I did my first HR job interview on tuesday and got rejected today. I sent the CV on sunday and they contacted me immediately, so I don't think I was a bad candidate, but I didn't know what I was doing and I think I spilled too much spaghetti. How do you cope with the cringe

Cloudflare beat market expectation
Layoff 1100 employees
Signal AI use is up 600%
Market unsatisfied
Stock drops 15%

The largest tech companies in the world will eventually be run by 1 guy whose only job is to tell stock holders that AI use is up

tb h the cloudflare engineers on xitter are very all in on it
at some point you're going to have to come to terms with the fact that the slopmachines are productivity maximizers in some domains and you just don't need as many people to get the same amount of work done
this isn't just post-zirp macroeconomics at play any more
>>
>>108777970
yes, it is because of AI.
covid overhiring layoffs were in 2022-2024, now from late 2025 it's all about AI.

we are fucked up.

How exactly? I've used Opus 4.7 and it has failed in every way possible, and I'm not even a professional developer. I just need scripts from time to time. What kind of models are they using? Was their jobs to write bunch of "Hello Worlds"? How exactly do you lose your job to a glorified chatbot?

sounds like a skill issue on your part t bh.
if you can't tard-wrangle the models into producing useful work for you now, you probably should be fired. i'm not even trolling.

It's really bizarre that the white collar job market has become a walled garden of unskilled do-nothings who spend more time pretending to work than actually contributing to society. A disproportionate amount of their time is spent ensuring the walls stay up, to the point where applying to these companies or jobs in any capacity is about as effective as hurling a watermelon seed into a gaping chasm, hoping it will sprout a tree. Companies are IV fed through complex financial machinations that 99.99% of people will never comprehend (by design) and as a result the companies are also dedicated to merely putting up the facade of growth and productivity vs. anything genuine, as the facade is what enables more money to be siphoned into them by investment firms who have a direct line to the money printers. Then, on top of all this, as though it wasn't already absurd that ordinary people are priced out of basic livelihoods because corporatist entities are constantly cost-cutting and salvaging, performing every trick in the book (from H-1B abuse to lying as hard as the law will let them get away with), with a small new caste of c-suites staving off the starving masses with a litany of frustrating tricks, the current presidential administration regularly gets up in front of everyone and says in so many words "The job market is doing great. A white engineer born in this country was laid off, but an Indian man we frauded his way into the country took his job, and now that engineer is working two gig jobs and is starving anyway. We turned three jobs into one. I'm fucking amazing. Let's help Israel bomb more people to celebrate."
>>
>>108779871
Unfortunately, this is true.
Another truth is that humans would be more cost-effective if Anthropic had to charge enough to cover costs (much less become profitable)

Do you guys even want a tech job? How long until AI can write all the other AIs anyway, I only used AI for like 100% of this but I had to like keep copying and pasting different stuff or something I don't remember. Fuckers made me install conda for python 10 and add it to my PATH variables (didn't fucking work). Anyhoo number go up. Or down.

>>108781252
absolutely bumfuck retarded take. R is used by out of touch academics and has an absolutely horrible package ecosystem where everything runs on 50 layers of jank and indirection.

python is a normal programming language. yeah on its own it's kinda slow but if you actually use the high-level language features and vectorized libraries like numpy it's perfectly functional.
>>108778476
>dependencies
you're doing it wrong. use a couple well maintained core packages with stable APIs (like numpy) and write your own fucking code, it doesn't take long. the language is piss easy to use and very concise.

Is the american job market really in such a bad state like all those plebbit or youtube doomer slop videos make it out to be?
>>
>>108782350
No. The median wage is around 330k. If you can't make that much, you probably don't have an IQ above 100 either.

>unemployed 11 months

>>
>>108782350
As a european who hasn't had a real job since last summer despite applying hundreds of times (yes I know I should have applied a thousand times by now, I'm lazy), I think americans do complain a lot. I think it's because americans have few jobs but they're higher paid. In america companies don't lower the wage and then hire more people. Instead they increase the wage and higher less.
>>
saying you work independently seems to no longer work as an excuse in 2026 to cover a gap

How is it a skill issue? Since when is writing sentences a skill?

If I have to go into details of every single thing I want that piece of code to do I can write it myself.

Where exactly is the benefit?
