I won't deny cheaper keyboards living long, but I only bought 2 mechanical ones so far(one for each PC) and other than having to replace a few switches, they still work even after several years.

I've been using the same logitech wireless keyboard since 2010.
The capslock key is a tiny bit wobbly since I use it as my push to talk, but it has no issues being pressed even when at a weird angle.
Pic is similar to what I have, I've never been able to find my exact model.

It's funny because I'm still using my OG Ducky Shine 1 from the early days of /mkbg/ faggotry. I've tried some newer keyboards (anything smaller than TKL is for fags) but even with some flaws on the Ducky (made in Taiwan, not China) is still the best. Having a right Windows key also makes some hotkeys (Win + L for lock) easier as well.

After 46 years the K120's plastic has not only started changing colors, but is also slowly turning back into oil and has become very sticky, so it's impossible to clean and leaves a toxic residue on the user's fingers. Nonetheless, he keeps using it because AI and poo-people took his job and he can't afford a new one.

I got a redragon 556, and I like the feel of it, but the 'a' key occasionally takes a bit to respond. What the fuck is the deal with that? Changed the switch, drivers blah blah, but it just doesn't fire sometimes on first press. Fucks me up in video games.

i can't stand the feeling of membrane keyboards. i can't stand those gamer mechanical ones either with those smooth switches. i just want my keyboard to fight me a bit when i press the key and click to let me know it's been actuated. cheap blue switches are all you need.

to use linux you don't have to eat your own toenails and refuse to use a credit card like Stallman.

I put this together (found a case/pcb/plate/switches/stabs I wanted on aliexpress and soldered everything) in Nov 2020 looking at the metadata and I'm still using it today (i did change the blank keycaps shortly after when I found a set I liked on ali).

i use this fella i got for a good price on ebay and i love it a lot. i wish it had a numpad and had illuminated letters but neither are so detrimental to me that i wont use it. I care more about keycap shape than i do switches for the most part. as long as its tactile im generally fine. Ive used too many keyboards that feel like mushy shit that actively harm my typing ability. I do think that things that you use for extended periods of time every day you should be willing to spend money on to get something nice. well made tools make you want to use and appreciate them.

>60% keyboards also have good spacing but remove the function keys

just give me a keyboard with the alphanumeric section and function keys. that's all i need.
