I love how much disinformation surrounds the K2 initiative because journoscum have been living off of peddling shoddy negative news about Windows for years and can't be bothered to do their job and do proper research before babbling on about shit.

-Microsoft has been noticing that there are major instabilities with 24H2 and 25H2 that didn't exist in 23H2 last year. Before the K2 initiative was announced. And around that time Windows team internally started working towards establishing it.
-It's not going to be an update, or a major release of 11, or Windows 12 or whatever. Think of it like Arch, a rolling release. They'll continuously refactor Windows 11 and push out those changes as time goes on, and we'll likely see the fruits of it in 26H2 once they compile all those changes in a feature update.

It's pretty clear to me that the Windows team genuinely wants to un-fuck Windows. While the initial announcement was posted by a jeet, which caused plenty of midwits to dismiss the whole thing, they did assign a white guy that's been at the company since Ballmer for the whole native rewrite project, which to me signifies they actually give a shit.

And to me, it seems like a lot of the enshittification came from the top, where the Windows division is fighting their own company in the classic Microsoft fashion. The top says "add Copilot in everything to make stocks go up". The top says "add agentic AI" and the Windows team realizes how bad of an idea it is you need to jump through hoops to enable it in preview versions. Now the Windows team wants to unfuck the code, but the top says "you need to meet these quotas for AI coding or else it's bye-bye".

It really does seem like what happened to Win11 is in many ways not the fault of the Windows division, but Satya and his prioritization of the IR department over everything else.

Is it just me or Win11 feels a little big laggy whenever multitasking is involved?
Ex. I've been trying multiple OS on my spare PC with very similar workloads.
I tried:
>Ubuntu 26.04
>Win10 Pro
>Win11 Pro
Workolads:
>Ruby development with Zed
>Multiple browser windows streaming camwhores
>Installing and managing virtual machines (Boxes / KVM on Ubuntu, VMWare Workstation on Windows)
>Youtube playing
>Input-leap / Synergy
Ubuntu and Win10 performed perfectly fine, absolutely no lag, everything snappier, but I did feel Win11 a bit sluggish specially when tab rotating and going back and forth with the VM.
Now, in Win11's defense, my PC is potato compared to modern standards, but still. I hope this get fixed with whatever they're trying to come up with.

It's for the kind of feature BIOSes have like EZ-Flash, where you put the FAT32 USB with the BIOS update file in the BIOS slot and go to the EZ-Flash or whatever the mobo calls it section after you boot into it and it reads the USB allowing you to install the BIOS update directly from the BIOS itself.

If I want to stay on Windows10, is IoT LTSC my only option now? Can I "upgrade" my current Win10 to LTSC without losing anything?

For Win11, is Pro OK? I don't really know the differences between Home/Pro/Enterprise. What I do know is I'd like to be signed in to my personal Microsoft account since I use some of the sync features and use some of the MS bloat like the Xbox app for vidyagames

Any help welcome

Just load up MAS from the irm command in the OP in an admin powershell and run the TSforge module to enable ESU, which'll give you another three years of updates.
>>
>>108785034
Oh thanks, I think I'll do that for my current laptop. I didn't even know that was an option, can I just do that on base Windows 10 Home?

It's my new laptop that came with Win11 I'm also asking about tho cause I'm wondering whether to just keep 11 on that and if so what's the best route. It can run Win10 too but trying to figure out what's best before I set up.

>>108785069
Just change the edition of the 11 install to Education or Enterprise, reactivate with MAS HWID and run something like CTT's winutil, ShutUp10 or Winhance on it to disable shit like the telemetry. And yes you can enable the ESU on Home as well.

>>
>>108785233
Changing edition isn't as drastic as say back in the XP days. You can change the edition of any 10/11 install and you don't need to re-install or anything, just re-activate.
IoT LTSC 2021 is the last 10 based LTSC while 2024 is the first 11 based one. If your PC parts are newer it makes more sense to use 2024.

Thanks. My laptop is about 4 years old at this point, I bought it new. Is LTSC iot the only version of Win11 to consider? In the OP it says only consider it if you fell for the 12th gen intel meme. Would Enterprise or Pro be OK or no?

> You can change the edition of any 10/11 install and you don't need to re-install or anything, just re-activate.
Is there a guide on how to do this for a dummy like me? I found a Youtube guide but it says you need a key and i don't think the script in the OP generates a key for me to use as opposed to just activating Windows.

Another dumb question, how do I back up everything easily in case the upgrade process does go wrong?
I'm thinking of putting my old laptop onto 10 LTSC iot just to see how it goes.
My only concern is losing my Home license, can I keep that somewhere too just in case?

Thanks very much, I'm grateful for the help here
>>
>>108785347
At this point there's no real reason to not install 11 on something besides using 2024 to do it. Keep in mind that LTSC is just a long term servicing version of Enterprise which doesn't come with a majority of first-party and no third-party UWP apps, so it's very lean. Plus comes with 10 years of updates from what it was released.
MAS makes changing editions and activating stupidly easy. And if you want to keep your Home license for whatever reason then don't change it and just run the ESU activator via TSforge. Also to answer your other question you use Enterprise/Education because you can disable a vast majority of the deep telemetry which you can't on Home/Pro.

Isn't ltsc much slower to get feature updates though? Not that I care that much but with how borked 11 is, any update is welcome to make it less borked.
That's why I considered Enterprise, but is iot ltsc 2024 just best then?

I'll look into MAS thank you. Is there a quick guide? Is this site alright? https://massgrave.dev/windows10_eol#windows-10-iot-enterprise-ltsc-2021
As for keeping my home license, I only sort of meant as a backup or key if anything were to go wrong so I could just go back to it.

It seems that the LDAP extension isn't installed or enabled on the web server that the Moodle you're trying to access is running on. Do you own this web server? If not you might need to message the admin.
>>
>>108785446
LTSC doesn't get feature updates (only security updates), so if you want that then use 11 Enterprise via the 11 Business ISO you can get from the massgrave site. And yes that's the correct site.
This is also why a lot of people are excited for LTSC 2027 as it will seemingly have all the fixes coming to 11 via the K2 Initiative while having the long support cycle.
>>
>>108785461
>LTSC doesn't get feature updates (only security updates),
Thanks. Then I am curious honestly, why does it get recommended so much?
Surely the feature updates are quite important when Windows 11 is quite poor as an OS and needs a lot of work? Or am I wrong?
Also why Business Enterprise rather than regular Enterprise? Sorry for all the questions btw, never done this before don't want to screw anything up.
>>
>>108785446
LTSC has the upside of not being the beta tester for Jamboy Nutella for free, if you haven't heard of the "this new Windows update will destroy your SSD due to curry code" news lately.

>>
>>108785488
Oh right, very good point actually I forgot about the shitload of those articles I read.
Enterprise lets you delay updates though, right? I could stay like 2 months behind to be safe?
Is iot missing anything useful at this stage or nope? 2024 would just smooth upgrade to 2027 once I'm on it right?
>>
>>108785478
It's feature static and lean. And any performance update that comes with a feature update comes with a monthly update anyway.
And Business is just the name of the ISO that comes with Enterprise as a selectable edition within the setup.

I'm trying to access it through my PC - through personal internet connection - and although it lets me enter as a guest, I'm unable to do so with my own credentials.

you can defer updates entirely and when you want to update eventually you download the cumulutive update from microsofts catalog site.

thank you. I think that's settled it in my mind then I'm going for Enterprise. I think I even read you can change the registry to just auto delay updates by 2 months or so which sounds good.
I'll start looking things up on how to do it. Appreciate the help bros.

Still undecided on my old laptop whether to just enable ESU till '28, or put iot ltsc 10 on that one

you can delay up to a year but you can put 60 days if you want

You gotta get in touch with your school's IT guy then seemingly.

windows installs can be quick and painless you ju8st have to not follow Microsoft's stupid script

Installing Windows offline and then turning on Windows Update after you've set up group policies/used a policy switchboard is the much better way.

ya but then i have to unplug the ethernet cord
>>
>>108785616
Just don't have it plugged in until you need it?
>>
>>108785565
is that a third party program you're using to do that?
i think 60 days is a safe buffer
hopefully

Wait, I did it!
I asked for a new password, and after changing it, it let me in. (i also admit of putting the usernumber wrong, so that might have contributed to it).

Anyways, thank you for responding and for trying to solve my issue. :)

Yikes

That's like the whole reason UWP programs even exist ie so the same programs can run on both a Windows PC and an Xbox, like how App Store apps can run on both macOS and iOS

Parents got a new laptop but wanted a version of Office on it that they wouldn't have to renew yearly. Just want to double check that I did this right:
>Uninstalled the Office 365 that came with the laptop and restarted
>Grabbed Office 2024 Home IMG file from OP and installed
>MAS ohook to activate
I got a notice on MAS about Smart App Control being set on Evaluation and was told to turn it off or Office might not launch anymore. So I wonder if I fucked up somewhere.

So the laptop already came with Office 365 pre-installed through the OEM? Did you uninstall it through Programs and Features and then use the Office Scrubber script? That truly removes an Office install from a PC. Then installing Office 2024 and activating with Ohook should work just fine.
>>

I only used the Office Troubleshooter from Microsoft that runs a powershell script. Is that the same as Office Scrubber?
Installing Office 2024 and activation looked like it was successful, but that one notice about Smart App Control had me a bit worried.
