's no point in grinding for 2 years and do the dance to the fags who hold the keys to these places. Even the average /ptg/ hates these obnoxious fags. Ultimately you can lie to such 'public shitters' but not me. I know when you are bluffing and full of shit.

>>108761929>Turns out Deluge uses ~140MB every 15 minutes just from DHT and basic protocol traffic.that plus the hundreds of connections it keeps open is why I leave DHT off. PEX, opentrackr, and maybe a couple backup trackers are more than enough for any public magnets I post or on rare occasion snatch. I thought Anons here were joking when they said seedboxes instagrabbed anything you uploaded on RED. But holy shit it's true, I start getting upload the second the torrent is sent to the tracker.

>>108764024It sounded unreal to me, considering REDs economy. didn't imagine people would be autosnatching this fast when buffer is so valuable.
>>108764029It's a pyramid scheme. The seedboxes get buffer from downloading from you then uploading to each other. If you buy an expensive seedbox you can do it too. I will probably do that someday just because I take so much from RED. To cope with having a shit ratio I token farm on OPS.
>>108764029That's how they get buffer.Download first, upload fastest.

>>108764199> they don't know that qBittorrent has always been like thatDon't even try to update to x.0 versions. They somehow manage to always break something.
>>108765005Most of its torrents are public, and have been re-uploaded everywhere, so you are effectively using public observable swarms. The rest depends on the sate of copyright lobbying in your country.Pornolab is just Rutracker with minimal protections against technically illiterate idiots. It was actually part of the Torrents.ru back in the earliest days, then they split the forum.By the way, if you believe that on “secret” private tracker no one can collect your addresses, you are mad.
>>108765690>By the way, if you believe that on “secret” private tracker no one can collect your addresses, you are mad.but they won't
>>108765690But on private trackers you need a valid passkey to collect people's IP addresses. This is why most of the time the copyright trolls go for the low hanging fruit in public swarms. It's more niche things that don't have as much public activity that have been attacked. Like gaytorrent recently and danishbits in the past.
>>108765609Paypigs glaze usenet for THIS?
>>108765706>>108765707I guess that you are too young to remember all the stories about tracker databases getting hacked or leaked by mods working for competing trackers or entertainment industry, or admins getting arrested or personally pressured to close the thing. Scary letters are for general public, private high-level file sharing communities, especially the ones with actual releasers, is where real detective work and bribery starts.Private trackers are not made by activists who believe that information must be free. Private trackers are businesses created around providing access to exclusive content, pyramid scheme circlejerk, and donation extortion form the user base. People who run them are generally the same people who run streaming sites or adware and malware networks. There is no doubt they are going to throw everyone else under the bus when offered such option.
>>108765833That's the problem, people barely pay anything for Usenet with all the deals around. They literally do not have the money to keep petabytes of hot storage online, which is why they actively wipe data.
>>108765837>There is no doubt they are going to throw everyone else under the bus when offered such option.TrvkeCase in point: any french or gernan tracker, IPT etcIronically I think AB admins are the least likely to dumb stuff

>>108765596on omg no matter what i upload, it gets auto-grabbed, at least partially shielding it from deletion.
>>108765837>Private trackers are businesses created around providing access to exclusive contentPrivate trackers are more akin to secret societies, with rites of initiation and tiered membership where a higher rank affords access to more content and secret knowledge (gnosis)

is jps kill?
>>108766168what is IPT's
>>108765996I should elaborate and state that it makes little sense for people on public trackers to originate content when private trackers and the scene organize the activity. So however it reaches public going from private tracker->public tracker is the path of least resistance. Usenet or paid scene FTP accounts would work too but private trackers are a better and more obvious source to pull from.>>108766192https://iptorrents.com/ which also operates the "TvTeam" bot on many public torrent sites and the public site of their own https://uindex.org/The purpose is advertising their trackers and IPTV services. If you go to uindex you see pic related. Their bot uploads on public trackers often advertise their shittier private trackers that have open signups, unlike the mothership IPT where you need to either pay or get invited to join.
>>108766117There is no need to bullshit me. I do remember the early years, when each cool guy on the internet opened his own torrent tracker (using regular hosting services and half-working forum engines). Most of them did not last long. They often were pretty ignorant. They have changed nicknames and have transferred official management to other accounts long ago, but there is no doubt media giants have some dirt on them, and can ensure that their enterprises are not too successful and too popular.
>>108766221Sure thing grandpa. Now let's get you to bed.

>>108766309There is a lot you don't understand. All this shit isn't free. Someone has to buy it and upload it. People who enjoy that sort of thing getting together and choosing who is going to do what means less money spent overall and more releases available. This is how scene groups formed despite the competitive aspect. This is how releasing works on BTN. A lot of the work is duplicated at this point which is actually good because if say the regular uploader on BTN runs into technical issues you can have a release from BHD or scene as a backup. Users were raving mad about losing their e-penises, and even the very thought that they could be equal to common plebs, some deleted their topics and left because of that betrayal.Pornolab is similar, even if pretends to be counting everyone's upload. You just need to gather enough upload initially to jump over new user limits (3 torrents/day, etc.) by seeding public torrents (use file name listings and btdigg) or using monthly free leech days or New Year and July free leech weeks.https://pornolab.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1182436But you are probably not aware that the biggest pirate site once enforced removal of torrents containing programs form Microsoft, Adobe, and other publishers, or recent sport events. Try using Wireshark to see what the actual packets are, and how many of them actually reach the application. Compare with NirSoft tools, they show stats instantly.

Someone's balls are just grabbed, just like that.I haven't read about the history of the tracker and when the things you describe was happening, I was probably too young to know. I started using the internet in 2009 and I started torrenting stuff around 2015 - 2016. I was using public trackers because I didn't know private ones existed but when I learned about private tracker, public trackers didn't make sense.
>>108766900I heard that some companies in China fix their traffic ratio to satisfy the ISP contract rules by generating useless bittorrent traffic from global peers. Also check how many packets have been discarded by the interface (wrong destination) or the firewall.
>>108765837>>108766309There is a difference between archivism and 0day piracy. 0day piracy is fueled by monetary gain for the most part.
>>108767072Private Internet Access (when using WireGuard) relies on the Wintun virtual network adapter for Windows. Unlike older TAP adapters that emulate raw Ethernet frames (and can sometimes inflate stats with ARP broadcasts and empty padding), Wintun is a pure Layer 3 (IP) adapter. When my script calls Get-NetAdapterStatistics, it is querying the Windows Network Driver Interface Specification stack. NDIS counts the exact byte-length of the IP packets successfully passed to the virtual adapter. It does not count the memory ring buffers holding them.At this point my best guess is that the way PIA handles split tunneling is leaking some OS level traffic through the VPN instead of routing it through my normal network adapter. From looking at resource monitor though, it's matching pretty closely to what i'm observing. I might install wireguard or similar later to look deeper, but for now it's fine.

Whether it's me spending all my NEETbux to buy digital releases to pre or someone with motivation to have games leaked pre-release offering money to make it happen the end result is basically the same isn't it?
