Privacy messengers should've ended here. There's no reason for 40 other ones to be made after this. A new private message app drops every year when it does the same thing another app does that works. No one cares about some nerd technology that makes it slightly different to other ones except for autists that don't actually message anyone. People want 3 things from private message apps:

>is it encryted
>is it secure
>is it easy to use

If an app does those things, there's no reason to make another one
>>
why do I need to register by phone number
>>

If you don't want to use your real number, just buy another one with a VOIP service

It's not even on fdroid?
I'll pass

Retard-kun.

>privacy should've ended with a messenger that doesn't offer privacy
the only messaging app that even has an architecture that could theoretically offer decent privacy is Session
>>
>>108772104
Didn't they just shut down?
>>
>>108772161
Soon, unless you donate
>>
So when is someone going to make an app like signal that also accepts SMS?
>>
>>108772230
>continuation of project relies on an enormous donation goal
devs overextended.

Didn't Telegram do the exact same thing first?

No

signal is a *private* messenger. it is not an *anonymous* messenger. the two use cases are often conflated, but they are in fact very different. personally, i am more concerned about privacy, and i am willing to give up some level of anonymity in exchange for better spam protections. you are completely within your rights to feel differently, but for its given us case, signal works perfectly

It's personally identifiable information.

if your messaging bloatware:
>doesn't have a webapp
>doesn't let unregistered users contact registered users as (Guests) through the webapp
>doesn't allow registration by email only (no phone number)
then into the fucking trash your bloatware goes. i will continue to use irc
>>
>>108771988
It's a dogshit app. Yeah, it's secure but it's barebones and shitty.
>>
>>108772454
yeah not even the NSA bothers to spy on briar's 0 users

Extremely low IQ thing to say. You couldn't ban or block abuse.

Signal is a honeypot. You're very dumb if you think the CIA/FBI can't read/archive/search your messages at will. If they aren't using your data against you, it isn't because they don't have it. It is because you are irrelevant to them.
>>
>>108773370
Yeah, that is why the feds had to rely on the vulnerability of Apple iOS to to catch someone they were looking for. They could've found him any time they wanted, but they wanted to catch him this harder way for fun.

A billion of discord-like matrix client is better than this shit

Its for real humans who know each other in real life. Signal's use case isn't talking to randos
>>
Signal is the best, we normal people have. And most people don't even have a reason to use it. If you do just use coded language.
>>
>>108776057

You can share contact / add now without exposing your phone no.

DO NOT start talking about this shit unless you enjoy glownigger harassment. I'm being so dead ass rn that being said if you are up for the challenge you want something that looks like highlights in multiple colors based on word
>>

I get glownigger harassment anyway. I imagine most people who aren't taking autistic measures to post on 4chan are kinda watched.

What is it with Americans that makes them think popularity adds to their credibility when they "expose" the government.
>>
My mom and I use Signal. I have no one else to communicate with.
>>
What’s the point in even bothering with something like this? We will never have full privacy. Only useful reason to have this is if you’re cheating…ahh…that’s why new ones are needed. People eventually catch on, so something new needs to roll out.
>>
Perfect for your everyday pathetic cheater who probably has E.D. Eventually people catch on, so something new needs to roll out.
>>
>>108776880
>>108776904
indeed a large fraction of /g/ is concerned about getting caught having promiscuous sex by their regular sex partner
>>
>>108771988
American servers. No overlay network or any traffic obfuscation at all.

Working as intended, Signal glows.
>>
>>108772273
Why?
SMS isn't secure. Just encrypt it the old-fashioned way.
>>
>>108776904
>>108776880
I buy drugs, fuck off.
Cheaters can just use anything else. Anyone below the level of a paid hacker doesn't even get into Whatsapp without a warrant.
Privacy people are either into it out of the principle of the thing or we buy drugs.
I guess there's chomos but that's vanishingly few compared to the other two groups.
>>
>>108772016
You should never use a temporary phonenumber, since registration locks are temporary. The associated phonenumber defacto owns the account.
