OpenBSD is easy to install (easier than Arch before the installer). It's not that hard to configure either. I just set-up a transparent firewall with very little effort.

Why would anyone familiar with basic scripting bother with pfSense or OPNsense? Maybe some dual-WAN/traffic shaping configurations get complicated, but it seems like a minor step-up in complexity.

openbsd isn't complicated but people don't want to spend hours reading docs instead of just using a point and click web UI

Why would I do this for a firewall? The installer can use the entire disk and separates stuff like /var automagically, so obviously stuff like logs won't brick the system.

if one of the installation phases fail, you can't install, and it often fails depending on hardware
