>Attackers modified the alternative download page and replaced the Windows .exe installers as well as the Linux shell installer.DO NOT DOWNLOAD WINDOWS .EXE INSTALLERS AND LINUX SHELL INSTALLER FROM JDOWNLOADER.ORG
The official JDownloader website has been down for a while
>>108777491People still use Jdownloader? I switched to FDM a long time ago. It handles both my downloads and torrents. Don't even need an account
I have an installer that I saved 3 years ago
> JDownloader is a free, open-source download management tool with a huge community that makes downloading as easy and fast as it should be.Literal jeetware. Whats the use case for this? Retards.
>>108777491Usecase for this over just using your Web Browser / Torrent Client?
>>108777491oh damn this would surely be shocking if it was 2010, when it was still relevant. Same with the daemon tools hack
>last autoupdate it a few days ago>this seems like a fresh issuePhew, dodged a bullet here.
>>108777491>using this shitwhy?
>>108778896chrome typically starts slowing down if you download large filessome sites upload slower if you only use chrome, mega halts the download 90% of the time some sites limit download sizes on chrome but not on jdjd2 always works, you can use it for youtube and other whitelisted sites
>>108778929what the fuck are you talking about? Chrome handles ranges as much as anything else.
>>108778929bullshit
>>108778647downloading multiple files in a row from a url list instead of clicking in each of them individually to download
>>108777491>>108777496> proprietaryDeserved
>>108778896maybe they are too retarded to use torrents
It's useful to download all tracks at once on khinsider without paying
>>108777586Does it crawl websites for download links like Jdownloader or is it just another piece of trash that expects you to copypaste every single little link in order to be able to download?I tried like 10 different download managers for Linnux, but all of them were the latter. Basically useless. Jdownloader seems to be the only actual download MANAGER that MANAGES your downloads for you.>>108778882Same.
>>108779830>Does it crawl websites for download links like JdownloaderIt does iirc. It downloads torrents too. So I don't need three different software to download stuff
>>108779863That's cool. Will try it out. Thanks.
>>108777586>Free Download Manager is proprietary software, but was free and open-source software between versions 2.5 and 3.9.7. Starting with version 3.0.852 (15 April 2010), the source code was made available in the project's Subversion repository instead of being included with the binary package. This continued until version 3.9.7. The source code for version 5.0 and newer is not available and the GNU General Public License agreement has been removed from the app.>The ability to download YouTube videos was included in the program's functionality until October 16, 2021, when one of the developers, Alex, indicated that Google had filed a complaint report, requesting the option be disabled. Attempts to download any videos from YouTube currently result in the message, "Youtube downloads are not available" being shown in the download box. A resolution with Google's legal team still has yet to be reached.>It was found that the website freedownloadmanager.org was spreading Linux malware for over three years until 2022. Researchers discovered that the site was intermittently redirecting users to domains that served a malicious version of the Free Download Manager software. This malware included a script that installed a backdoor on Linux devices to steal passwords, browsing history, cryptocurrency wallet files, and cloud service credentials. The infection was uncovered in September 2023 though it had been active since 2020. It is believed to have been a supply chain attack impacting the legitimate Free Download Manager project. The malware went undetected for years due to the stealthy nature of Linux threats compared to Windows. The administrators of the site responded to notifications about the campaign. This is even worse than JDownloader.
It seems it was just their website. So if you already have it installed and just auto update, then you are fine.https://www.reddit.com/r/jdownloader/comments/1t6goqe/is_the_website_hacked/
>>108780357What do you use/recommend then, schizobro?
>>108780570Dunno. I entered the thread because I use JDownloader.
>>108780570IDM + a trial freezing script is the GOAT. And believe me I've looked into free download managers of all kinds. If there is one that comes close, it's well hidden.
>>108780570I just wanted a program to mass download images and YouTube videos. There are cli tools for that. I think media downloader is a flatpak on Linux that download these cli tools and should work like jdownloader with a gui. I never tried it before because jdownloader just fucking worked but at least this one has a GitHub page.

As of May 2026, there is a major security incident involving JDownloader. Hackers successfully compromised the official JDownloader website to distribute malware through legitimate-looking installers. On May 6, 2026, attackers exploited an unpatched vulnerability on the JDownloader site to gain access to the download links. They replaced the official Windows and Linux installers with malicious versions. The JDownloader development team confirmed the hack after users on Reddit noticed that new downloads were being flagged by Windows SmartScreen and showed a suspicious publisher named "Zipline LLC" (instead of the legitimate "AppWork").If you downloaded or installed JDownloader between May 6 and May 8, 2026, your system is likely infected with a sophisticated Python-based Remote Access Trojan (RAT).Users have reported that the malware attempts to disable Windows Defender and other security software to hide its presence. If you already had JDownloader installed before May 6, you are generally safe. The developers stated that the auto-update system was not compromised because updates are protected by end-to-end digital signatures. If you think you installed a compromised version: Disconnect from the Internet To prevent the RAT from communicating with the attackers' command-and-control server.Scan with Multiple Tools: Use a trusted secondary scanner like the Malwarebytes AdwCleaner or ESET Online Scanner, as the malware may have tampered with your primary antivirus.Check Digital Signatures: Right-click your installer file, go to Properties > Digital Signatures. If the signer is anything other than AppWork GmbH, delete it immediately and do not run it.Avoid downloading new files from the JDownloader site until the team confirms the vulnerability is patched and all links are restored. The JDownloader team has taken the website down several times recently for investigation and cleanup. Check their official Reddit community for the most current status updates.
Jdownloader.org is back again baby

>>108778639>Whats the use case for this?It allows you to download audio and videos from websites which don't give you the option to. Would rather use this than some random "converter" website
Holy shit you dumb niggers. Just use wget, curl, or awgg (basically a UI for the former + aria). If you desperately need link extraction, there are countless browser extensions and scriptlets that can do it for you.
>>108777491Looks like I dodged a bullet.Stopped using that piece of shit when every website started using Cloudflare captchas and broke over half of the plugins.
>>108778639To download Youtube and Porno videos and watch it offline, you fucking sycho.
>>108784828yt-dlp?Do normgroids really?
>>108784949What do you use now?
>>108777491The interface is a barrage of java-looking shit but nothing does as much and as well as this thing. Will this also affect automatic updates? It loves to try that on every start.
>>108777491I uninstalled it a few years ago after hearing about the safety concerns, I just use megasync and zippyshare died anyway
Using jdownloader with rars split into a dozen megauploads in 2010 was comfyWhat's the usecase now?
>>108777491Bros? Is the Flatpak fine? Is the winget fine?
>>108785139See>>108784980 Like have the plugins are porn related. Also sadly you still have people uploading through direct download.
>>108785149Forgot to add>and refuse to use torrents
>>108785149We do have YT-Dlp nowadays
What's a better app to download videos off of pornhub, xhamster etc.? Nothing comes close
>>108785164I always had problems with yt-dlp, but never with jdownloader. NEVER. I feel like you have to always wait for a patch on ytdlp, just for it to work for 1 week... and then you have to wait another week for a new patch........
>>108777491I still use it sometimes, but it's so jank and feels like malware.
>>108785164>nowadaysYes but Jdownloader is older and I respect my elders. Joking aside, Jdownloader has to be as old as this site now that I think about it.
>>108785181Yeah Yt-Dlp is a bit more demanding, but if you use a VM, and know how to compile Pip, Deno, you'd be good.I even written my own batch file to make the process much faster without having to remember the code each time. I only have to copy and pate the link.
>>108785164>>108785195Those are based on yt-dlp with rolling updates. Available as Flatpak.
>>108785026I just went back to doing it manually.Using FoxyProxy to open links and set different proxies for each tab works well enough for me.

>>108786106>Jdownloader always auto updates>Get another virus but this time with these auto updates>I can't see their source codeI can't deal with this anymore
>>108786199but you didnt get a virus from their auto updatethats an imaginary fantasy you created that only exist inside your head
>>108786166always has been. in 2009-2010 when bitcoin came out and you could mine 50 a day or buy 250 coins for $1 people who understood technology thought this board would also understand technology they came here trying to talk about it and instead everyone called it fake, stupid, malware, botnet, etc.
>>108786214maybe not this time, but if they're not patching their website and allowing it to be compromised then they'll also not be patching their cicd and that'll also be compromised at some point and the malware will be signed and then autoupdate will also be compromised. autoupdate did download the malware this time, it just didn't execute it after it was downloaded. if someone thought huh that's weird and manually ran it, they'd be compromised.
>>108786214>It won't happen and didn't happenLike it didn't happen with notepad++ right? Also the problem with source code. I can't even see what it's being downloaded to compare. If I wanted my programs to auto update I would use windows.
