What do you think about Hyprland?
I think wayland SUCKS!
cute boy
>>108791155fpbp /thread>about Hyprlandit's a nice piece of software tho
I switched back to KDE. It's just better.
>>108791113Her eyes look fucked up somehow
>>108791532>her
>>108791155>I think wayland SUCKS!how?
>>108791113Resizing windows isn't smooth like on Niri because Vaxry doesn't care about the experience
>>108791155>t. doesn't even know what wayland isLol
>>108791113I installed it once. Somehow they managed to configure a donation begging screen but a basic panel with application menu and tray icons is too much to ask for.
>>108791155>I think wayland SUCKS!hyprland is good btw
very goodthat being said, if I wanted tiling I'd use something else because hyprland is used to by too many slugs
>>108792488What is a wayland?
>>108791113>Hyper Land>vaxy had a mood swing and now you have to update your config file>sway>can use your 12 year old i3 configs
>>108793839literally just put your old config and the new config spec into an llm and it is automatic would much rather have breaking changes then keep using 12 year old shit because people are afraid of retards not knowing how to change a config
>>108791113i like it have tried to switch to linux a couple times over the past like 15 years but tried again w/ hyperland/cachy and it stuck been around 6 months now
>>108793878>literally juststick with sway
no i don't use a laptop so there's no need for me to use a tiling wm over a full de
>>108791113vibecoded zoomer slop
>>108791218this
>>108793839The fact that you had to rewrite your whole config like 2 months ago and now do it again because they switched to lua makes me think they have no plans and just do shit on a whim.
>>108793839>vaxy had a mood swing and now you have to update your config fileThis is the main reason why I don't use Hyprland, Varxxy is too autistic and has mental breakdowns frequently, he also engages in Reddit/Twitter internet fights for no reason instead of working on his WM.Had the project have someone at least mentally stable that wound't break it on a whim, I would use it.
>>108791113Niri > Hyprland
>>108791113Too complicated.I like my comfy themed KDE Plasma>>108791155Wayland is Aryan and X11 is coal.Seriously, I don't understand how people continue to hate on Wayland in the current year, it had issues in the past but it's good nowadays.
>>108796077undeniable trvke. this scrolling wm type is clearly the best it will get
>>108796412hyprland has scrolling thoughbeit
>>108795941is he your girlfriend or something?who the fuck cares about the devI've used hyperland for like 3 years and only had to update my config twice
>>108791113>Hyprlandmoved to Niri and then to Mango and haven't thought about it until this very momentFOTM and old news by now
>>108796328I have tons of issues on wayland, especially with xwayland. The cursor is also laggy.
>>108796609damn vaxry moves fast theres even lua config now holy shit
>>108796633They're just afraid to admit that at some point Vaxy made them mad. I don't know anything about him besides reading 2 blog posts he wrote on his website (went down a rabbit hole when reading the docs and hearing people talk about dbus), and he seems alright. He can make decent analogies, which is always my personal way to determine someone's IQ. Hasn't failed me yet.
>>108796609Yeah I want to try out Hyprland's scrolling mode as a Niri-fag. I hope it's a bit more fleshed out compared to MangoWC's version (maybe they've updated it since I last tried tbf).
>>108793807My point is that a lot of people think wayland is a buggy / bad piece of software when it isn't even a program / piece of software. It's just a protocol spec that devs can implement and the spec is there so things can talk to each others.A wayland compositor is just that, a compositor that implement the spec, there are good and bad ones.Ie river is a lot closer to what X is than to what a window manager that relies on x is.Most of the wayland issues people have are not issues with wayland itself but with implementations of it.Alslo, if you do write your compositor, you do not have to fully adhere to the spec, ie you could allow things that the spec wouldn't, ie let apps access other apps's i/o you are basically free to do whatever you want, it's more of just a guide to build your own compositor and have it compatible with software.
>>108796328i mean its been years since i started complaining that global hotkeys, even in kde, arent actually global and have specific requirements that clash with what i want to do. YEARS anon.
>>108794140>stick with swaysway is created by pedophile
>>108795941>Had the project have someone at least mentally stable that wound't break it on a whim, I would use it.you'd love Niri
>>108796810Why Mango? Do you just want to feel like a special snowflake?
>>108797293>My point is that a lot of people think wayland is a buggy / bad piece of software when it isn't even a program / piece of software. You're assuming that the guy that you quoted talked about wayland compositors and not the wayland protocol. Also it doesn't matter if a single wayland compositor adds its own protocols. That just makes it worse since it makes it harder for applications to create software that targets _wayland_. What ends up happening is that software doesn't target wayland, they target kwin, mutter, wlroots, hyprland, etc. How is that an improvement of targeting a single platform (such as x11)? And no it's not because xorg is a single x11 implementation, but because the x11 protocol is intentionally made to allow a lot of different use cases with simple constructs (mechanism over policy)
>>108797396being able to switch layouts easily comes in handy it handles all of them very well. what's with the sperg reaction?
What i found that Hyprland has its own article in Grokipedia, not Wikigreediahttps://grokipedia.com/page/hyprland
>>108796633I care because that's one of the reasons the WM breaks so much. Months ago it broke literally because he was too busy discussing politics on twitter and pushed a wrong patch, he himself admitted that and said sorry for it.If you like it, I'm on the same boat, because I think it's a great project, if only the lead developer would stop focusing in internet fights and fixed the issues it would be even better. If his lack of mental stability stops hurting project, it will be worth going back.
>>108799060>Months ago it broke literally because he was too busy discussing politics on twitter and pushed a wrong patchsource? that's really fucking funny if it's true kek

>>108791113its cool, but I prefer mango. both of them are better than niri in a window management sense. niri is much better on a technical level, unfortunately
>>108791113>Using an NVIDIA GPU with Hyprland is unsupported. All you need to know.

>>108797293nta but we're aware. Wayland itself is coming up on 20 years and they still haven't settled on a standard for detecting the primary display, among other things."It's just the implementations that are bad" is the same cope of the people working on it. Maybe if no one could create something good with your protocol in 17 years it's a bad protocol. The only reason it's getting more popular recently is because it's being forced for political interests. It goes both ways, Xorg isn't the only X11 implementation. The true successor to X on unix-like systems is Xlibre. The only people actually excited for Wayland are corporations that want a cheap solution for IoT device interfaces/kiosk providers, and newfags that just came from Windows who were told it's "cutting edge" in some Discord server.Canonical tried the same thing. https://canonical.com/mirThe only difference is Red Hat convinced some retards it's for desktop use so their clients can save some dev time.
>>108805684>Wayland itself is coming up on 20 years and they still haven't settled on a standard for detecting the primary display, among other things.this is out of scope for wayland, wayland is only a communication protocol between clients and the display server
