Most software written, even before AI, is trivial slop.
Just relativelly simple tools to automate the display and process of mostly text data, with occasionally some audiovisual media.
Just look at your average website or mobile app or even desktop app.
Nothing really special. That's why there're so many jeets in the software industry. For most part all you need are codemonkeys to position the pixels in the right location.
It's all simple trivial stuff, but time consuming. That's why AI is such a big deal. To automate the trivial shit.

The actual important software will stay handwritten for a long time. Too bad important software is not even 0.01% of all the source code produce daily.

It’s like this. AI has not made any great novel or amazing painting or epic music composition. Once it goes beyond drafting emails or making handy excel sheets the quality dramatically drops. Same for coding, I guess. So far AI has helped me save time with annoying tasks. It didn’t actually do any real work.

A lot of very well known projects have indeed been accepting AI patches in a while now, but the quality really really shows. That said, AI users will constantly claim they vibecoded an entire X clone or a Y app in a few hours using AI! And when someone asks to see it it's always "...n-no, it's not ready for r-release yet" or "it's proprietary trust me bro" or if someone asks "what is your methodology? I have trouble getting it to do anything good and would love to learn!" -> radio silence.

That said it's a fun exercise to check the code you rely on on github and to see all the AI-generated PRs. You can notice the trend right away: the software you have least issues with is always AI-free (because only the shittiest devs find any value in AI).
