womp womp
what happened to pat gelsinger is a perfect example of why american companies are all going to shit
>>108806651Never buying intel again. Buy AMD -> DeliversThe first time I buy Intel they cancel the only good product they were producing.
>>108806651guess what, intel: people were waiting to see if you'd pull this shit before trusting you and buying your cards. no one bought alchemist because your drivers were shitty. no one bought battlemage because they were waiting for the high-end card you never released. also, maybe find some better partners so i don't have to buy a fucking "sparkle" card.
>>108806667Didn't Intel poach the guy who made these from AMD? Hopefully the end for jay also
>>108806651clickbait and falseits only cancelled for consumer cattleiGPU and enterprise will continue to recieve software and hardware updates>>108806667shut the fuck up, radeon-schizogo back to pcbg
>>108806667This isn't new, back when they made motherboards they bailed at the end of the core2quad era, had the worst driver support and RAM incompatability. Just think about all the wasted gpu ram that went into these cards instead of Nvidia/Amd.
AMD and Intel will willingly let consumer x86_64 die, too much money to be made in AI datacenter memes.Just like how Valve made normie gaming on Linux viable to prevent getting fucked over by MS now they will make Linux gaming viable on Chinese ARM hardware to prevent getting fucked over by AMD. Steam Machine will be an overpriced curiosity. Deck 2 will be ARM.
>>108807326if deck 2 is arm, it'll end up being qualcomm. qualcomm is worse than intel.
>>108807043>Didn't Intel poach the guy who made these from AMD?>Hopefully the end for jay alsoI have no idea, I bought the card not long ago, if I knew this was going to happen I wouldn't have upgraded it to the B580.>>108807253shut the fuck up, radeon-schizoI don't care about your brand wars I wanted a a good graphics that is supported for a long time, they just gave up, it's first time I legit went and bought an intel product and not AMD and this happens to me.>go back to pcbgHave no idea what that means.>>108807289>This isn't new, back when they made motherboards they bailed at the end of the core2quad era, had the worst driver support and RAM incompatability. Just think about all the wasted gpu ram that went into these cards instead of Nvidia/Amd.Well really they didn't make that much.>>108807354>if deck 2 is arm, it'll end up being qualcomm. qualcomm is worse than intel. In what way all android devices that allowed me to install another custom ROM were qualcomm, the ones that did not were mediatek. But yeah ARM is an awful platform it was NEVER made for what it's being used for today, ARM was meant for appliances and things like that not PCs. And that shows as it doesn't support proper ACPI.
>>108807253> its only cancelled for consumer cattlepostponed
>>108807326>Deck 2 will be ARMunless deck 2 releases post-2030, thats not gonna happen
>Intel is skipping consumer Arc>server Arc is alive and well>consuner GPU's coming back is still on the table>gaymers are pissing and shitting their pants for not getting a new toy this yearFuck Jay, Fuck GN Steve, fuck the HWUnboxed Aussies, fuck the entire scene. They've gotten genuinely unbearable now that they've realized they haven't been the target market for years. We already have CPU's and GPU's that are more than capable for vidya, but they have to throw a temper tantrum the moment they can't consoom next product.
>>108806651Meanwhile, I'm still enjoying my Intel Arc Pro B50. Runs great on Windows or Linux (kernel > 6.14)
>>108809452>Intel Arc Pro B50based
Who could have guessed? Except the times you were repeatedly warned about it since 2022, and was obvious by 2024
>>108806651I told everyone on /v this will happen.Anyway have fun with your paperweight when they quit driver support
>>108806925plus 111111111111
only youtubers had those cards and even they didn't use them fake tears all around
Intel gayming cards have always been DoA, their drivers will never catch up to all the game specific patches required.
>>108807326Deck 2 will be RISCV, Gaben wills it.
intel are retarded if they actually do.there's a wide-open market now for low-mid range GPUs
>>108811085y didnt their iGPU exp transfer ova
>>108811107A dGPU has to do way more shit than an iGPU iGPU is only responsible for generating some graphics, a dGPU must manage everything intel couldn't even get some studios to give them their games
>>108811107Because nobody plays Asscreed 2026 prepare to consume edition on an iGPU.
>>108806651going with herbs. It's all rumors, and nobody has gotten anything from Intel.we.just.don't.know.
>>108806651The title and the thumbnail are sheer clickbait, but the actual content of the video is mostly on point. The takeaway is that none of the three discrete GPU makers give a rat's ass about the consumer market right now. Nvidia will continue to sell their scraps for a high markup as they focus exclusively on B2B ai crap. AMD will continue to be wishy-washy and not compete with their cousin on the hi-end as they try to catch up their ai software stack and push their top performing silicon towards B2B ai crap. Intel's Pro B70 release sets the precedent for their near term goals as they too focus on B2B ai crap.Don't expect anything more than xx70-tier graphics with marginal performance enhancements in the next few years unless the ai bubble finally implodes. Nvidia bringing back the 3060 is a hint as to what to expect
>>108806662That only worked out because Trump had to bail them out. Something that the investors unrealistically wouldn't see coming.
>>108807253Why sell a budget GPU to gamers when you can sell thousands of that exact same card (Plus a little extra memory) for $2000 to some guy buying eveything they can to keep up in the datacenter space.
>>108811096RISCV is a shitty toy ISA.
>>108806651skipping a gen of discrete consumer gpus is not being canceled
>>108813414>skipping a gen of discrete consumer gpus is not being canceledThat's not what happened. they canceled all the future lines and skipped C. So nothing will come form it we will see how the igpus will go hopefully good enough where they will reconsider making GPUs again for the desktop but that's far in the future.
>>108813442If/when datacenter starts cooling off maybe we'll see them take another stab at the consumer enthusiast market
>>108807326x86 is intel’s entire reason for still existing, I doubt they would ever let it just die.
>>108807253that's reassuring, arc igpu are pretty good.
>>108806667AnotherMassiveDisappointment
>>108813199Like ARM is any better, they've been promising server grade chips since the 10s yet they can only make shitty phone CPUs, any energy savings are lost on x86 emulation so they might as well keep using that now that Intel actually pulled their head out of their asses and are making competitive low power CPUs, there is also the modern x86 specs in the works without all the deprecated instructions bloat. But if somebody has the skills, the will and the money to build a competitive RISCV CPU is gotta be valve.
tldw
>>108813442the diference between a workstation card and a consumer gpu is minimal, they are reprioritizing their manufacturing capabilities, not canceling the development.gamers will be fucked for a while, but when the market stops being retarded they will make consumer gpus again, this >>108813463
>>108806651>womp wompI think the chinese gpus will save gaming but not soon it's going to be years but they won't be insane high price like the west
Hahahaha lmao. When I warned people here to not buy arc, that Intel will drop it quick because it wasn't profitable enough; they called me a retard. Who is laughing now? I am sure those people are still here.
>>108811103Desktop gaming market is nothing and locked by Nvidia.
>>108814391>chinese gpus will save gamingdepends on drivers
>>108806651Were these any good at inference? They were 8 and 16 gb of gddr6, right? I’ve only ever used Nvidia cards, but if I can get a cheap machine with ~100gb of vram, I’ll take it.
>>108814421still a decent value for existing cards . plus intel open source drives are pretty good so you can run them for awhile. sad though they decided not to compete with nvidia and amd in the long term
>>108816788they already laid off a large number of people who did open source. now that they're not selling a new card they'll be less focused on patching performance issues. it's a bad idea to buy into a dead end like that.
>>108807326The future is RISC-V, cope.>>108813199China disagrees with you, death to x86 and death to america.
I know there's all the doom and gloom but surely this level of investment in AI isn't feasible forever. As far as I know plenty of Datacenters are not even being built directly by the big tech companies, plenty are being built by investment groups hoping to make a buck from leasing them to big tech, and these are probably going to be the first to go, with plenty not even going beyond the foundation stage.
>>108817062I'm not that optimistic, when AI craze fades they will use all the datacenters to for cloud computing and officially kill personal computing for 99% of people.
>>108812983WTF do consumers even do with a GPU? At this point they're just CPUs with looser cache coherence and extremely niche software. The only reason consumers want them is because of retarded proprietary APIs, not a need for compute resources.
>>108817552bing boop wahoo gaymenApparently it's a market that matters a lot. Clearly not as much as AI tho.
>>108806925It's that and the fact that out of box, ARC could not use DX9, a fucking Original X-box era API.How. The. FUCK. do you ignore DX8-9? That's the most used DX for legacy titles. Did they expect everyone to go "fuck them games" to Dude Sex and other "legacy" 1990-2000 DX titles?
>>108817757>DX9It's 2026 anon. Let it fucking go. No one stopped you from using DXVK either.
>>108817795sorry, but there are a lot of really good old games. i'd like to be able to play them and not wait for the re-release where i'm forced to rebuy it with AI graphics addons and battlepass and all the modern shit.
>>108817894Ok so... https://github.com/doitsujin/DXVK
