Well if you want slightly less pozzed Chrome you could always use the shill lion or ungoogled chromium. Firefox werks and it is useful if you like flatpaks. I need to ask /fglt/ if it is easy to have flatpak installs open up non firefox browsers.

What were they thinking when they stated that Edge loading password data in plain text within ram upon system startup was a feature?

meh, bit of threat modelling nonsense
if you got malware running on your os (or a webpage sandboxing vulnerability) such that malicious code is able to read the memory of other programs, it can extract encryption/decryption keys from a browser's memory
the only exception is:
1. if your browser requires you to authenticate at the OS level (eg Windows Hello or TouchID on macOS),
2. and it does this for *every single password autofill*
then in that case it is possible that your browser literally does not have access to those passwords in general, and access to its memory wouldn't help an attacker
but no browser works like that, and so this whole thing is clickbait security theatre (+ shitty microsoft PR)

Yeah, even though all browsers are botnet, I intend to hold out on my botnet until the end.
I'm happy to be one of the three people not using Blink if only to make it slightly more painful for developers to exclusively assume Chromium.
