>tilt window>receive mold
noob
Well, any window you open could give you mold if you're a faggot.
>>108778880everybody in germany has them, me included and I never had mold nor the people I know.
They only work in central Europe which has a mild climate with low humidity summers. They make no sense in most places in the US where a third of the year it's too cold and another third of the year it's too humid to have windows open.
>>108778898In Germoney you can spot tilters easily by their dark spots over their windows. It's basically the mark of the lazy presented to everyone to see.
>>108778902
>>108778920well but anything else in berlin is uncomfortable so it evens out
>>108778902>They make no sense in most places in the US where a third of the year it's too cold and another third of the year it's too humid to have windows openThese windows are very popular in Russia too, not only in central Europe with goold climate.
>>108778919never had this, nor the people I know. what you see there looks like it has burned there.
>>108778941Goa'uld climate?
>>108778949Nope, it's algae and mold. You can look that up if you like.
>>108778941most of russia has dry summers. most dachas don't have air conditioning either.
>>108778919>>receive moldnever seen this ever, seeing this for first time.. is there swimming pool in the appartment or what the fuck??
>>108778962I don't need to look it up, I can just go outside and look at other windows and see nothing.
>>108778962>>108778919I wonder why we don't see this in Australia more.We don't have the speccy folding windows, just sliding ones, but you'd expect in Victoria there would be evidence of it, it's moist most of the year but people leave windows open to vent, so warm air gets out with moist area.Doesn't seem to happen much though. Is Germany just very moldy by default?
>>108778962never seen this before, this is rare
>>108778920>humidity.pngI can't read this chart properly."The percentage of time spent at various humidity comfort levels categorized by dew point"So in July if you spend 30% of time at a 45% dew point you will be "muggy"?? What the fuck does that even mean
>>108778984>I wonder why we don't see this in Australia more. The shit grows on the walls due to warm air constantly and steadily escaping the apartment through the tilted window. It's not growing in the hot summer, it's growing in winter because outdoors on the side of the wall it's humid as fuck and the warm air from the window is creating the perfect spot for shit to grow on the facade.
jesus and vishnu zutted mohammed and magic mold appeared
>>108778997No. It means here in Berlin, in the hottest most humid part of the year (Aug 6th) it will be muggy 3% of the time, and the rest of the time it will be comfortably humid, or dry.The comfort ratings (dry, comfortable, muggy, oppressive, miserable) are calculated based on dew point, i.e. absolute humidity, the amount of moisture in the air, which is calculated considering the temperature and relative humidity.
tilt the window lower the condensationreceive no mould
Looking into it, the mold is a uniquely german problem and Berlin is well known for 'schimmel'Why would you live in a moldy swamp for a city?
>>108778919tf?i've never seen this shit
>>108778919>>108778962I've never in my life seen this, I cannot tell if you're AI deluding me or wtf is happening
Americans don't even understand how these work.
>>108779095Because they are incompatible with window AC.
>>108778984>>>Is Germany just very moldy by default?Germans are completely autistic about keeping windows open 24/7 that luften shit That shit is from years of literally never closing their windows nonstop
>>108779080Mold can be beneficial, for example it can absorb radiation.
>>108779106so wanting fresh air is being autistic now?i never close my windows and have never seen this shit, nobody in my neighborhood has this shit and i live in the same area for 20 years.
>>108779105Because they have more than one way of opening.Including a superposition where you twist the handle up, tilt it just enough (depends on window model), then turn it 45 degrees to lock it in place, leaving only a small opening instead of a full tilt.
>>108779105>Because they are incompatible with window AC.Yeah, it's a pain.
>>108778919>>108778962ive seen this a few times. i just assumed it was a fire or some very heavy cooking. its always the kitchen window.
>>108779080Germans are swamp people
>>108779144>its always the kitchen window.it's usually always the windows people can't be arsed with taking care of apparently. kitchen window, bathroom window. just keeping it tilted 24/7 instead of airing shit out 4x a day properly.
>>108779144>its always the kitchen window.window always openwarm air gets out condensation builds up outside window mold develops on wall
>>108779095hearty kek
>>108779163You can't explain that.
>>108779176In fact, these windows were developed SPECIFICALLY to induce such moments.
>>108779163why do my walls have no mold then?
>>108779105we're too poor to afford AC in europe, so not an issue here
>>108779205But rich enough to afford central heating?Oh wait, it's that most of the time we need to heat our houses, not cool them, so AC isn't as popular as in the US where a good chunk of the country is built on the fucking desert.
>>108779214i mean yes. installing AC is even more nonsensical in the UK where you'd use it for 2 weeks in the summer per year
but open air helps against mold and clear out humidity in the house
>>108779214>most of the time we need to heatThat's not been a thing for quite a while.
>>108779222Thing is once you get used to AC it's hard to go back. I installed minisplits in my home for about 4k to cool the rooms and now I pretty much run it 5-6 months a year in the middle of france.I'm thinking of getting rid of my gas heating as well and switch to a heat pump as well since it's not only 20years old but I'm shitting 3k of gas per year to heat up.
>>108778919>Source: schizophrenia
>>108779143Well yea, having a plastic baggy flapping in the window is indeed shitty. If they opened outwards you could at least stick a giant plastic panel on the inside to seal the window and vent your AC, but these open inward on top of being retarded.
>>108779205>you don't need AC in europe, so not an issue hereftfy. I hate these threads. Construction and homeowner practices in DE =/= those in USA. And in the USA, they vary. Most of DE is more like Seattle than Miami. In the PNW you can open your windows at night in summer and cool off the house. There are attic fans specifically for that use case. In S FL, opening the windows at night would heat *and* humidify the house. When I moved from PNW to S VA I noticed it was 72F outside and 78F in my AC'd apartment at night, so I shut off the AC and opened the windows. The apartment cooled, but got more and more uncomfortable, as the 72F, 100pct humidity outside air came in. Learned my lesson, coming from a dry climate to a wet one.
>>108779289>all the grapes in Europe are sour
>>108778880>receive moldHuh? I've had this kind of windows for 2 decades at least and never got any mold.
Americans are truly a weird species, they don't understand our superior EU window technology and then there's this
ive definitely seen it but its not common at all
>>108778880Warm, stinky, farty, sweaty air rises and having an exit, vent point like that picrel is ideal for smelly situations. If you reverse the window, cold air enters but the stinky air is left lingering at the ceiling. It might get cooled and mixed with fresh air but it doesn't just escape like in picrel.
>>108779353>Warm, stinky, farty, sweaty air rises and having an exitwhere does this stinky air escape in american houses?
>>108779370The molecules attach themselves to surfaces and go through a fading process. UV and the ozone from the fresh air will neutralise most of them over time.

>>108778919You know we have google street view in this year, right?
>>108779143What the heck is that. And why would anyone use that over a normal AC?Looks flimsy as fuck.
>>108779562You do understand how AC works, right?
>>108779597I do. But why would you ruin your window with one, when you can have a normal one like pic related?I know you need to perforate the wall, but it's a much better solution than that wall hack.
>>108778880It's the opposite. Fresh air removes moisture from the house, which prevents mold.
>>108779688Because it's supposed to be a window unit, not split. Why not full split? There are many reasons, I'm sure you can think of some.
>>108779176what can happen is that old and shitty windows are indeed almost falling out when you tilt them i.e. the window simultaneously tilts and opens sideways and only hangs on one point in the frame
>>108779562It's a funny picture of shitty technology. The better solution is the have windows like >>108779694 and sacrifice the TOP panel for a window-AC-unit instead of the side panels. That's how I did it.
>>108779545Yes, and?
>>108779728What's the power draw on those window unit? I had a shitty one like >>108779143 before I installed a full mini-split setup and on the label it said something like 3600w.

>>108780087I'm sorry to hear that.

>>108781865An air conditioner has the compressor and condenser outside i.e. in the ambient air.Your shitty dehumidifier has to pump all the condensed water up and away (extra heat) as well as the own heat from its compressor. im a window specialist for a contractor supplier in the US and i work with almost every window manufacturer in my regionwe dont have these in the US because of egress code making it difficult to get them compliant with egress limitations, especially since they have external screens as opposed to casement and awning windows which have internal screens and egress point hinges for a larger openable areathese tilt turns have a hinge layout that means theyre only an egress opening in their casement orientation and the positioning of the hinges in the casement orientation makes their openable area smaller than a traditional casementyou cant have a twin tilt turn which means some combination style windows are out of the question so people just go twin casement feature wise for that visual designand then the real kicker, americans just like hung windows, and they offer pretty much the same benefits anyway
>>108780614You have terrible reading comprehension. I was comparing old style window units to newer inverter style window units. >>108785130>kitchens have extractor fans, there's no need to keep the window openMine doesn't.And I like to keep at least one window open to get some fresh air.The kitchen window makes the most sense because the kitchen doesn't have to be kept warm.

>>108788527Your best option is to get a BEV.
>>108788286>Don't know any other language that has a word for this autismThere's literally nothing autistic about airing your apartment the correct way. All that "stoßlüften" does is causing the warm, humid and used up air to QUICKLY (like 5 to 10 mins with windows completely open on opposite sides) leave your apartment and get replaced with fresh air from outside. This works the best the higher the temperature delta of inside vs outside since the warm old air moves way quicker and takes humidity with it.The advantage of this is fresh air inside WITHOUT having cooled down your walls and furniture which means the room will get back to temperature real quick with minimal energy loss. If you just keep your windows open a bit (like with that tilting shit) all you do is create a constant light draft that keeps flushing heat energy from your apartment to outside while also causing all the humidity from outdoors to come inside. The air may be relatively good quality constantly (if your walls aren't moldy already) with no effort but you pay for this with basically throwing money out the window through essentially heating BOTH the air inside and outside of your apartment. On top of this there's a big chance of condensation near the window area inside and on the outside so mold may easily grow there as mentioned by others here. It's idiotic when the most BASIC common sense is sold as autism here.

What's the benefit of tilt over just opening up or out? I think with tilt you get less airflow and it makes it easier for water to get in if you're window is open during the rain I would also be paranoid about some mechanism failing and the window falling and breaking.
>>108788420Not most, but they sold enough window units in the 60s and 70s to enshrine the format for 50 years, while 99.99% of yuros had no AC of any description.

i truly do not understand this threadare there places where the temperature is just perfect for mold to grow wherever warm air spills out? how would a tilting window be different than a sliding one for growing mold? are people there just never supposed to open a window?
>>108789457>how would a tilting window be different than a sliding one for growing mold?Technically it's just about warm air constantly coming out of the window creating an area above the window that is perfect for algae and mold to grow so the window technology shouldn't matter too much. HOWEVER I guess it's more common on those tilt windows because if you look closer you'll realize the tilting creates a big gap right at the top so warm humid air can escape there and then snake upwards along the wall. In that area it's the most humid and WARM. Both aspects that aid in that stuff growing there.

>>108781919>This causes a vacuum which ends up sucking ambient/outside airthat's the point - the outside (colder) air enters the room, old air (warmer) rises and gets pushed through vents in the kitchen etc. It's just how air flow works. You let the physics work, you don't need to artificially do dog knows what.
>>108790480They can last 100 years if you take care of them, but really just buy more sticks and mud and plop them down on the same foundation. Shit's cheap. There's no use case for having the exact same walls for 50 years on a residential building.

>>108778880Mold exists period. There are different types of spores all around us at all times. Simply by being a retard, you give it ideal conditions in where it can create growths on walls and such. Its entirely a skill issue.
>>108790865They're not going to take care of them.We also have apartment buildings built out of bricks, which are also not maintained properly. They're massive but fucking old.Commieblock apartments go for a premium now because they're less old, better maintained (more residents),with actually good interior design. Most new apartment buildings are built out of bricks too (modern lightweight soibricks), which is fucking retarded.
