For me this behavior (creating unwanted, unneeded features nobody ever asked for) of developer boredom. Logout button has always worked for everyone, nobody asked for logout to be removed. But hey somewhere, sometime, some real clever developer with clearly too much time on his hands, thought of a use case for hiding the logout button..Forget about finding a use case for keeping the logout button, give us a fucking use case for hiding it.. and no, having only one user is clearly not a good enough reason.tl;dr if it ain't broke don't fix it.. in fact keep far away from it

Windows did the same thing but with shutting down. Shutting down and then pressing the power button is not the same thing as rebooting (does not re-apply settings etc). One of the MANY reasons I stopped using that shit.
