So, will this finally push people to make an open-source, cross-platform, SDL3 controller mapping software that's actually maintained and doesn't suck ass? antimicroX has been dead for some time and it was really awful to use to begin with.

There's basically zero reason to get one, be it on Windows or Linux, if you can't map the everloving shit out of it without being tied to the Steam client to use it. This is a bipartisan issue, you either have an independent offline way of mapping everything on this controller or it's not worth your time.

Valve lost their minds by making Steam Input exclusive to their client that requires an online log-in. Literal online DRM for a $99 controller.f

Pushed by who? The only people dumb enough to buy this overpriced piece of shit are guaranteed not to be tech literate.

The problem is that gaymers are retarded manchildren who are essentially functional drug addicts who will do basically anything to get their dopamine fix. Until you address the gaymer issue then nothing will make sense.

Steamies are like Apple cultists.

Meanwhile normal human beings: Wow I cant wait to use my steam controller it looks very comfortable so I can play games for a long time

So don't buy a Steam controller. What was the point of this thread?

Why can't you? It shows up as HID mice and keyboards.
>>
Linux has had xorg-input-joystick for decades. You just can't use it because you fell for the Wayland meme.

Windows has Xbox. This is a non-issue.

>Full administrative control over your device and they gave you the files, so you can do whatever you want, you can mod, make copies, etc. A lot of DRM can just be circumvented trivially and some games, even on Steam, have no DRM at all.
vs.
>No administrative control over your device, you can't do shit. You bought a license, so next time you log in they can just brick your games, your account or your device if they think you broke terms of service.

Oh wow lol my bitching brought it back from the dead it seems. Let's hope the development will pick up and it'll move to SDL3 since that's what the new Steam Controller uses.

You can do this in literally 5 fucking minutes just by telling Claude to. Why the fuck does /g/ still think you need to wait for people to do anything?
>>
>>108769277

You're the loud minority. Truth is, most people who actually want to buy one will keep running steam and move on with their lives.

https://github.com/C0rn3j/sc-controller already supports the steam deck so it probably should support everything except the grips already.
