What happened last month? I am planning to install debian but I am disgusted by the tranny stuff I see everywhere around it.
>>
>>108786974
Yes. It has plenty of flaws, but every other distribution is overall worse.
>>
>>108787008
A Jeeta wormed her way into leadership and is planning to incorporate Debian Foundation in the US and sell out to trans defense contractors.

>and is planning to incorporate Debian Foundation in the US
Link to actual evidence of this?
>>
>>108786992
ubuntu is miles ahead of debian. it has its own special packages and its own kernel and customizations. debian testing is such a poorly designed distro you might be CVE'd for months before the shit in unstable goes through the 2 week phase
>>
>>108787020
Fedora is literally perfect in every single way.
>>
>>108787041
Nobody gives a fuck about the politics of debian, the role is ceremonial. Complete nothing-burger. She's just the whipping boy for when something goes wrong, so they have someone they can flog. She controls Debian in the same way King Charlies controls Britain.
>>
>>108787041
>wormed her way into leadership
Is this how the kids say "ran unopposed in a public election"?
>and sell out to trans defense contractors
Please elaborate more on what the actual fuck is currently happening in the Lunduke Cinematic Universe.
>>

>ubuntu is miles ahead of debian
Doesn't change the fact that its very existence depends on Debian, therefore comparing the two is pointless.
>>
>anno Domini MMXXVI
>not rolling your own distro from scratch
I shiggy diggy
>>
>>108787101
it's really not. ubuntu has thousands of FTE's. debian could disappear tomorrow and ubuntu would be fine. development would just move to ubuntu.

every major corporation packages shit for ubuntu and its glibc and library versions. not debian's. it might work on debian or it might not. on stable i've had ubuntu binaries not run.

You're so close to getting it. Linux is a hobbyist OS except for server.

it has 10 year support. debian barely hits 3-4 without the EOL third party team.

i would recommend the whole playslit

ubuntu hate isn't rational. you are getting much better shit, for free.

She wasn't meant to run unopposed. She ebay sniped the nomination right before nominations closed, so nobody who wanted to challenge her specifically had time to submit counternominations. Worse, another candidate was hospitalized during the nomination period and tried to nominate a day later; the Pajeeta as the sole candidate had the power to unilaterally restart nominations, but she didn't.
>>108787088
The "ceremonial" role of throwing Debian's entire treasury at hiring Indians? lmao. Debian is done for.
>>

>ubuntu hate isn't rational
Why is it irrational to not want snaps? Why is it irrational to not trust the distribution that had Amazon spyware in the last 10 years?
>>
>>108787166
And then they voted for her.
>>
>>108787188
Yeah, because the ballots obviously didn't say "THIS ELECTION DOES NOT REFLECT THE FULL RANGE OF POTENTIAL CANDIDATES"

you can do whatever.
snaps are pretty nice for some things, especially zoomer tier shit like discord. it has better containerization that flatpak (see flatkill (still here))

in fact flatpak actively lowers the security of browsers, which is not a thing in snap because of the chromium dev teams working with the cannonical. same for gnome.

at the end of the day its a commercial distro that provides you shit for free. the internet itself is spyware. have you unblocked mcurl and spur.us from ur adblocker to post here? do you post from 8 proxies? they were testing the waters with amazon and saw the backfire.

the distro is trash nontheless, but its much better for the desktop and production section of linux than debian
>>
>>108787174
because those same morons use Steam that asks for the same telemetry they hate in Ubuntu
the same morons use Flatpaks that are even inferior than snaps and run by the community instead of official devs, literally like aur
>>
>>108787206
NOTA was always an option.
Most DDs didn't care enough to vote. Of those that did, most preferred her. They could have voted NOTA which would have triggered a new election including the previously hospitalised candidate.
As bad as it seems, it's hard to believe that Debian just voted for suicide. But maybe you're right.
>>

>containerization
A Windows XP user circa 2003 doesn't know these buzzwords. I just want my programs to be lean.
>>
>>108787131
>if $thing happened $otherthing would happen
Not an argument. In its current state, Ubuntu is a derivative of, and therefore depends on, Debian.

>Debian is the rock on which Ubuntu is built

There. Straight from the horse's mouth. Not watching some fat fuck rambling about nonsense on YouTube.

>ubuntu hate isn't rational.
You are the first to mention Ubuntu hate. Nobody here criticized Ubuntu in itself and everyone acknowledges that it's a much better experience OOTB (although Debian has made plenty of progress during the past few years).

However, Ubuntu being based on Debian is an objective fact, no idea why this makes people like (You) or that fat fuck YouTuber so defensive.

i use redhat based distro but i was using ubuntu up until 24.04.

i have seen a consistent downfall from 18.04. 26.04 is such a mess right now. idk how it is for the server market

Just don't be racist.
Here's my plan:
>install devuan
>Harden and secure it to the absolute maximum, strip it down
>Change deb-src to track official debian trixie
>Rebuild all installed devuan packages from the canonical debian trixie src
>Install those packages
>Slowly begin moving away from dpkg using a vibe coded package manager: Goal is to reduce LOC in every single package down to the GNU coreutils, removing as many features as is reasonable
>Reduce the system down to where it is easily comprehensible and auditable
>Eventually I will KNOW that that it is secure, because I will be familiar with every line of source code, at least somewhat
>>
>>108787225
This Steam whataboutism doesn't even work as a whataboutism when you consider that people want to minimise the number of organisations spying on them. Yes, Valve telemetry is bad, but why should I want the proprietary Snap store on top of that? I'll pick one, mate.

We had plenty of red threads about it, check the archives (debian election general. aka. /deg/). But it's basically a pajeeta that has nothing to do with linux nor programming managed to be the single candidate and debian devs voted for her. People on here were angry because all that she promised was less "cis-males" and more indians or some shit.
