plugins = lock in
>>108783849man you want that supply chain exploit some kind of bad dont you
I tried it once.. I could not open a markdown file without first creating a 'vault' You're a fucking markdown editor,. how can I not even open an md file without this shit?
>>108783849If you are gonna overengineer your notetaking you might as well go all the way
I'll stick w Google docs thanks
>>108783849No, because the data is fundamentally plain-text, so if anything happens to the plugin, you don't lose data. Moreover the syntax used by the plugin is always clear and observable, so anyone could just reimplement the same plugin on obsidian or on any other platform if they wanted to switch or make a program that converts the data from a certain format to another.
>>108783851>man you want that supply chain exploit some kind of bad dont you>tfw addicted to userscripts, plugin and browser addons
>>108785270Drop it into an already created vault and it is part of it.
I hate m*rkdown so much it's unreal
>>108785799Why?

>>108785818No table support (nothing compared to proper tables like MS Word, OneNote, Google Docs, etc), and no support for fucking underlined content (no, I'm not typing out html).

>>108785799.md is a shitty format org mode mogs, being able to store arbitrary key/value pairs under any head is invaluable
>>108785788The point is I don't want a 'vault' I have something called a filesystem, with files and folders. I know it can feel a bit outdated, but it has worked for me this far, so I'll keep on using that way of working.
>>108786327A vault is just a folder full of files. It's a simple abstraction layer that conveniently automates file organization

>>108783849I made a wiki in this a personal knowledge base for LLMs, maintained by agents. First time using this. Which plugins should I install?
>>108786661NTA, but I kind of agree with him. I have no problem using vaults, but I had no idea Obsidian can't open files without them.
>>108783849AI is superior in every way.
>>108786962It depends on your use case a lot. For example, I like to use canvases a lot (acting like pic related makes me feel productive) so I use Advanced Canvas, Canvas Keyboard Pan, Canvas minimap and Simple CanvaSearch. But if your use cases involve notes more (and AI) then there's zero crossover. Just search the core & community plug-in pages, as well as regular search engines and eventually you'll build a stack (or whatever it's called in this case).
>>108786764>this place is a joke, but, why is it like that?>Who benefits?it's just a group chat of dumb racist folks, who have done nothing with their lives. Why does it have to be more than that?
>>108785270Its not a markdown editor its a note taking software that uses markdown, that's why you can't just edit a random file with it. You want something different for that, also I don't think someone has made just a plain markdown editor, it's always something else that uses markdown
>>108787034>I don't think someone has made just a plain markdown editorCurrently using ghostwriter, it does what it says > editing markdown.I'm sure obsidian has it's use case, and fans. I'm just on one of them.. to me the vault feels like a push to use their cloud service and I just wanted an md editor
>>108787283>to me the vault feels like a push to use their cloud serviceYou're not the first to say that, but afaik vaults are entirely local. Maybe you could do cloud backups, but I never did. They are used to conveniently display files and folders in the UI. Beyond that, I don't know.
I'm a plaintext cultist. I believe *all* markup that modifies the text to be bloat and herest. I use plain text files. On Vim I can press gf to open paths like they're links. I can press gx to open them like files with xdg-open. You may need to set autochdir for relative paths to work properly. No use case for Markdown.
>>108787382It makes an .obsidian folder and keeps all configs, themes and plugins in the vault. Its helpful if you have multiple projects with different needs and don't want a bunch of plugins everywhere that you don't use for everything, which I do
>>108789675True. I was a bit skeptical when another anon said that I only need to backup the vault folder, nothing else. But it kept everything intact after I reinstalled my OS. I did manage to get the file corrupted once, by getting a BSOD while editing something in Obsidian. But it's a minor issue and the restore points for individual files helped me out a lot as well. I have them set to 720 days just in case.
im good with joplin the evernote foss clone
>>108786962>I made a wiki in this a personal knowledge base for LLMs, maintained by agents. Can I have your scripts?I went two weeks deep designing something like this until I realized everything was all low-quality. The longer you work on something with these ai's the more it tends to just become more like crap.
