So I made an image board.

Fun project so far, It is locally hosted on my raspberry pi

The database uses raw hardcoded SQL. I used Cloudflared for nameserver routing and Nginx on the Raspberry Pi for the web server.

You need not be so negative. Your site is already tiers above the vast majority of sites being shat out by webshitters. Not having giant piles of hideous javascript frameworks puts your site at grade-A level relative to modern standards.

There is actually nothing wrong with vibecoding this kind of thing. Its nothing new or novel. It can quickly get something up and running that would have taken a lot of tedium to code manually. A minimal pile of ai slop is still orders of magnitude better than the stuff webshitters shit out every day.

>>108764301
No it isnt. It's all the modern crap (which AI is trained on) but exponentially worse in every possible way.

Setting up a site and getting online takes more that zero effort. Also, vibecoding is fine for trivial projects. This image board he's made only has a few thousand lines of code, AI is perfect for getting an initial skeleton going. What he needs to do going forward though is read and understand every change the AI makes, vibecoding goes wrong when you don't understand what the AI is doing.

>>
>>108764390
I suppose it depends on what exactly you define as vibecoding. If you mean, don't even look at the code and just ask the AI to make changes then obviously you are going to have a bad time. But if you use the AI as an assistant rather than having it do everything for you, things will work a lot better. AI is dumb as a sack of rocks, but much of programming is boilerplate, and AI is good at doing that if you direct it properly.

why should someone use effort to create a simple website type that has been created 1000 times already.

do you also create a new programming language and compiler from scratch every time you start a new project? if not why? Are you some kind of nocoder vibeslop faggot? coding without making your own compiler and language is zero effort.
>>
>>108766270
>why should someone use effort to create a simple website type that has been created 1000 times already.
Good question.
Why vibecode a dysfunctional shell of a website, if the same type is already available and OpenSource? >>108764467

Well I'm glad your raspberry pi isn't sitting in a drawer like how most of them end up.
I tried to access the site just now and got "cloudflare tunnel error", so presumably your connection is down or your Pi crashed or something.

>AI is perfect for getting an initial skeleton going. What he needs to do going forward though is read and understand every change the AI makes
And in the process rewrite everything the AI has written. At the end of the day, you have to go through the effort anyway, but with the AI skeleton, it will be more demotivating.

Usually you get all the backend stuff and basic functionality sorted and care about the CSS last. With a vibecoded start, you immediately got a layout, that looks alright at first glance, but with buttons that mostly do nothing and you then do tedious implementations.
I don't know how enjoyable or fun that is. For me this would be very frustrating.

Good luck with that when they don't use their brains (like you, moran!)

So you agree... VibeCoded slop is slop and unmaintainable because (YOU) have no idea what the Lying If/Else Machine hallucinated for you and you're better off

>Or just clone vichan and put more work
Do this. You'll actually LEARN instead of asking the Lying If/Else Machine to do work (YOU) should be doing to learn how shit functions.

Hell, if you implement shit that is USEFUL, maybe JUST MAYBE vichan will put it in their codebase and that gives (YOU) an employment legup/tooting of horn as "contributed to a project."

Thanks for the advice.

>>108766739
I like the brownish design and i think you will be better off continuing this. It may become great.

But it depends on how much you actually used AI. If you vibe coded the whole thing, you may hit a wall soon... and then you would waste your time with slop and learn nothing.
You have to avoid that.

Friend. I appreciate the idea of wanting to build something to rival your favorite website 4chin. But, vibecoding slop is bad. Learning is good. Use AI to learn, and you will go far!

Turn this website into a lesson on monitoring, automated deployments, moderation. Or, use the AI to guide you on learning a framework. /photo/ and /Photo/ routing to different things is an extremely easy rookie move that AI will fuck up, but if you know what you're doing you wont fuck it up.

Keep learning anon, I'm rooting for you :)

NTA but since it seems like you're at least trying rather than being a faglord, what I'd recommend is have an AI go through and explain every bit of the code to you so you have a general idea of what it's doing. Make tweaks while you review it and keep asking questions until you understand what's going on.
You don't need to know everything all at once. You just need to make sure you understand what your website does and how it works. Also don't share you're work without checking back over it.
>>
>>108766343
I agree. When AI generates a template then you have to go through the template and figure out how it works. Half the time it's overkill because it used whatever source it considered optimal in that moment, if you back-and-forth a bit the LLM will likely suggest a near complete rewrite. What's better is to have them generate a template and use it as a reference.
