Peak performance underappreciated by /g/
>>108806719>underappreciatedNot really just poorfags seething.
overpriced without any significant benefits
I was disappointed by their new 140mm fan. There's an audible hum at 800rpm that wasn't on the previous version.
>>108806719I don't care, they cost too much.
>>108806719It looks like a poopy butthole. No reason to use flesh and feces colorscheme in computer components.
>>108806719how does it actually compare to the previous gen and bequiet's silent wings 4?the 140mm model makes a lot more low frequency noise than previous fans and bequiet's, this one less but apparently it's not exactly the gigaupgrade it is touted to be?
>>108806719is it underappreciated? really? how?
>>108806719redditslop
>>108808273for reminder too many urban homes already have large amounts of low freq noise pollution, and low frequency noise of the kind the A14 G2 makes and A12x25 G2(<=50hz) cannot easily be isolated at allthe G2s make less hi freq noise at the cost of having a subbass focused noise profile, i find this misleading because now they can claim they made a fan that has better airflow to noise efficiency but that isn't the truth at all, in fact it some usecases it may be worse(if you put the computer in another room with long cables to reduce noise and expect the G2s to reduce noise further compared to G1, this won't work because the noise amount is roughly the same but harder to dampen)
Arctic fans are cheaper and do the job just as well. Noctua is the Apple of PC fans. Overpriced and relies on the brand cult for their sales. Thermalright PA120 is a chinkshit cheapo cooler that annihilates the NH-D15 in raw performance and if Noctua is serious about competing, they need to offer more than durability and free mounts at the prices they're asking. The market is getting extremely competitive.
>>108806719I've had my F12s over a decade and they perform similarly to the day I bought them. I doubt cheaper fans would had lasted this long. I certainly appreciate them.
>>108806719Noctua will never be a real Gentle Typhoon
>>108806719idk that it's 8% quieter than a cheap fan.i like fan noise, its the only auditory feedback on what my pc is going through
I have 2 80mm silent noctua fansI can confirm they're silent as in I can put my ear next to them and I cannot fucking hear themArctic garbage always has a different kind of humming and moaning
>>108807159>>108808393Noctuabros... we lost
>>108806719i'm not poor so i just buy the best fans lol.
>>108809544Yeah Gentle Typhoon is still surprisingly relevant. Pic related shows cubic feet/minute vs decibels.(Note the Phanteks T30 is 30mm thick, with 25mm ofc being typical for such fans.)
>>108810211>Buy once>Runs for a literal lifetimeIf it ain't broke...
>>108806733more likepaypigs going to bed
>>108810211The flaw with these types of graphs is the use of dbA, this favors fans optimized to make noise in the range that A-weighting massively reduces.Another flaw is measurement microphones' chronic difficulty measuring low freq noise too, both because of 1/f noise, microphone capsule quality, DAC quality etc... and environmental noise pollution.BeQuiet's fans have a patented wavey blade shape to reduce low freq noise emission at the cost of increasing higher frequencies and it shows on this graph.https://patents.google.com/patent/US8128359B2
>>108810458The A12x25 G1 isn't bad at all, only the G2 can be argued to be overrated
>step asside other fansthe EZ-Cool PSU has the quietest fan I've ever not heard. I only had one explode on me. Although I'm pretty sure it was my fault.
everyone in this thread is like blah blah blah this chink shit is better because it doesnt account for my third world noise pollution because i have people with sticks banging them together better but nock tuah is literally based in VIENNA, AUSTRIA they make ubermensch fans the force of a thousand suns that by default is enough to make me pay a premium for them over whatever exploding chink shit is supposedly better
>>108807137>without any significant benefitsIt's quality. I've had the same Noctua fans spinning almost 24/7 for roughtly 15 years now.
>>108806719I love it
>>108806719>underappreciatedNOOOO YOU DON'T GET IT MY RATTLING CHINKFANS RUNNING AT 5000 RPM ARE JUST AS GOOD
>>108811055Anons case fan purchasing choices are causing you to have a meltdown? Because those fans aren't brown? Is it the lack of seeing melanin which causes you to chimpout?
>>108810989It's just a Scythe Gentle Typhoon in cowprint
>>108811331>>108811336i really do hate the cowprint even the fractal north case which is supposed to match it looks like barf thank goodness they sell them in black
>>108810989This. You're paying not just for the fan/heatsink with Noctua, but also for tight quality control, good customer service (eg. they'll happily send you a free mounting plate for an old CPU cooler model if you want to reuse it for a new mobo/socket), plus product R&D and manufacturing costs when all wages paid go to first-world workers. If you have an issue with the cost of Noctua products, that's fine- don't buy them. But by whinging about it you thereafter lose the right to complain when you get a bunch of duds in your 5-pack of Arctic P12 fans, or (a more extreme example) that you're being laid off because your employer is offshoring your job to China/India.
>>108806719sleeve bearing fan for the price of ball bearingsuch is the power of marketing
>>108810211>30mm thicki want to test 38mm thick server fans. But i'm afraid they'll be high pitchy and loud no matter the rpm
>>108811351>led's and windowcuck
>>108809544gotta love those noisy bearings
>>108812773>sleeve bearing fan for the price of ball bearing>such is the power of marketingTHIS NOCTUA BASTARDS
>>108813458True. Some do emit noise if fixed in a certain orientation and you happen to sit next to them on an open bench. This is a non issue in an assembled case, however.
>>108813482Hawktuah are mice fans but they're not the best, is all.
>>108813536please bless us with gigaballs bearing knowledge. I have two niggertuas but I should probably replace them. at least I didn't buy a cooler from those jackasses.well. I do like the 120mm from the I use as an exhaust fan. the 140 is ok...
>>108813547Why are you mindbroken?
>rock solid>lasts forever>you can break one even on purpose and they'll send you a replacementNoctua is retarded when it comes to product support. They'll just send you shit if you ask even remotely nicely.
>>108806719people actually buy this overpriced junk?>smugs
>>108806719Poors get angry that someone with money is willing to spend 2x as much on fans just for a 1% increase in performance and user experience.
Mogged by watermasters
>>108807655Try looking at your monitor instead of your spinning computer fans.
>>108813771I'm still using the same Noctua fans I bought before Arctic p12/p14 even existed.
>>108807137I got a chromax fan for $15 CAD on a local used auction. But I admit, the newer Thermaltake fans are dead silent if the RPM is below 50%. But at 100% I think the acoustics of chromax are a bit more forgiving, even though it is loud.(I am actually comparing a 90mm thermaltake on my PC to a 120mm chromax).I also have a terrible 120mm OEM NZXT fan I got for $5, I kind of feel stupid for getting it since I could have gotten silent wings 3 fans for $5 on fb marketplace.
>>108816434>thermaltake*Thermalright, p9 fan in specific.I picked it up because the CPU cooler was $20 cad, overkill for a 12100f, and I was stupid because I didn't mess with fan curves enough before buying the cooler. After buying the CPU cooler, it was still loud audible for my tasks (blender/compiling, sudden changes in speed). Then I discovered fan curves, dead silent, I could have returned the cooler since I think the stock intel cooler was quiet as well, I just needed a fan curve. My curve is flat at 40% until it hits 70C.
>>108806719they are objectively better than the competition, the problem is that it doesn't matter
This is real performance.
>>108806719My favorite colors scheme for computers: brown and tanWhat is this, a suitcase?
I was sick of my old case, so in March I swapped to a smaller one that still fits atx stuff & an NH-D15 G2.Nothing wrong with my old Noctua fans, but I bought 3 sets of those 120 nearly-matched fans. And then one set of the 140 PP fans.My only complaint? The silicone plugs that came w/ all of them were NA-SAV2. And it seems like you can no longer buy NA-AV1 separately.
>>108806719nah, however this is
nawkTUAH
>>108818235WhoopsThis is what I'm talking about.
>>108806719>thirdies hate the best computer fan brand they can't buywhat did you expect?first-worlders like you and myself are the minority on this website now
>>108818235>>108818338the na-av1 was a pain in the arse, too short to easily just pull it through the fan. The only advantage they had, I suppose, was that the bottom of it was flat. But you can just get the AV4 or the SAV4 which is the same thing but better and also works for mounting radiators.
>>108817611i kinda want to do this now. these are like 8 years old.
>>108818652I like the clean look. No trimming required.Really I've only ever used the ones with a flat or domed head. The ones with the 'pull tabs', except for the rear of the case, there's never enough clearance to the case panel, filter, etc.I also found another when I was putting those away, but I don't know the part number. Short like NA-AV1, but it has a domed head like NA-SAV4.I'll see if I can catch that Noctua autist that sometimes posts in /pcbg/, I bet he'd know.
love me noctuas, simple as
>>108810989>>108812656Noctua marketing team, hello!May i ask you why does BQ's Silent Wings 4 fans have over twice the MTBF than your flagship fans? Why is the S12A shown to have more performance than A12x25 (g1 & g2) but no reviewer ever has been able to reproduce what yo8r website states even in no resistance cases? Surely you got video proof from your engineers' physics simulation softwareMaybe don't lie about products improvements too? Those magical multidb noise improvements that actually show up as faulty HVAC tier subbass noise pollution
>>108820152are you mentally ill
>>108806719>loses to pic rel in some benchmarks>costs half as much>basically just as silentumm noctua bros?
>>108806719the only fan i truly feel is quiet is the noctua fans included in the d15s using low noise adapters.
>>108806719Red LEDs.
I use Noctua industrial fans at less than 1200 RPM because i entirely intend to use my PC for 10 years. 64gb ddr5 ram, 8tb M2, 7900xtx, 7950x,1000 watt titanium seasonic psu, and 14 fans.
I wish Noctua made a cooling tower for the room. They have that NV-FS1 product but it's too small,I need something with at least 3 fans to run during the night and rotate while cooling down the room.Their fans are really silent, they could make a killing in that market of room fans, as a lot of it is just chinkshit with low-quality ball bearings
>>108821218Fuck man i wish they made a box fan.
>>108821183Ok, but you don't need all that to use your PC for 10 years.
>>108821265Yeah i do over kill is only kill. I upgraded for DDR3 and 4 cores with 16gb of ram. What would even require a new upgrade after this? I intentionally went with this setup for VM's anyways.
