>>
This shit ran GTAV, thats how good it was

>8800
best card I ever bought
never ever made a good graphics card purchase after this one. missed the 1080ti
missed the 3090, priced out of the 4090
and now I’ll never own a good card. at least the 3060 12g is still holding on.
>>
>>108801404
>faster than 2x7900gtx in sli
We'll probably never get an uplift like that ever again.
>>
>>108801404
It was so good everyone overlooked bumpgate
>>
>>108801573
If you can get a 5080 for 1k eurodollars it's an okay deal. Wouldn't recommend unless you run 4k or VR because the better memory compared to the 4xxx series really shine at those high resolutions.
>>
>>108801573
You had 8800 back when technology was in its historical moments dual cores quad cores and this

You did good
>>
>>108801404
>crysis on stable 30fps
Good times
>>
>>108801404
Did Nvidia really put a cyborg frog on their GPU box
>>
>>108801881
yeah, to showcase dat rendering power
>>
>>108801881
yeah its called SOVL you wouldn't understand
>>
>>108801782
unfortunately I picked the e8400 dual core instead of the similarity priced q6600 quad core. the quad was the better purchase in the long term.
>>
I got the 8800GTS 320MB instead, but I came from an FX5200 64MB.
Felt good to actually play games.
>>
>>108801881
No, nVidia didn’t make AIBs back then

I wanted one so bad. I got a 9800 GT, not as good but it was a huge upgrade for me. Thing came with this pretty cool Battlefield clone. Box didn't have any sovl, just a PNY XLR8.

I skipped e8400 and bought the q6600 only to downgrade to e8600 and overclock it to 4.6GHz then I upgraded to qx9650 and had it until 2700k. Then shit became boring until Ryzen.
>>
>>108801881
No but Palit did
>>
>>108801404
Real revolution was the 9700 Pro (single handedly made pixel/vertex shaders widespread) and the 3dfx voodoo.

8800gtx was the first step in decline, by introducing CUDA and gpu compute.

Nvidia was frogposting before most here were born, anon
>>
>>108801881
(You) just had to be there.

8800GT is the best bang for your bucks card I ever had.

FX5900 Ultra. Last one with paletted textures support.
>>
>>108805499
Yeah it was a magical time
>>
>>108801831
Crysis was mostly cpu bound due to early adoption of multithreading at the time was dismal.
Crysis 2 fixed this problem and is significantly easier to run as a result
>>
life changed when I got one of these
