How are we holding up? Seems like everyone I know is either>working a tech job they hate but can't leave due to the job market, or>can't find a tech job at all due to the job market
case 1 here, I want to kill my boss and maybe a couple others
case 1, my boss just told me that starting today everything has to be vibecoded
>>108807282>>108807309OP, same. I've been promoted to an Engineering Manager so I can at least keep the slop at bay, my company is shit and deserves to go bankrupt (probably will). This industry is gay.
I just knew I wanted to drive a semi so I went with that. Don’t really have to deal with people, get to see the world, and it’s like driving a simulator, but for real.
>>108807256case 2 hereI worked 7 years at FAANG companies, then got a job at coinbase because I needed something fully remotemy friend told me they were super chillpro-tip: they are absolutely NOT super chill
>>108807363My company doesn't necessarily deserve it but the engineering and devops specifically have to be culled entirely. Indian Woman Director. Not much more needs to be said I think.
I work in embedded in a small team in a EU based industrial technology corp.My team is overworked with no hope of increasing headcount because all new investments are only in India (cheap) and China (vibrant market). At least we have work scheduled for us until about mid 2027. Past that there's a quiet fear/expectation of layoffs.Shareholders and their wealth managers are not that different from country to country.
>>108807256Working a tech job where it's 50% nothing to do because of waiting on others and 50% last minute crunch
i quit like a year ago and have been working on side projects, a friend was unemployed for 2 years but just got another tech job seems like the market is opening back up. It alligns w/ interest rates. Tech is like totally dependent on scam money/new investement so as they start printing more money or lowering interest rates we are the first industry to expand in terms of hiring
>>108807256case 2 here. it's miserablehad to do a big surgery last year and my savings were destroyedi might go back to my parents' desu
>>108807894What kind of surgery?
>>108807256>goi got hired to write go and its what i want to do
>>108807256I should have studied medicine or dentistry. All STEM fields outside of that pay like shit here in France.
>>108807256Case 1, ten years of being a monkey. Laying cables, building proxmox boxes, dicking around in 365 admin panels, fixing laptops and wordpress sites. I don't know where to go from here, other than innawoods maybe.
