Old operating systems looked colorful, futuristic, were well detailed, intuitive, had cool animations and decorations yet required very little system resources, even slow hard drives could handle them well. Modern operating systems look colorless, tasteless, have no style (so-called minimalism with no depth), just blank boxes with colorless letters, squares and circles as if it's some unfinished work and yet require so much power to operate (even sata ssd is not fast enough, nvme is starting to barely handle the process) and not to mention many missing features from the past. I'm not sure if it's incompetence or malicious intent.

>>108770782old operating systems had to render 480×320 pixels. new operating sytems have to render 3840×2160 pixels or more. for a single monitor. That's more than 50× as many pixels.

>>108770782>as if it's some unfinished workThat's...exactly what it is.>>108771559You can do 1080p in windows 95 pretty easily, though the lack of dpi scaling is a consequence you don't really get a performance hit unless your hardware is era appropiate of course, but that's not a fair comparison for pure software efficiency is it.
