Stop the ubuntu hateIt's the only distro that works out of the box, where you dont have to do hours of tranny tinkering and where fonts don't look blurry as shit
Their twitter got hacked a few hours ago
>>108771325>he thinks this is a hack
>>108771312>It's the only distro that works out of the boxthat's fedora, ubuntu works until the first update
>>108771347FEDora doesn't even have working video playback out of the box
>>108771349That depends on what you selected during installation.
>>108771312Audio didn't work for me even after tinkering.Meanwhile I got Arch working great on 6+ systems.
>>108771363Even when the user enables proprietary repos on the welcome screen, you still need to manually add RPMFusion free/nonfree repos then follow the RPMFusion Multimedia guide. Otherwise you are left with the default neutered system.
>>108771312Universal Blue distros, aka Fedora with media codecs.>>108771347This. Ubuntu and Arch are the only distributions which manage to fuck something up when I update them or refuse to update or install something because the package manager has gone to shit. I've literally never had these issues with Fedora.
>>108771312Enjoy getting sefault by their shitty rust rewroots of baseline utils (that got deployed on a lts release btw) and getting your anus probed for when they release their ageID service systemwide i guess. At this point if you're willing to accept any of that stay on windows, less headaches to deal with.
>>108771374When was the last time you installed Fedora?
>>108771691Literally Fedora 44 (KDE and Workstation) this week.
>>108771691Not the same anon, but I moved from Ubuntu to Fedora KDE 44, couldn’t be happier. I was already using Konsole on dwm but wanted a clean modern desktop so I went back to KDE.
>>108771312You meant Linux Mint? Or LMDE I should say Cuz fuck that Ubuntu bloatware.
>>108771312>built-in ads>preinstalled bloat>hijacks commands to coerce users into using Canonical bloatThere are options available with a better out-of-the-box experience, better reliability, and less anti-user. Unless you're working for organisation with an Ubuntu Pro subscription, there's zero reason to use Ubuntu.
>>108771312fonts still look blurry as shit on ubuntu. Took me like 3 days to fix it
>>108771312Let me ask you here: How can I view and adjust the sound card settings like I can in Windows? You know how in Windows, you go to the sound settings and have all the data there? 24-bit, 48 kHz. I can't find that option in any Linux distribution. I don't know what it's using; it always sounds worse than Windows.
>>108772642cat /etc/pipewire/pipewire.conf
>>108772632>Took me like 3 days to fix itHow to fix blurry fonts?
>>108772657I dont remember i did it like at least 18 months ago now. I remember having to google articles about firefox font settings and change dozens of settings before I got it looking good same with the default ubuntu fonts, it was a fucking nightmare I would just install another distro honestly. there's no plain guide for it you have to just fund a list of all font related settings and then trial and error it
>>108772632What version? Fonts on 25.10 and 26.04 looked great for me.
>>108772657going back to windows
>>108772685I think it was 24 lts
sometimes I think of doing the ubuntu challenge, trying to use it for a week then I remember how shit snaps are
>blurry fontsGet an UHD screen already.
>>108771312>It's the only distro that works out of the boxNot anymore, plenty of other Debian/Fedora/Arch forks already achieved that. That said, even with all of Canonical's bullshit, Ubuntu holds its place as a top distro for new and general usage. And with the newest LTS 26.04 they made it a really smooth and cohesive experience, something most distros can't do.At the end of the day, I'm ok with Ubuntu being the set standard other distros should accomodate to (I said Ubuntu, not Canonical). That's what Linux lacks a generalized standard every user and dev can steer to.
Mint is also good.
>>108772711Nah windows looks worse. MacOS, on the other hand, has great font rendering
>>108771312coincidentially I just went back to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS after distro hopping for like a year. I tried almost every single fucking distribution under the sun. And in the end I learned and realized Ubuntu is the most sane distro of them all. Every other distro has fucking quirks because of pure autism. Even if canonical does some weird shit in the eyes of turbo-autist, no one can deny Ubuntu just fucking works.Mint is a close second but it got really old now. Maybe by next year when they rebase to 26.04 it'll be worth a look.TL;DR Ubuntu is the only distro made for sane people.
>>108771312>Only distro that works out of the box>Doesn't even set up a root account by defaultThen again, you can't expect much from retard's first distro, it's just sad you're still stuck on it though.
>>108771312And that's the issue. Loonix isn't supposed to work. I need problems. I need just running the OS to be a full time job and for it to be incompatible with any software I might want to run.And then those sons of bitches fixed wine, added ntsync into the kernel, valve made games run better than on Windows with proton and everyone just offers .debs that just work on Ubuntu.I fucking hate it.
>>108771312Ubuntu is trash. It's not even linux at this point.
>>108773653Mint *is* Ubuntu.>>108772832You aren't forced to use Snaps, Mint is a proof of that.
I use it because, as gay as linux is, linux mint is even gayer and kali linux it to technical for me, and I use tails occasionally.
>>108776192How so? It very much runs on the Linux kernel. Just because it has snaps and rust utils doesn't make it "its own thing".Ubuntu is fine, it's just bloated but that's the price or having robustness.
>>108776192In the real world Ubuntu, RHEL and Android ARE Linux.
>>108771349This >>108771363Wrong
>>108772655Thanks bro
>>108771312I like Ubuntu just fine, but most of the distros i've tried have just worked out of the box aside from a few admittedly pretty obscure peripherals, maybe you just suck
>>108771312Ubuntu is bniggers
