>for years people have been begging the software industry to undo the soulless flatshit epidemic>not a single modern Linux distribution comes with an aero theme preconfigured out of the box>meanwhile Reunion7, a custom Windows distro, doesIt's not like aero themes don't exist on Linux. Why hasn't anyone in the FOSS community just prepackaged an aero distro?

>>108785920>that plasma version>that panel clock yearnice touch, lol>Why hasn't anyone in the FOSS community just prepackaged an aero distro?Because while some KDE apps are decent, Plasma sucks balls. A better question is, why does every single global theme in Get New look like trash?
(0) people want to maintain that shit. The KDE skin gets really close but its still resource-hungry Krashing with weird quirks and bugs all over the place because at the end of the day, its simply a shoehorned skin. And on top of that when I used the KDE skin, every time KDE updates the whole thing breaks and you have to reinstall the whole thing. Only sensible solution is to ditch the DE's and build from zero. Preferable on a sane OS like BSDs
>>108785920>Why hasn't anyone in the FOSS community just prepackaged an aero distro?low demand and no desire to maintain it>>108786004>muh krashing memeoutside of baloo being an untenable piece of shit, i've unironically had more issues with explore crashing on win10/win11 than i've ever had on an OOTB kde5/6 setup. i usually don't "werks on my machine" at people, but here we are.
>>108786019I admit that pure Plasma might just work without issues. The only time I've used KDE is with the aerothemeplasma so it very well could've been because of that

didn't microsoft nuke linspire or lindows or some shit
>>108788395Nah MS actually lost in court to those
>>108785920because as soon as the novelty/nostalgia wears off (and it WILL wear off) all you're left with is a 1-2 man-maintained projects that will eventually show issues and the illusion breaks completelyjoin the actual resistance or grow up
>>108790273It's not nostalgia, it's just objectively more pleasing.>join the actual resistance How is the ugly, soulless UX that's been pushed by every corporation for the past 15 years "the actual resistance"?

>>108785920Because Aero looks like garbage and only a loud minority actually likes it.
>>108785920There was a screenshot being spread around here of something that actually looks like Win7 and not that dogshit with wrong paddingIf you need a distro for a fucking theme you're lost and you need to reconsider everything you have done until this point in life
Oxygen is getting a real rework with Plasma 6.7. Use that.
>>108791184Yeah you are talking about Aerothemeplasma which actually gets everything right
>>108791287Honestly he should just start building it with bare minimum deps with almost from scratch. My experience with this was that it was polished visually but due to KDE the experience was buggy. For example every other day on startup one of the scripts would not work and the bar on the bottom would look opaque. Sometimes logout login would fix this, sometimes I'd have to reinstall the thing. Don't get me started on the last KDE update that broke everything and this nigga took his goddamn time fixing it while he was moving to CMake at the same timeIt's a shame because WIN7 look is the absolute peak of UIs. It looks timeless
>>108785920because aero is trash

>>108793401nice try but i refuse to believe a fellow human can be this retarded so ill have to call your bluff
>>108793416What else am I meant to take from this? You think humanistic design which corporate completely abandoned 15~ years ago is corporate, while flatshit isn't?
>>108793441thats the thing about baiting newfriend, if you try too hard no one will biteyoull eventually get the hang of it so dont worry
>>108793455Pretending to be obtuse isn't a successful means of calling your opponent a troll. Why exactly do you think the art style which has been rejected by corporate is apparently corporate, but the art style which they have pushed for the better part of 20 years is less corporate?
>>108793264In my experience the login screen was broken, and if you mistyped the password it would get stuck. The taskbar would also break with every update. These days, it *just werks* for me, but yeah, it sucks if something breaks you just gotta wait for him.I'll give him props, though. He got Aero down to a tee. He's the only person I've seen put this much effort into it while being this accurate.
>>108793375Which corporation designed the Plasma Breeze theme??
>>108785920I ran this for a while before switching to DWM. Very kozy.
>>108785920I saw a couple random distros with aero themes from ESLs but I forget what they were called sorry. I think one was Italian.Just learn how to install themes though, it isn't that hard.
>>108785920KDE's doing it.
>>108794825Microsoft in 2012
>>108785942Can't argue with that, king.
>>108785920It's odd, everything that is awesome on Linux gets swept under the rug. That's why you don't see a ton of KDE support unless distros are basically strong armed into including it. People on Linux want to pretend the CLI is the way to go but refuses to make Firefox or Steam work in the terminal. You need a graphics server, and front end and all sorts of bloat. It is stuck in this limbo of HUI/CLI hell with the worst parts of each forcefed down the user's throats and the users act like it's some badge of honor that they know what sudo :{}{:!@ would do, don't run this, it might brick your bios or some shit. And that's the problem, the people developing Linux are too autistic to know what a user should be exposed to and what they shouldn't. They view everything as the same and then wonder why women find them icky.
>>108785920Looks ass. What did you do to aero?
>>108796839I actually used Kubuntu when KDE 4 was still around (Kubuntu 11.10 if I remember correctly) so if I wanted to do a nostalgia dive I would rather install Oxygen rather than a weird Windows 7 recreation that likely doesn't work properly. But I think flat themes are way overhated and Breeze in KDE 6 isn't even that flat anyway.
>>108785920Making a new distro for just a theme would be stupid af. KDE (and probably other DEs) made theming as easy as possible. You can have 9x, Luna or Aero or whatever with just a few clicks. But also as people pointed out, oxygen and Air come back and both of those are Aero.
>>108798008>But I think flat themes are way overhatedThat's Reddit culture for you.
>>108785920Aero is unironically even worse than flatshit, I can't believe millennials are getting nostalgic for that shit.
It's time someone invents a new computer aesthetic
>>108785980>Every skin in get new looks like shitEvery global theme on KDE overall looks like shit. Why is KDE so disgusting to theme for the average user who wants to actually use a PC? And if you do put in the time, you're rewarded with Krashing. KDE is literal garbage if you touch it beyond modifying the panel using the built in features. Widgets and themes break the entire DE and every single available theme currently is ugly as piss.
I could do this probably but it's low on the priority list
>>108798722Luckily for me I don't care about themes and think the default look is good.Sorry you can't be happy anon
>>108798764I use the default theme as well. It's just not good looking design, plainly.
