Why use WMs when you have GNOME?

The real question is why use DEs when you have dwm?

Holy fucking shit it gets uglier every time I look. Tell me, is there a psyop to make GNOME look like hte ugliest piece of shit in existence in screenshots posted on the internet or is this how it really looks?
>>
>>108767391
Why do they make it as round, flat, and cartoony as possible? I feel like I'm looking at something made for toddlers to use. All the colors look bland and inoffensive.
>>
>>108768132
what offensive color would you prefer?

GNOME 2015-2018 was peak visual design.

For one thing I don't want whatever is going on in that screenshot. When I switch workspaces in my WM there is no animation or other bullshit. It just instantly switches.
>>
>>108769139
Isn’t that what you get if you double tap the ‘super’ key?
>>
>>108767391
Because GNOME doesn't implement a scrolling tiler like DMS/Niri.
>t. GNOME enjoyer

>>108767449
Why use dwm instead of i3?
>>
>>108767391
I don't need or want a DE and even if I did GNOME would be the last one I'd choose.
>>
>>108768166
I cant think of any
>>
>>108769279
You can do that in GNOME. In the overview you can just scroll across workspaces.

Even as someone who hates GNOME's workflow meme, it's clear that the developers have done a better job than anyone.
Everyone else just leeches off GNOME. Even Qt has a hard dependency on glib.
>>
>>108771737
It looks like a touchpad ui designed with toddlers in mind.
>>
>>108767391
screenshot looks like on os made for children.
maybe gnome devs are trying to lure them.

Never go full retard, OP. Oh, you did. Too late.

I will perform for you the kindly service of rewriting your question for correctness and correspondence to truth:

Why on Earth would anyone with more than two brain cells use GNOME when there are several excellent working window managers out there?
>>
>>108772565
Unlike a tinkering WM designed with trannies in mind?

My good fellow, please describe every step in the process of setting super+1-9 to switch to workspace 1-9 and another set of shortcuts to move windows to workspaces 1-9 in GNOME. When I install Sway these are all preset with zero tinkering out of the box so I hope GNOME, a DE built around workspaces, also requires zero tinkering to achieve these basic keybinds for window and workspace management.

Because I like Hyprland more..
>>
>>108775656
There is more to using your computer than setting workspaces my tranime sister. I configed i3 and dwm before, realized it was a waste of time as I already had a functional DE with GNOME.
>>
>>108767391
GNOME with gTile is unironically godlike.
>>
>>108775423
GNOME is keyboard-centric and unusable without multiple extensions that break on every major update. It is more of a "tinkertranny" desktop than anything else.
>>
>>108775927
Are you retarded? Use the hot corner and scroll through the workspaces, or use the touchpad on a laptop. I rely more on my mouse for navigation.
>>
>>108767391
I wonder. Do you derive enjoyment from this?

There's a colossal waste of food and air sustaining
>you
and I can't help but think of think about why. Aren't you tired or bored? Maybe you're disabled and this is your only outlet from your hospital bed.

>>
>>108775663
No productive work was ever done on your computer. On my Fedora KDE I get stuff done.
>>
>>108767391
I hate Gnome. Half of my applications use white theme without any fucking reason. Still not know why, because I did everything, literally +50 "solutions" and Gnome is still broken.
>>
>>108777707
flatpaks probably
Flatpaks are the plague for the Linux Desktop

I literally cannot fathom interfaces like these.

(I use Trinity btw)
>>
>>108777747
I also hate flatpaks, but I don't use them. Something about libadwaita is broken or it is a "feature".
