What do you think about XLibre?https://github.com/X11Libre/xserver
>>108798895Nothing much. I think they should just contribute to Wayland.
honestly, I only use it because it makes trannies mad
>>108798895I use Wayland so it's largely irrelevant to me.
>>108798895Works fine, what is there to think about?
>>108798895whats the advantage of this thing vs current ones?
>>108798895I use wayland, never have used a x11 session before. Why should I care about this?
>>108799623>>108799112>>108798903Get your heads checked. I've never seen proof that Wayland works. You've never soon proof that Wayland works. It's still just a theory, and none of you actually use it.
>>108799623>I use waylanddoesn't work on my computer
>>108799950Same.
>>108799935>>108799950>Why should I care about this?Notice how they all ignored this question
>>108799956XLibre is Xorg with bugfixes. It's great and it obviously works. The proof is in the pudding. Conversely, Wayland does not work, and has no pudding.
>>108799969Wayland works without any issues on my machine. Have been using it since the beginning of the year. Used to be catastrophic mess, now it's good.
>>108799989>Wayland works without any issues on my machine. It's still unfinished retard
>>108798895If they manage to unfuck X11 that would be neat for older devices.I think phoenix is a cooler idea though. https://github.com/external-mirrors/phoenix
>>108800002Okay but does it matter if it does everything I want without issues?
>>108799989>Wayland worksShow Qlipper, AbiWord, GNUmeric, Jmol, Pinta, Qmmp, ReText, HardInfo2, PyChess, and Remmina running correctly under Wayland.
>>108799961that's a VERY flattering rendition of that fat ugly dweeb
>>108800029The only one of those I use is HardInfo2 and it runs just fine.
>>108800029maybe cpu-x running correctly under wayland should be fine
>>108798895>Chris switched to XLibreOhnononono what is you doin my boi you gonna bring the fury of hell upon yestill based tho
I don't use it but I like that it exists.
>>108798895I think it's wasted effort compared to phoenix
>>108798895Looks like they put up their green grocer sign. Why the fuck else would someone make shit like this one of the first public facing things anyone sees. >this is our display protocol/windowing system for desktop operating systems>BTW WE SURE LOVE NASTY SEXUAL DEVIANTS JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE YOU WERE AWARE
>>108799989>Used to be catastrophic mess, now it's good.its still the same dogshit fragmented protocol
>>108800277They did it because people accused them of being heckin' evil nahtzees and it was meant to be a gotcha. But obviously you can't win with mentally ill people that want to see you raped, dead, and think it's funny.
>>108799112>I use Wayland so it's largely irrelevant to me.DOESN'T WORK WELL ON NVIDIA GEFORCE 920M LAPTOPS
>>108798895>What do you think about XLibre?I love it. I'll gladly suffer the screen tearing and daily crashes as long as my X is de-troonified.
>>108798903Gayland kek.Who would want to contribute to troon project ?
>>108800384Rust developers.
>>108800389>Rust developers.to IBM, i assume
>>108800308It's extremely unprofessional. Baffling that such behavior is acceptable for any organization, let alone expected these days.
>>108799989Use case for Wayland?
>>108800413Go be professional at mcdonalds tranny.
>>108800490Reading comprehension is not your strong suit I take it. Putting tranny/faggot shit on front facing media like readmes or corpo logos is extremely unprofessional. You would think that even supporters of this stuff would think this too but forcing people to be extremely unprofessional is of course part of the ritual.
>>108800544Stfu tranny noone cares.
>>108800353the integrated intel gpu is probably faster than that garbage
>>108800471>Use case for Wayland?Testing a hardware/software that works in wayland
>>108800752The whole point of XLibre is to implement those features you listed.
>>108798895Do I need libxtrans to compile?
>>108800906You do, to compile Wayland.
whats the usecase for someone who already uses X11? just seems like extra work getting external packages
>>108800946Usecase is continuing to use your X11 since Xorg Xserver is deprecated and no longer developed.
>>108800906No, the transportation code has been copied into xlibre so it doesn't depend on libxtrans
>>108798895it works for me so I like it, simple as
>>108798895Is this fully backward compatible with regular xwindows? Throwing decades of compatibility out the window is retarded. So far it's been possible to render GUIs remotely over SSH, which I actually used sometimes.I absolutely don't care about their new flavor of the month garbage they forced to become the new worldwide standard, I just want a modular system I can use remotely and one that doesn't crash every app when one of the app crashes.
>x11 devs basically abandoned the project and wouldn't implement new features>"if you don't like the current state of x11 just fork it">forks it>causes infinite dramaEither there's some massive conspiracy to kill off anything except wayland or people make drama for the sake of having drama.I use wayland because I have mixed resolution/refresh-rate screens and want to use hdr and variable refresh rate. Xlibre might be able to do that but until wayland becomes more trouble than it's worth I'll just keep using it.
>>108799623you're lying or underageeither way, >>>reddit
How does it handle display scaling? I have a 4k screen and wayland works pretty well but I remember having issues when I used X11 on a 1440p display a while ago.
>X
>>108798895Ewww, why would I use a windowing system that Hitler himself would have approved of?
>>108798895I see no point since Wayland exists.
>>108799623> never have used a x11 session beforeYour DE literally has xwayland inside of it and always will because wayland is a patchwork of temp fixes.
>>108801813>when the shitter you hired to astroturf doesn't know "luddite" is an ai topic term, and has nothing to do with rendering softwareThe clown is dead but the honking keeps going
> wayland is rotten foundation> systemd implementation is shit> alsa, pulse, pipewireloonix the india of OSes
>>108798895I tried to put it on Mint but I wasn't able. I guess I'll wait until it gets official support for more distros.
>forkwareget over it, go find new things to be upset about
>>108798895I think it's usefulness hasn't been proven
>>108802412I was about to call you either a jeet, nigger or redditor but I can't decide so instead I'll just inform you that luddite was a term used on /g/ to describe well.... luddites when LLMs were little more than a fever dreamthis website is dead
>>108802680and just to get pedantic and drive the point home in case the thread dies while I go to sleepnigger
>>108802509>I tried to put it on Mint but I wasn't able.I installed XLibre on Linux Mint and it works
>>108802722>>108802680>non-argument but you're paid by the buzzword because contemporarism just isn't a thing apparentlyYou're arguing between competing computer rendering software, expand your vocabulary retard.
>>108800585it's better to stay on xlibre with proprietary nvidia driverit will work also
>>108800289>fragmented protocolits not wayland's fault that gnome doesnt fucking support half the protocols
>>108804858its not gnomes fault that wayland is a dogshit protocol bud. instead of having generic buidling blocks like x11, it has autistically hyper specific usecase protocol extensionst. gnome hater
I don't think about it at all. I don't think about any display server because I'm not a dipshit who wastes his time caring about stupid consumer shit I don't have any cards in. Imagine.
>>108798895Yep. Is there legitimately any actual noticeable improvement over just plain X11?
>>108798895tried it on devuan ceres in a VM, it's much faster than OG Xorg>what about bare metalI'm not gonna use ceres on bare metal lmao. fuck updoooooting every day.
>>108802529>do FOSS as intended>reeee don't fork
