North Korea has a Linux based operating system called RedStarOS.What are your thoughts on it?Could it theoretically be possible that North Korea may have the 'best' Linux devs on Earth due to state backing? Lots of modifications would have to be made even if a good load of RedStarOS is copied Linux tech.

It's the best Linux distro because they seem to understand platform targets and design.Also both ironically and unfortunately the best design for Unix and Unix-like systems is to copy MacOS.

They managed to develop a direct alternative to macOS, something linux bros seem to have a lot of issues with. A working global menu (not the dogshit Plasma uses that isn't compatible with half the programs), a file manager that strongly resembles Finder and seems to behave the same way. Padding seems neat. It seems to be heavily modeled after Mavericks or older, but that was peak OSX design. Really it's a shame. elementaryOS can only get 1 thing right (column view), GNOME seems to be grabbing bits and pieces and they act like they don't, like teenage girls, like I mentioned Plasma got the global menu, but no one's committing to actually try to make a macOS replacement.

I like to think Red Star OS is botnet-free because the DPRK is already such an oppressive surveillance state that baking it into computer software is superfluous.

The custom Huawei phones bought from China have North Korea's own Android version that doesn't ping anywhere ever. Those don't show in any public statistics ever. There is probably 100k or multiple millions of those Android phones there.Also RedStarOS posted here is the old version and the latest one isn't leaked yet.
