for me it's es file explorer pro with internet access disabled

MiXplorer

MiXplorer with root. I'm not sure if it's better than the others, I used to rely on TotalCommander before that. It shouldn't matter what app you use as long as it's not trash that requires internet access without your consent

Solid Explorer is the best along with Cx File Explorer. I'd suggest just using copyparty at this point but for full feature solid explorer is the best.
>>
>>108777567
i only use it to unzip albums in my music folder so google files does the job
maybe i should find a non google version though? does it matter? since the entire OS on my phone is made by google anyway

Material Files.

This, Root Explorer, File Explorer+ and FX File Explorer. Everything is so-so.

Honourable mentions go to X-plore File Manager, Total Commander and Amaze File Manager.

it just works

Fossify File Manager
>>
The one that came with the OS because it confuses me to have 2
I used to have file kommander
>>
>>108777567
a very old version of that one, it has even ftp
>>
>>108777567
Depends on what I'm doing. On my phone, I go between Fossify File Manager and Material Files, depending on what my use case is. On my TV, I use FX

The AOSP one

does other file managers have samba support? i've used x-plore before but nowadays it has disgustingly aggressive ads.
>>

Last time I used samba on an Android file manager was back when I was still using ES File Explorer back when it was still on Google Play like a pleb, I used it to access my home security cam footage.

That's a tough one as I haven't seen one that does everything I want. I mostly access files on a remote server and this is where things fall apart.
>MiX
Clunky interface, has issues with viewing large pictures and thumbnails on remote server.
>Solid explorer
Same issues with remote files. That said the interface was nice, used it for years until they broke sftp then I switched to MiX
>X-plore
No issues with remote files but the UI is too schizo for me.
>Material files
Nice UI, bit light on features. Can view large pictures on a server fine but has other issues and dev has stated support for fileservers is just an afterthought.
>Owlfiles
Tried this because it actually worked really well on my iphone. Somehow has the EXACT same issue on android as the other apps.

Also the implementation quality of protocols on these apps can really vary, with some being especially bad (Solid could only do like 2MB/s over sftp). WebDAV seems to be the fastest while still providing security.

file manager 1.17.3.76 by Cheetah Mobile . so far i haven't found the perfect replacement..

>ES File Explorer
>Cheetah Mobile
God, this brings me back to when I didn't know any better and would just download the first app that came up in the search when I was looking for something like a file explorer or QR code scanner and it would almost always be some bloated chink adware.

SolidExplorer
>>
>>108777567
I've used CX explorer for a long time and it's perfect for me - it's like ES used to be but better
>>
>>108777567
MiXplorer, much better if rooted but can work without it.
>>
I don't get it. It seems file manager plus and cx file explorer are the same app by the same company? Why? It even has the same features.
